There is no doubt Frank is the greatest! Copycats like Jimi Hendrix,Uli Jon Roth,Robin Trower,Stevie Ray Vaughan,Randy Hansen, etc. come very close at times ,no doubt, but Frank will always be the Godfather!
caught a drumstick and a pick at a show in tenn in 79,always worked our way to the very front,my hair and beard would blow in the sound waves from the marshalls..i guess between concerts and gun fire is why i cant hear worth a damn now
I hate to say it but he does this better than Hendrix did. That sound is much more intense and structured. Really no one plays cord progression and notes like that any more. Over 30 years ago and still has a unique sound.
Saw Frank a couple of times in the 70's - did a version of the Star Spangled Banner that made Hendrix turn in his grave. So much talent but never had that BIG hit or album - Frank was smart enough to see it - his album "Whats Next?" has him in a mechanics outfit.
mr baronass :Frank constantly toured in the U.S. Everyone has a home! In the southern states he always filled stadiums unlike Quebec.! He peaked the same time as Ted Nugent and Aerosmith. Disco killed the rock scene (temporarily) because women wanted to dance. Thank you Van Halen for bringing out something fresh.Frank is # 1 always in my book !
And this guy is not in the Rock -n- Roll Hall of Fame, and Madonna is...?....

@apples13able Ah, let us not talk falsely now, cuz the hour's getting late...Perhaps, nobody is up on his word these days in tinsel town and the world of Gaga and Bieber Boy...What a joke...!....And the Rockers Keep The View...!
@LastOfSixMusic I'd heard of Mahogany Rush but didn't realize how great they were. 2 days ago I heard Frank give an interview on a local Radio station, he is so cool. He's the real deal. I wonder if Mahogany Rush ever played with Motorhead? Lemmy was a roadie for the Jimi Hendrix Experience. It could still happen... Frank keeps Jimi alive and well. I hope to experience it if I get the chance. I love that SG with the tremolo! All those analog effects boxes!
Maybe so, I kind of wish he didn't produce his own albums, alot of his songs are similar. Listened to frank off and on since 74, love him as a showman and guitarist, but always something lacking in his song writing.
@roman14032 and i call bullshit on that. back in the 50s and 60s a lot of the famous artists were nowhere near what the industry now considers marketable/not ugly. yes there has always been a focus on presentation in pop music and its outlets, but now its almost entirely superficial and image-driven. its sad an arbitrary standard did become the law.
@zerochaos360 'It is my opinion that if the liberties of this country(USA) are destroyed, it will be by the subtlety of the Roman catholic Jesuit priests, for they are the most crafty, dangerous enemies to civil and religous liberty. @5658patrick .....no,its his brother vince on rythem guitar....watch the vid for poppy from the same show, and you can see him in the background when the lights flash.
Frank's mistake was he stayed and wasted away in that wasteland shithole Quebec.
He and Walter Rossi should have left for the States and claimed the fame and fortune that was due to them. Heck those dumbass peppers like Celine and that bald douche Cirque boss had the foresight. Anyway we can't turn back the clocks
but I'll put Frank light years ahead of that pussy Bono...the Mega douche. I can't believe these clowns weaseled their way to the top. Well there are a lot of jack asses out there.
@nodrush80 I beg to differ. My buddy worked for him during the 80's. He was playing gigs in small pathetic clubs in and around Montreal. A far cry from the Cal Jam. Many nights I used to watch him play without much
enthusiasm and felt sorry for him. I guess he wasn't doing so well when he was selling computers with his wife either. A legend like Frank deserves a legendary bank account.
@MrAssbaron Frank is an awesome soloist.....thats it. His lack of success is due to the fact that he can't write any ( or many) good songs. I think that for the type of music he plays, and the few studio albums he has released, he is hugely successful. Great guitar solo's don't always translate into great songs.
@nodrush80 It's a sign of the times. What was big in the 70's faded fast in the 80's and on. But he still had a head start on say guys like Vai, Satriani, etc. He wrote and recorded a lot of interesting maybe not commercially appealing stuff and don't forget he also produced all his albums. He was a lot more than a soloist.
@MrAssbaron Frank didn't rot in Quebec he stayed where he belonged.Music is not about making money but having fun and thats something only a musician would understand. This guy travelled everywhere and did what he wanted.
so good for him!Oh and about celine we dont give a shit about her..we all know she got up there because of her mouth and im not talking about her singing.
By the way Quebec's a nice place, you should visit and expand your horizons
@TheTriggerfiend I beg to differ on your ignorant comment since I've had a personal connection with Frank in the past, dating from the early 70's 80's & 90's. And as far as visiting Quebec I was born and live in Montreal. Who's the narrow minded prick now...Dick head
