I hate to say it but he does this better than Hendrix did. That sound is much more intense and structured. Really no one plays cord progression and notes like that any more. Over 30 years ago and still has a unique sound.

Saw Frank a couple of times in the 70's - did a version of the Star Spangled Banner that made Hendrix turn in his grave. So much talent but never had that BIG hit or album - Frank was smart enough to see it - his album "Whats Next?" has him in a mechanics outfit.

I wonder if Mahogany Rush ever played with Motorhead? Lemmy was a roadie for the Jimi Hendrix Experience. It could still happen... Frank keeps Jimi alive and well. enthusiasm and felt sorry for him. I guess he wasn't doing so well when he was selling computers with his wife either. A legend like Frank deserves a legendary bank account.

I think that for the type of music he plays, and the few studio albums he has released, he is hugely successful. Great guitar solo's don't always translate into great songs.

But he still had a head start on say guys like Vai, Satriani, etc. He wrote and recorded a lot of interesting maybe not commercially appealing stuff and don't forget he also produced all his albums. I saw Frank Marino in the late 70's at "The She Night Club" in Dayton, Ohio and he was awesome!!! Funny, back then guitarist pureists would say he was good but he uses a number of electronic special effects to get his sound and today every guitar player has a number of special effects in his rig.
