  • man really looks awesome =)

  • How exactly did you do those outdoor shadows?

  • @omgcheez

I used two simple spotlights. The scene being a valley covers up that fact a bit by making it look like theres only small parts where the sunlight can get through to the ground. So I was basically trying to make a virtue out of necessity. Unfortunately that doesn't work with any kind of scene. Wish we finally had parallel sunlight shadows.

  • @SachielMF

I love your scenery man! It seriously looks like Skyrim, imagine this was in 2010!

(about the outdoor shadows)....And the shadows created by the spotlight are all baked? Man, I can't imagine UV unwrapping and texturing all that, oh my god! XD

By the way, do you use blender for texturing/normalmapping/baking or other programs?

    ...subbed

  • @Ninja9191

Thanks. And nothing is baked, that's why I used spotlights. As for texturemapping, I also use Shadermap Pro (which is about 20€, there's a free version, too) and/or Insane Bump (which is not Crazy Bump).

  • @SachielMF Thank you for your answer! Still doing this stuff?

  • @Ninja9191

Using Blender, yes. I've abandoned this particular project quite a while ago, though. Maybe when there's an easy solution to import meshes to Skyrim I'm more at it again. Until then it's Minecraft and drawing practice (for which I find Blender pretty helpful for perspective checking).

  • looks like skyrim :P

  • Awesome

  • @KillBeKilledCOD He just created a camera. Added keyboard sensors.. mouselook.. motion..done! (Propably)

  • @highdownhybrid

Actually I didn't really create anything apart from the assets. To everyone interested: There's a bunch of mouselook scripts on blenderartists. I recommend you go there first and just have a look at the Game Engine Resources corner.

  • ALAN WAKE! Looks awesome! :D

  • how do you fly around like that please make a totural

  • Wow Cool!

  • skyrim

    lol

  • :D

  • nice joob :)

I want to do that, but i think my Mac mini is to slow for this awesome work :(.

    Hmm, but really nice.

  • Can you make a tutorial on how to make this or atleast a smaller version of this? Great Job! This is to say the least, Awesome!

  • how do u get cry engin

  • @stinkbag333

Buy Crysis, use Sandbox Editor, create maps, tinker around endlessly, waste time, post about it in Youtube comments.

  • @SachielMF Or, you can download the cryengine 3 sdk for free and not need to get any of their games.

  • @ethansk8ter

True. When I wrote that comment Sandbox 3 SDK hadn't released. Great tool to play around with. As is the case with the UDK.

  • :O WOW! That's AMAZING, WONDERFUL! Good job:)

  • Lovely environment a beautiful piece of work

  • Aww... I was hoping u can walk around, shooting enemies in this amazing vista.

  • This looks like a scene from one of my imaginations

  • Omg! Blender is almost as powerful as cryengine!? Well, if it can run a game at smooth framerate and and with such depth in detail.

  • @GeoJJx

Thanks but no. Creating a scene that remotely resembles Crysis isn't actually that hard if you don't care too much about performance since you've got only one scene, not a level with gameplay and the more fancy techy stuff the Cryengine offers.

  • is this a game or animation? like are you using arrows to move or did u animate camera? If its a game, its awsome! no lag lol, im new to this Screen space ambient occulision rendering technique :P great job!

  • @iRoxproductions

Well, it's realtime and I did steer it with WASD+mouse but it's also not really a game. It did get somewhat slower after I was experimenting with adding more game elements. So actually it could be called a proto game demo.

And don't forget that I only adapted the SSAO script. It's not mine.

Btw, when I was young, back in the days, we called lag a "slowdown" and our "lag" meant problems with internet latency. ;p

  • @SachielMF oh haha, any tutorials on how to do the waterfall?

  • @SachielMF lag still is internet latency, people just misuse the word ;D

  • @GameDesignGuru

Glad I'm not alone on this. ;)

  • Amazing Water, this is a little demonstrate of the power of the BGE, AMAZING!

  • @B1OHACKER

Can't say, really. I didn't have a plan, it was more just doing this thing, than that, and eventually putting it together, always trying out stuff. Spent a few hours a day for several month with long pauses doing nothing in between.

As for a link, nah, it's too unoptimized. Actually it's made of only three (or so) assets. What makes them stand out are the python scripts, really. So, I think it's better to check them out and start playing around a little.

  • looks a lot like a halo 2 map

or what could have been a halo 3 map

  • You can make this in Blender? WOW it's amazing!

  • Really great graphics. Beautiful rocks and trees. You should make something out of this - with 2.5, the BGE is a bit faster. Maybe you can squeeze some gameplay into it.

  • could you please make a tutorial and help the weak x) !

  • oh wow that is pretty awesome. It looks like halo...lol

  • @068ant true hehe

  • the bge is amazing. 'nuff said.

  • sexy

  • Pretty awesome! You did this in 2.49?

  • @TheAppleNewsreeI

Thanks and yep, 2.49b to be precise. ;)

  • how did you make the water flow?

  • @DudeSenor

I followed the tutorial from Vitor Balbio called "Tutorial: Criação de água para cachoeira com BGE" (I'd link to the video but YT doesn't let me).

    It's Portuguese but understandable nonetheless.

