  • Southern Steel, ....really great Record from the SMB. On this Record, there are

really great tracks to listen to. Simple Simon, Sleaze Factor, WOLF SONG (would

die for this song)and so on. So if you in love with the SMB ,you need this one ;)

  • I love it. Three fingers holding the pick. Just like I do.

  • his tone here is so different than his engl tone, not sure which sound i like more. maybe they're both just as good, just different for different times and slight changes in playing style

  • I've watched this video many times. It is just a great performance. I like this version better than the studio recording. Great use of harmonics. Great mix of rocking and melodic lines. Rock on, Steve!

  • this band's guitarist plays like Steve Morse!!!!

    /watch?v=KZJKPLo32aE&feature=related

  • southern rock fusion ?? that's a cheap analogy but good try anyway. these guys rise way above southern rock in every way but are fusion

  • woody harrelson on guitar steroid

  • Buckethead - Morse wipes the floor with those hacks! 5 times guitar player of the year in the 1980's - beating the likes of Stevie Ray, Van Halen, DiMiola, Holdsorth and malmsteen in their prime.

  • steve morse my idol!!

  • Pound for pound the best rock guitarist out there.

  • Kick ass guitar solo

  • Kickin' ass so bad! One of my favourite Steve tunes!

  • the progressive bridge at 2:46 gave me goosebumps

  • This guy is so underrated. You rarely hear him mentioned among such players like Vai and Satriani, etc.

  • @BLACKMAGICMETALMAN12 absolutely agree!

  • @symbolsim To be honest I haven't really listened to him that much, but damn I love his way of combining blues feel and chicken picking with arpeggios.

  • @BLACKMAGICMETALMAN12 dont forget buckethead and andy timmons there both underrated to

  • @BLACKMAGICMETALMAN12 He is not underrated, he was chosen best guitar player several years, he is just less known than players like the ones u have mentioned.

  • @BLACKMAGICMETALMAN12 I love the former, but he eats both of them for breakfast.

  • Sweet!

  • So good.

  • what kind of music can be considered steve morse?? hard rock?? heavy metal?? jazz fusion??

  • @ReinaHongo I'd consider him a Rock Fusion musician.

  • @ReinaHongo I call his music "Southern Rock Fusion.

  • He is a true musician

  • I saw him on that tour at The Strand in SoCal and will never forget it. Superb!

  • If I were to be shipped off to a desert island and was told I can only bring the music of one guitar player with me it would be Morse without hesitation. I own all of the Dixie Dregs and Steve Morse solo albums and I still enjoy listening to them often. Steve's ability to play at a high level in so many different styles is mind boggling. Also notice how he controls the volume knob, tone knob, and pickup selector at various points in a song.

Steve is a living legend, one of the best ever!

  • Does any one hear a bit of "Lady Madonna" in Dave LaRue's bass starting at 2:03 or is it just me?Steve could throw in a lick from "Lady Madonna"at 2:49 and it would fit.

  • Steve is fantastic, for me the best guitar player ever! I'm talking about music, not only trying to impressive others with fast notes. For me, music must be in first place, and then technique should help the art. In Steve's case, good music and thechnique found a perfect high level combination. Congratulations to him!

  • i have his pick :D

  • If you have ever seen him live--its game over! Awesome.

  • @elationinc vai sucks. he just turns the g3s into wankfests. vai is very musically educated, but it doesnt matter because of joe satriani's ONLY failure: he failed to teach vai the importance of rests. but satriani, petrucci, and morse would rock. not necessarily my 3 all time favs, but would make the most sense

  • @1JAT1 Vai is just an acquired taste. He truly is an amazing musician, i think he just likes to let loose a bit on the G3's.... If you'd listened to more of his catalogue there's some brilliant compositions on there.

Petrucci has a lot more trouble trying to stop these days... he was easier on the ears back in the early nineties.

Don't get me wrong, I love ALL these guys and own most of their albums, but you're being a bit close-minded is all.

Morse is my favourite though.. so talented

  • @hendrixian1 I'm with you man! Steve is the cream of the crop! - Mike

  • steve can pick 13notes per second... shawn lane could pick 18notes per second... but no matter how fast shawn lane could pick i just couldn't get to be impressed with him the way im impressed with this guy...

  • Glad to see Steve getting these great comments. The man is king.

  • ass kickin!!!

  • morse-gambale-jeff beck...g3 dream team!

  • @PRODIGYat43 G3 has to have Joe Satch since he owns it. But yeh that would be sick!

  • great job with right hand..see it :))

  • 2:34-2:40!!!

  • @eerieinhabitants insane lick jajaja

  • hey look! its dave mustaine on bass! lol

  • Petrucci Ones Said Morse is His Favorite Guitar Player, i Know Why!!

  • R.E.M are thieves ;)

  • @adismad1989 Huh?

