  • Oooh Miss Betty your house sure looks nice :)

  • This recipe looks amazing. It may seem silly but Ioved seeing your two tablespoon measure. I've never seen one before! Seems like a great thing to have!

  • @ThePinkMyth It is really handy!

    --Betty :)

  • i have to try it sometime

  • @gaylebalbach32 I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for commenting!

  • I can't cook any of the dishes because I'm a college student in a dorm with no kitchen, but I still love watching these videos. It's a great de-stresser.

  • @purplemary808 Thanks for your lovely comment! I hope your school will allow you to have a crock pot or something. I know you would enjoy cooking some of your food.

  • Betty that looks fantastic. Nothing like we would ever get in Ontario, too bad for us!

  • @BillKing8888 Thanks for the compliment; I'm sorry the ingredients aren't available in Ontario!

  • @Kivpin I'm "Mom" to lots of viewers out there!

    --Betty :)

  • it looks really nice, i must say...but isnt it a little unhealthy with that sauce, and all those fried stuff? ;) Anyway, they look really yummy!

  • @PilotOfTime Yes, I could have made it healthier. I am very health conscious, but I realize that my viewers don't want every recipe to be diet food. I try to make a little something for everyone. You can pick and choose among my recipes and have a very healthy diet (or adapt them), or you can find lots of decadent desserts, etc. Thanks for commenting!

  • @bettyskitchen Makes sense, really enjoy your videos! Happy cooking, betty!

  • My family loved this Betty. I even made the fried pickle slices, which was all new for me. Our 10yo especially liked those. :-) thanks!

  • @ShushLorraine Thanks for your wonderful feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, I copied your recipe and when I went to make it, I saw that it said 2 12 oz cans, but you meant 2 6 oz cans. I came back online to make sure by your video. Just letting you know. There were so many comments and I didn't look at all of them. You may have already talked about this. Thanks!

  • @ShushLorraine Thanks for noticing--that's a big difference!'

    --Betty :)

  • The meal looks so mesmerizing, and mouth-watering! I'm going to make this for my girlfriend for a lunch date. Thank you for the idea!

I have a few questions, though. Since the red pepper is pretty strong, is it ok to replace it with black pepper, and can I use olive oil instead of butter to fry the crab cakes? :D

  • @mattheo321 Thanks for your lovely comment! Yes, you may omit the red pepper, and just add a dash of black pepper. Also, olive oil will be fine for frying the crab cakes. That is so sweet of you to make lunch for your girlfriend!

    --Betty :)

  • OMG... it looks so tasty!!! yay..... I love your crab cake!!! Even a Crabby Patty can't beat this!

  • @lilshinodahahn Rick here--I wanted Betty to call this a Crabby Patty, but she wouldn't.

With a four-year-old around, a guy really broadens his perspectives

  • Betty, if one uses sea salt the flavor of one's prepared dishes is so much better. Try it! Plus, it is lower in sodium and higher in trace minerals.

  • Perfect! I will check that one out as well.

  • Looks great! Would this recipe work with canned salmon as well?

  • @ruggend Yes, canned salmon would be great! I have a video on salmon cakes, if you prefer that one.

    --Betty :)

  • Nice looking sandwich!!! Thanks for sharing!!

  • Num! I'm going to have to make that this weekend! :)

  • Num! I'm going to have to make this this weekend! :)

  • Those look good, I don't really care for the Italian flavored bread crumbs, do you think it would be too bland with plain bread crumbs? Maybe add some salt, pepper, or some other spices, but not oregano?

  • @Robind0514 The plain bread crumbs will be fine, and you can add any herbs and spices that you like!

    --Betty :)

  • Looks soooooooooooo good! Thanks Betty!

  • You videos are so entertaining!!

  • whats the difference between these and cutlets? Are they the same thing?

  • @pacman211 Cutlets a single pieces of meat, usually chicken, pork, veal, etc. With fish they are filets or steaks, Other seafood is usually in pieces, like crab, and that's a good reason for making them into patties or cakes.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen ah! thanks Betty! :)

  • Betty, I think I just gained 10 lbs. just looking at that wonderful crab cake, deep fried pickles and cole slaw dishes you've displayed! LOL Thanks, for the great crab cake recipe, I'm going to try it real soon.

  • Shame on you Betty! You did it again, Like always it made me Hungry again.