  • damnn, i really suck at graphics, but im making a fps (for fun) and im also learning python to make it easier. the only scripts i have are for mouselook, and bulletholes(using rays). but ive managed to figure out enough logic on my own to make basic enemy AI, ammo with reloading(very difficult, at least without python, but certainly doable) i just wish i even have decent animations, i just wish i could make graphics like that.

  • @asfadasfa1234 i cant do any of that except for ammo and reloading i think thats the easiest thing to do lol

  • woooow *-* really cool

  • That is Blender! Wow I like it!

  • Could you possibly re-upload the .blend? The old one is gone

  • PlayStation 5 graphics.

  • @KongregateNews Playstation 90 Graphics*

  • @VaygrX Chuck Norris Graphics*

  • @rokstar234 No, Chuck Norris engine is way powerfull than this, But This is more like playstation 90 GHraphics :D

  • @VaygrX yeah i know it were a compliment.... if it really were Chuck Norris engine our own eyes would be Obsolete, so no one has actually seen it

  • @VaygrX take a look at UNCHARTED 2 at ps3.

  • This is the best work i have seen in Blender Gameengine. I developed much in this way but this is awsome. So i hope you can see that i know what is really good, you can look at my profile so that you can get a imagination of it.

    Nice and 9 of 10 Stars :)

  • most beatifull blender landscape ever seen in blenderrr

  • Holy shit man great work.

  • man its :o awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome :D

  • WTF?!? How do you do this? It´s looking so nice! Thats a good job!

  • Thank you Thank you Thank you for restoring my faith in blender artists!

  • HOLY COW DUDE!!! O-M-G GRAPHICS! PLEASE GIVE ME SOME TIPS!!!! PLEASE!

  • Wow, that' looks great!

  • That is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i dont realy get how u do like this. do u build the entire level in the scene u see in blender ? were u make the 3dmodel?

  • @Necry3d yeah dude, would like to know the same thing.

Also your system specs and about the textures (use of normal maps) and poly count of the scene.... it maybe a little bit for asking... but i have nothing to loose :P

Aside questions. HOLLY CRAP THATS FREAKING AMAZING. BGE keeps amazing me every day throught the talent of people like you. Cheers up.

  • @SMMGOGO and Necry3d

Facecount is around 185.000 Tris. And yes, it is entirely built "in the scene u see in Blender".

    Running on a Phenom II X4 955 with a GTX 275.

  • That looks great!

By the way, how do you make the materials double sided with glsl??

I have been trying to figure that out for a while...

  • @NoslenSotnas

In the editing buttons tab there's a panel called "texture face" when in editing mode. The model has to be unwrapped, though, to make the panel appear.

There you'll have a button called "Twoside" under "Active Face Mode", which you have to push. If it doesn't work, make sure you select every face in editing mode a click on the "copy" button in the panel.

  • @SachielMF I finally figured that out a few weeks ago, but thanks for your answer anyway! :)

  • Don't hold back dude its to realistic for a game because its more than a game its somthing better!! Texture tutorial plz!!!

  • how did you get shadows in the game engine it looks very good

  • @d1341994

Apart from one non-shadowing hemilight it's just two spotlights with buffered shadows for the sunnier parts.

  • @SachielMF Would you get much of a fps boost with baked shadows?

  • @thehen2

Depends. I don't think I'd get a much higher framerate if I cut down on the 2 spotlights as it's quite high already. On slower rigs or on bigger scenes it will make a difference, of course, or if you want to have "real" parallel sunlight.

Baking AO would make it run smoother on slower PCs, too, but it'd require more tweaking and wouldn't be as cool as real time SSAO. ;)

  • Remarkable, genius.

  • This map only contains a little over 115k verts?? wow. Good textures then lol.

  • Holy jeez... I didn't know blender was capable of this kind of rending! It's beautiful fantastic job!

  • yes, nice

  • Really awesome work man! How long did it take you to create it and how much verticles is it in total?

  • @naardeark

Thanks. It took me several evenings, can't recall how much really. And it consists of 116971 verts.

  • @SachielMF

Hmm, that ain't too bad at all. But don't you think it's a little to realistic for a game? Even though this looks so good. xD

I really want to try it on my computer. ^^

  • Awesome environment work. Would love to see a closer shot of that waterfall.

  • @all the others

    Thanks a lot. :)

Hoping to be able release the scene soon so you can see how simple everything is, really.

  • WOW!!

  • Really awesome work, I was thinking the other day how you never see very many landscapes, iff ever you decide to release that to the general public I want to be the first to know. Awesome work.

  • @Inferno1170

Yep. I was wondering the same. There are so many great tutorials out there but noone ever seems to use them to put together something more than a rock or a tree at a time.

  • @SachielMF I'm wanting to start a landscaping campaign soon, to bring more landscapes to BA, I'm going to start by making tutorials of how I make mine, then I hope to learn more from comments by other people.

  • Absolutely beautiful !

    The rocks are impressive.

  • nice stuff, im guessing you are using GLSL, if so how many Frames are you getting on your PC, looks pretty smooth!

Great job, i would like to see this worked on more!

    -Matt

  • @DerangedGames

I get around 60 FPS. Small drops now and then but pretty smooth still. There's only one script for camera movement active, though, so every script more sophisticated would probably slow down the scene more.

  • WOW... my eyes popped out of head like a cartoon character when i saw this. Amazing

  • nice!!!!!

  • well done.

  • love it!

  • WOAH!!!...(Nuff said)