  • wish all the best my friend

    see jou

    greeting ati.

    love jour play

  • Its a sexual experience, nothing more, nothing less. So give it up: sex has nothing to do with character growth. Condemn me if you want. That's OK! Listen to Bach, Brahms, and Beethoven. Your house plants will thank you.

  • @utopiandesign - Morse listens to all those guys; if you weren't an idiot, and actually paid attention, you'd know that.

Classical snobs are even worse than rock snobs. Go elsewhere.

  • @jfl440 I appreciate your concern. But I can fart any sound and identify the frequency in hertz. This is not to brag but to illustrate the simple lesson how sound blesses or stunts life's growth. Play your preferred music to your common houseplants for one month then play Bach, Beethoven or Brahms for the second month. Measure their growth then get back to me which one blessed their nourishment. The fable of evolution is screwed when we observe the growth of life under Biblical terms vs. yours.

  • @utopiandesign Lol, the "fable of evolution" really dude? You Christians seriously crack me up somtimes. The only thing funnier than your labeling of evoltution as a fable is that in the same breath you speak of the Bible as if it isn't a fable. We're getting of topic though since this is a Steve Morse video and not some kind of stupid ass religious bullshit. So yea, now that im done with that i would like to say that Morse is fucking amazing and has a big influence on me as a guitarist.

  • I learned Steve's right-hand muting technique in a magazine lesson he did several years ago and have been using it ever since. He creates a bridge with his palm allowing him to mute the lower and higher strings at the same time while letting the strings he is playing to ring. It kills any extraneous noise very effectively

  • Good job he joined Deep Purple. Looks like he's only good for composing mobile phone tones by himself.

  • Słucham m.in.

  • i saw him

in brisbane with deep purple it was Awesome

  • @brushedsquid i'll see him on july, 29th in italy... it must be fantastic!

  • skin o' my teeth?

  • He have the shred he have the feel he is the god!!!

  • fast

  • Someone actually called him a one trick pony!!!-- Not to worry.. when they finally stop getting their bottoms powdered and pampered by mommy they will understand true talent!!

  • this is great!!! thank you for existing steve

  • yeahhhhhhhhhhhh hero:))

  • add 4th member Tommy Emmanuel on hybrid flattop tele and electric banjo/guitar

  • Steve Morse is great!

  • Yea Steve Morse on G3 would be awesome!!

  • @guitarater Steve Morse was in the g3 in 2001

  • i want!!!

  • who wants full tabs of this version?

  • every time i see this guy play i become even more amazed at his depth of talent...

  • awsome!!

  • great player! I first saw him perform while I was going to GIT.

  • WaY tO wOrK iT!

  • You know what's funny? How the hell can Steve Morse play so accurately when fuckin with his knobs on his guitar and his pedals during the entire song? It's ridiculous lol. He changes his tone every five seconds and is still playing brilliantly. Wow!

  • he looks all pissed off in the start XD

  • puta que me o pario......

  • if you watch the word AMAZING closely you see it means Steve Morse!

  • I absolutely love steve morse. One of my favorite guitarists. And the bassist and drummer arent half bad either lol

  • Can you imagine how good they must be to play with Steve?

Both Dave and Van are at the top of their game!!!

  • Only one word : wow!!!

  • There are so many great guitarists named Steve...must be something with the name. LOL!

  • i love this song. his new album doesn't seem nearly as interesting or soulful to me. still love him though, cant wait to see him a week from sunday in sacramento, ca. hope he plays a lot from the first 4 SMB albums.

  • wow, i kinda wish he played this when i saw him, but oh well. it was a magical show, i dont know how else to describe it. first row, absolutely amazing

  • in my humble opinion, the best out there, right now. always remembered when players are talking of their favorites, but it seems he's always forgotten in the place of eddy van halen, slash, or hell, i've even seen ace frehley, as a favorite. no offense. they have mastered their styles. morse seems to have mastered all styles. not forgetting, this is almost two decades ago, when morse was "crap". he's only better now. what a God given gift.

  • Steve Morse was never *crap.*

  • Lol at his guitar at 2:32, that is a shitload of

    pickup-configurations right there!

  • daves still here with steve morse

    after all these years

  • I like the way he uses the volume control while finger picking.

  • Steve Morse is just amazing on guitar. There is so much to like about the music he plays. So varied and melodic with a very good beat. Always a pleasure to see this guy play guitar.

  • @PaulC39 i couldn't agree more.i've seen him only once playing live but since than he's in my top 5 guitarists, next to satriani, gilbert, betencourt & stefanovski!

  • wow.i will download now his tracks...

  • E ESSA CAMISETA DO SALGUEIRO HEIN???

  • EH O CALDEIRAOOOOO

  • awesome, awesome.

  • bom pra kraio!!!!!

  • Such a nice tone!

  • Is that some DVD?

  • Believe it or not, that's from an instructional video. It's called "The Definitive Steve Morse."

  • that chorus is so good.

  • one word...brilliant

  • pure simple classic creative instrumental rock song.

  • Great guitarist and instrumental. Steve Morse is awesome! Southern Steel is one of his best albums.