  • @bettyskichen your videos make me hungry loll

  • helllo chef! i have a question, can i substitute mayo with something else? i really don't like it that much.

    thaanx

  • @Mirage507 You could use yogurt in place of the mayonnaise.

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, Again you and Rick do a fabulous job with all that you do. Thanks so much for all of the effort put into the recipes and filming. I just need to start trying some of what you do.

  • very beautiful meal makes me think I am hungry and I ate not to long ago! Great video as usual, thanks for sharing!

  • Oh good ! I'm soooo happy you made the crabcakes Betty = ) I can't wait to make them!! I was just asking a girl at work how she made them. She said it had been a while and couldn't really remember what all went in. Ahwww now I know. Thank you Betty !!! Oh this makes me sooo happy !

  • @ohpineapples That's great! I also have Betty's Kickin' Crab Cakes in bettyskitchen that has onion, red bell pepper, and garlic, and a few other differences, so it has a different taste from these.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Thanks! I will check that out. Ohh also Betty - you know how you always use that 4% fat ground beef & you said it was named brand? I found it! I've been buying it know for a couples months. It just became available in our store clear out here. It's really, really good beef. I gotta tell ya tho, I never get any fat off that ground beef. A little salt & pepper & it's sooo good & much healthier. Thanks b/c if it wasn't for you I problably wouldn't have noticed it.Thanks!

  • Hi Betty...I am allergic to shell fish (crab, shrimp, lobster, etc..) but I was wondering if I could use the white fish fake "krab" to make this recipe?

  • @stellaluna4u2 Yes, if it comes in chunks, you will need to chop it up a little, but it will taste good in this sandwich.

    --Betty :)

  • I will have to try that. However I will just have mine as plain crabcakes. not a sandwich person. oh i he same bread crumbs..

  • We love crab cakes. We actually had them for dinner on Tuesday. So delicious.

  • You should do something with BBQ, and Pizza.

  • This looks a wonderful sandwich and very tasty too Betty. I will be trying this next week after we have been grocery shopping. ;-) Richard

  • Love the Video Betty the Crab cakes look delicious.

  • this looks so gooood. i have never had a crab cake only salmon cake but i will try this. i never new u could get crab in a can

  • @notnormalbuzz Yes, the canned crab should be close to the canned salmon, and it's a nice change occasionally. I hope you are having a beautiful day, Ben!

    Love,

    --Betty :)

  • Dear Betty! This looks so delicious! I may need to run to the store later to get the ingredients. Hope all is well your way. You look beautiful as always! Talk to you soon! Much love to you and your family...

  • @usafireandrescue Hi Amy! It's nice to hear from you! I've checked your page several times recently to see if you have a new recipe; I was a little worried about you. It's really nice to hear your cheerful "voice" again!

    Love to you and yours,

    --Betty :)

  • Your the best betty! Looks sooo good and love how you set up the meal with the side dishes, dessert, drink, and the main dish! You make it look sooo good! Thank you!

  • Oh Betty! Why don't you have a show on Food Network? You would be awesome! I made your fried apple pies, they are delicious! Love Carter's new painting! Cute!

What do you think about using tuna instead of crab? My family don't really like crab so I need to use fish or i don'T know.

  • @Bindzso You could use canned tuna fish or canned salmon. Either would give you a nice fish cake. I'm glad you enjoyed the fried apple pies! Thanks for your feedback and for your nice compliments!

    --Betty :)

  • Yum...Lip Smackers! Your Videos Are FAB!

  • Oh my heavens Mrs. Betty...this looks delicious!!!!!!!

  • i will make this tonight i made the sauce already :) also i had a question i have a gallon of honey and its all crystalizwd now is it still good? or should i throw it away?

  • @DreamloverLambi

Honey is nature's sugar and a tasty addition to many things, but over time it can crystallize, causing a little grief. Don't worry! There are ways to restore it to its natural state!

    Instructions:

    1. Take the honey and seal its container.

    2. Run your sink full of hot water.

    3. Put the honey container in the hot water and watch until the honey melts to its normal state.

    4. Enjoy!

    --Betty :)

  • Hey Betty! I was just wondering if you could make a dessert chocolate volcano? Thanks!

  • @kwelgirl15 I have a Chocolate Lava Cake in bettyskitchen, but I plan to do a Chocolate Volcano Cake that is somewhat different. I will do it after the fall and Halloween recipes are finished. Thanks for the reminder!
