his tone here is so different than his engl tone, not sure which sound i like more. maybe they're both just as good, just different for different times and slight changes in playing style
I've watched this video many times. It is just a great performance. I like this version better than the studio recording. Great use of harmonics. Great mix of rocking and melodic lines. Rock on, Steve!
Buckethead - Morse wipes the floor with those hacks! 5 times guitar player of the year in the 1980's - beating the likes of Stevie Ray, Van Halen, DiMiola, Holdsorth and malmsteen in their prime.
@symbolsim To be honest I haven't really listened to him that much, but damn I love his way of combining blues feel and chicken picking with arpeggios.
@BLACKMAGICMETALMAN12 He is not underrated, he was chosen best guitar player several years, he is just less known than players like the ones u have mentioned.
If I were to be shipped off to a desert island and was told I can only bring the music of one guitar player with me it would be Morse without hesitation. I own all of the Dixie Dregs and Steve Morse solo albums and I still enjoy listening to them often. Steve's ability to play at a high level in so many different styles is mind boggling. Also notice how he controls the volume knob, tone knob, and pickup selector at various points in a song.
Does any one hear a bit of "Lady Madonna" in Dave LaRue's bass starting at 2:03 or is it just me?Steve could throw in a lick from "Lady Madonna"at 2:49 and it would fit.
Steve is fantastic, for me the best guitar player ever! I'm talking about music, not only trying to impress others with fast loud notes. For me, music must be in first place, and then technique should help the art. In Steve's case, good music and thechnique found a perfect high level combination. Congratulations to him!

@elationinc vai sucks. he just turns the g3s into wankfests. vai is very musically educated, but it doesnt matter because of joe satriani's ONLY failure: he failed to teach vai the importance of rests. but satriani, petrucci, and morse would rock. not necessarily my 3 all time favs, but would make the most sense
@1JAT1 Vai is just an acquired taste. He truly is an amazing musician, i think he just likes to let loose a bit on the G3's.... If you'd listened to more of his catalogue there's some brilliant compositions on there.
Petrucci has a lot more trouble trying to stop these days... he was easier on the ears back in the early nineties.
Don't get me wrong, I love ALL these guys and own most of their albums, but you're being a bit close-minded is all.
steve can pick 13notes per second... shawn lane could pick 18notes per second... but no matter how fast shawn lane could pick i just couldn't get to be impressed with him the way im impressed with this guy...
Its a sexual experience, nothing more, nothing less. So give it up: sex has nothing to do with character growth. Condemn me if you want. That's OK! Listen to Bach, Brahms, and Beethoven. Your house plants will thank you.
@jfl440 I appreciate your concern. But I can fart any sound and identify the frequency in hertz. This is not to brag but to illustrate the simple lesson how sound blesses or stunts life's growth. Play your preferred music to your common houseplants for one month then play Bach, Beethoven or Brahms for the second month. Measure their growth then get back to me which one blessed their nourishment. The fable of evolution is screwed when we observe the growth of life under Biblical terms vs. yours.
@utopiandesign Lol, the "fable of evolution" really dude? You Christians seriously crack me up somtimes. The only thing funnier than your labeling of evoltution as a fable is that in the same breath you speak of the Bible as if it isn't a fable. We're getting of topic though since this is a Steve Morse video and not some kind of stupid ass religious bullshit. So yea, now that im done with that i would like to say that Morse is fucking amazing and has a big influence on me as a guitarist.
I learned Steve's right-hand muting technique in a magazine lesson he did several years ago and have been using it ever since. He creates a bridge with his palm allowing him to mute the lower and higher strings at the same time while letting the strings he is playing to ring. It kills any extraneous noise very effectively
Słucham m.in.
Someone actually called him a one trick pony!!!-- Not to worry.. when they finally stop getting their bottoms powdered and pampered by mommy they will understand true talent!!
You know what's funny? How the hell can Steve Morse play so accurately when fuckin with his knobs on his guitar and his pedals during the entire song? It's ridiculous lol. He changes his tone every five seconds and is still playing brilliantly. Wow!
i love this song. his new album doesn't seem nearly as interesting or soulful to me. still love him though, cant wait to see him a week from sunday in sacramento, ca. hope he plays a lot from the first 4 SMB albums.
