He didn't call Goldman that.

Taxing us to death? What planet do you live on? The top marginal tax rate in 1980 was like 69%. Todays top rate is 35% and you have to earn $373,000 to pay it. Hear that? Average inflation rate over the last ten years was lower than it was in the 1980s when your hero was in office. Besides a little inflation is good because everybody is deeply in debt and they need to pay interest plus principal out of a pool of money which only represents principal loaned by banks, but that's a long subject. Congrats on being rich. I owe a lot of money on my house, and I'll be glad to see some inflation. If you are rich, you pay lower taxes than at any time in US history.

The top is 39% and the incumbent administration wants to raise it to 45%, you wanna pay that much?

And 250,000 is who gets the top bracket.

Plus whatever state, county, property or sales taxes you have to pay.

In California someone would pay 39% plus 9.3% state equaling 48.3 % of their income in taxes alone.

Now imagine those people having to fork over 45 plus 9.3 which means 54.3 % of their income goes to income tax. The violin needs to be played your lazy ass whining, you'll never EARN that.

You don't pay a uniform income tax rate on all income. You pay a lower rate on the first sum up to the second tax bracket, then a higher rate on the next brackets worth and so on. Taxes were much higher for the top bracket than today, and the rich lived quite well then. A society where a tiny elite makes all the money and everyone else is desperate is just counting the days until the guillotine comes out. Read your history.

A society where commerce and capital are taxed into exile and job cuts is what you have at present and then you look around and wonder why. You tie employers hands. A more proportionate tax where a big pie is baked with smaller cuts being taxed throughout.

It is outrageous that 5% of the population pay a majority of the taxes and that over half pay none at all.