  • Dave!!!!!!!!!! you are Goooodddd!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for posting this. This is the first time I get to finally hear this guy. Wow! Is he amazing or what? Such a sweet rich tone. I'm a fan for life.

  • Damn, Steve gets a Juicy tone with that Axe...!

  • Never listened to Steve Morse before even though I knew he was a guitar legend. This is BRILLIANT!!!!! Now I just got to hear more of Steve's music ... absolutely great

  • Love this song, great melody, great tone. I've never seen any guitarist switch pickups as much as Steve.

  • Watch yngwie closely

  • LEGENDARYYYY god i love his work!

  • Great song! Heavy and country at the same time!

  • steve is a god. no body seems so impresive to me like him.

  • great sound

  • me gustaria ver algun dia un G3 entre steve morse, andy timmons y paul gilbert...uufff seria genial.

  • i love this song, really reminds me alot of eric johnson stuff, like his song from "seven worlds" "alone with you"

  • Steve is soooo Awsome

  • Steve Morse on g3 tour please =)

  • @Siganiv oh HELL YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

  • Comment removed

  • @Siganiv Hell yeah, it would be fantastic!

  • @Siganiv Yeah, that's what I'M talkin' about!

  • @Siganiv They ll never let him play with them XD...TOO MUCH GUITARIST!

  • @Siganiv I think he's too good for them two posers,so maybe that is not the best idea

  • this is the 1980s basketball montage song

  • steve morse has been called as the musician's musician and this is obviously proof of that.

  • I love that Samurais Riseing Sun shirt!

  • so tastey!!

  • Does anyone know what delay pedal he uses?

  • Electro harmonix.

  • Dave LaRue on bass, LOVE IT

  • simply the best

  • Pure talent. It's ashame that he isn't exposed to a wider audience. He has all the chops and licks but uses them in a very tasteful way.

  • You're right man, it's like he has the Ferrari but only floors it now and again, but when he does...

  • hint: try to watch the video paying attention only to his right hand. It's amazing how he controls the volume and tone and switch pickups the whole song

  • Heaven-sent guitarist..long live Morse

  • imagination. dexterity. blistering speed. passion. knowledge of instrument. there is no better. arguments welcome.

  • Arguing would be a waste of time. There are a few who approach him...but none so consistently ass kicking good for such a long time. I was under age sneaking into clubs in B'Ham Ala. in the mid 70's listenin to the Dixie Dregs. Even then I could play guitar...but this cat....he'd peel your eyeballs back....raise the hair on the back of your neck and send you home to practice. Dregs, nice cats too. One night their road manager "Twiggs" showed me Duanes L.P.! Quite a kick for me! A Duane Lover!

  • Arguing is indeed a waste of time, because I also heard Steve and the Dixie Dregs in the early day's and he did indeed peel your eyeballs back, raise the hair on the back of your neck and send you home to practice, practice practice....it takes more than practice to do what he does, I'm convinced of that. It's built-in.

  • nicely said. He is indeed one of most complete quitar players who can always squeeze every drop of energy out of his intrument....

  • Comment removed

  • He's got insanely long fingers. That helps, believe me. I wish I did, lol

  • I maybe wouldn't go that far...but yes i totally igree that he is a great guitarist with impeccable timing and song structure. Its a pity he doesn't quite get the exposure the other guitarists in his genre got/get. Great Song!

  • i ve 4 smb discs sou stl, cst2cst, struc dam, & strssfst

& most all his othr stuff too

but the 4 smb releases are musical virtuosity of such hi standards and not just morse romaine and larue are the steve morses of drums and bass to me

anyway i dont even know the names of the songs on these discs dont want or need to

i just slip em in the player and listen start to finish

to me like beethoven or bach musta been to fans during their times

    thnx 4 the 'tube

  • da best vibrato in town man!!! steve rocks!!!

  • anyone knows an excact tab for that?

    and dont tell me ultimate-guitar

    ^^

  • Steve Morse can just about play with anybody, using any style, and did you know that he was named Best Overall Guitarist in five consecutive guitar player reader polls, which he was then made ineligible, giving Vai and Satriani their shots at the title.

  • i still think he deserves more credit tho!

  • anyone know if Steve will tour again in the US solo or with the Dregs again? Nice comment sqop, couldn't agree more.

  • i saw him at a clinic and he said that the dregs were planning on making a new album. but, that was like a year ago, lol.

  • His website says that he has a SMB album coming out in september, with a tour to follow, but looking at deep purple's schedule...I can't see it till the winter.

  • I hate him in a good way!

I play guitar but is no where near his versatility after playing 23 yrs!

  • He´s unrated dude, that´s all.

I really worship this guy, in a good way

  • yeeeeah fucking steve!! chicken picking rulez :D

  • Steve Morse = AWESOOOME!

  • one of the best tunes from this band

    imo

  • Wow

I bet even Chuck Norris thinks this is awesome

Anyone know where to find a tab?
