The game itself is not overrated, however the developers DO milk the great game far to much. I think they are trying to ruin the game on purpose so we stop asking for a remake, though I doubt it will work.

Anyway a remake of FF6 and FF7 would be awesome, because I'm a fan of the entire series and those two where the best.

I couldn't give a shit whether FFVII is overrated or not. It was the first real RPG I played, and withstands the test of time exceptionally well. The OST is brilliant. The story, while not up to say, the character development of VI, is among the best in the series, and good in its own right. Just because a few rabid fanboys give the game a bad name, and Square are milking it now, doesn't make the original a bad game.

You know what, I'm tired of people saying FF7 is overrated when it really isn't. Sure it's over hyped, but so are the Metal Gear, Castlevania, and Resident Evil games. And a ton people say that FF7 is what sold the PS, and who can forget the uproar about Aerith's death? Think about it: if FF7 was overrated none of the media involved with it would be so well received by fans and critics alike. Great list by the way.

Well said, I completely agree. Even though someone doesn't like a game as much as others did doesn't give them the right to call it overrated. Maybe overstated or overhyped works better, but there's a reason why it is so, after all.

I think the original FF7 isn't overrated... The story has depth more than most of the newer FF games and those characters were really lovable.. For me the original FF7 was the best of the series..

To be honest I hate it how square enix tries to milk as much money as possible with those extra FF7 games.. I honestly hate it, they aren't even a fraction as good as FF7 was... -.-

I remember staying around in Cosmo Canyon only to listen to this tracks. Also, Seto and Red XIII story was one of the best in the whole game :) And i have to agree that many games receive far more credit then they deserve. As for FFVII, no amount of credit is enough!

It may be 'accalimed as the best soundtrack' but the reality is CT wasn't that good a game, and often what makes people like a game's music is remembering playing the game itself and getting nostalgia. FF7 is timeless.

The game is overrate mainly because Square milks the hell out of it for a quick buck. Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core, Advent Children and even cell phone games come from FF7. Square revamps 7 so much it's long overdue for them to expand the story of ANY other FF title.

I agree, but the game itself isnt overrated. The materia system is overrated a bit, but it's just that I like my characters to have abilities of their own like in FF4-6. Inn FF7 besides limits, all characters are the same.

@lostworldcomms They come from FFVII BECAUSE it was popular, all those things you listed? came out way after FFVII. and for not expanding any other FF title? only 1 FF title was 'expanded' at that was X (as in X-2) VII got a movie to follow on, because it is probally the most popular FF title, generally speaking and it was and still is my faveroute game of all time...To be honest I don't count things like Dirge of Cerberus as an expansion as it isnt titled as FFVII, unlike the movie. my 2 cents.

there was a trailer for PS3 where some sequences of ff7 were redesigned, new incredible graphics, but same game.

Thousands of viewers asked if there will be a ff7 again only with new gen graphics
