thought this was 1988, but must of been 89. Down near mouth of river saw about 4-6 inches of snow that lasted for about a week, unheard of that far south, I moved further north into Mississippi after Katrina and have yet to see cold weather like that, snow even here is rare.
@elfdog100 Actually, the December 1989 freeze was the 5th coldest weather spell ever recorded here. Feb 1899 was the coldest, Jan. 1985 was the second coldest, Jan. 1888 was the third coldest, Jan. 1930 was the 4th coldest.

I have never seen it that cold there, I remember the last time it snowed though.. and I missed it.
Cold weather is rare in New Orleans, the winters are very nice.

Unlike New England, no one here has snow tires or chains or anything else needed for snow. I guess it's whatever you're used to.

That must have been the coldest weather ever in Louisiana History. I wonder how you kept warm during that bitter cold spell?
