I think it's a prequel to A L I E N, in the sense that it takes place in the same universe and shares some of the same elements, but it probably won't focus on the Xenomorphs we all know and love.
This movie is going to be like another story set in the same universe as the aliens and supposedly predators, are set in, This movie is going to be good.

Prometheus was a man who stole technology from the Gods and created a monster that ate him from the inside while he remained alive. It feasted on his Liver which would then regrow in an eternal curse. Mary Shelley rewrote it as Frankenstein and Ridley decided, when considering how to tell the origin of the Xenomorphs(already inspired by the myth), to reveal his vision.

aliens was basically made for action junkies. so cameron did a good thing with the sequel. he never copied ridley scott (superior director) or tried to replicate alien, cameron instead did his own thing with it.
Alien however builds up tension till the last 25 minutes of the film and then the last 20 odd minutes is really tense. the film that defined sci-fi horror

The u ship is the ship that the astronaut from Riley's original team goes into on U-426. It has to tie into Alien there's no other purpose for tht ship.
i always wonder how the space jockey ship flew!! it was so fucking creepy in Alien ,and h.r giger drew and painted everything on canvas ,the interior of the ship , the egg chamber,jockey,face hugger,baby, xenomorph,but u dont hire him for Aliens?? wtf!!! then cameron claims how effortless it took him to draw the queen with just a pencil on the first couple of sketches.. like has the skill of giger ,has anybody seen some of giger' s paintings ,whole different ballgame

I have seen that scene but never really understood what going on in it, so thanks sharing your ideas about that scene. However, I personnaly don't count deleted scenes or any ideas from the script that was scraped from the final film as part of the story, I only count what was shown in the final film. So far this year, The Dark Knight Rises, Prometheus, The Avengers, Amazing Spiderman and The Hobbit are my most aniticipated films of this year.

In terms of continuity or theories of a franchise, there's no such thing as "invalid". It really depends on the viewer. However, I will be very disappointed if this film does indeed ignore Aliens like you're implying it will. But who knows, this film isn't out yet, so there is a chance that they will explain the queen or maybe they won't. Until then, you can't really say that the queen wasn't the one who who layed those eggs yet.

I've only seen Alien and Aliens, I wanst to see Alien 3 but i just didn't, yet... for now, my favorite is Alien, obviously, although Aliens is also a great flick and in my opinion is Cameron's best film. not like it has much competition. but Alien is much better, Ridley Scott is one of my favorite directors, an Alien is his second best movie (his best is Blade Runner, please review)

Alien 3 is the best sequel of all time. That is, if you've seen the Alien Anthology version. It takes away the feeling of escape from Ripley, and it is relentlessly gloomy and dark. Not to mention all the religious symbolism spread throughout the film. Not as good as Alien, but better than Aliens which was also great. Best trilogy of all time. Yes, trilogy.
If Ridley is saying it's not a prequeal to alien then why the "Alien DNA & The Spacejockeys Spaceship from the 1st Alien." is in Prometheus? Plus Wasn't their a hole in the Spacejockeys chest & the Alien eggs on the same ship in Alien. "Spacejockeys!" I thought they made the Alien species though DNA? So no Aliens in Prometheus!? That's like is saying no Dinosaurs in Jurassic Park!!!! lol
It is a prequel! That "U" shaped ship is from the first film, it also is in the second film but in the beginning when the mom and dad find it and comes back with the alien parasite attach to the dads face. Plus in the trailer you will see that telescope-like machine that was in the first film with the space jokey fossil but it's there........
I hope this will resurrect the entire Alien franchise. I mean, the return of Ridley Scott!!! Hopefully, there will be some Alien parts in it. Favorite Alien movie, Aliens. Aliens also did that letter thingee at the beginning of it. Make a review for Aliens!!!!
If any of you have read a book called Chariot of the Gods by Erich von Danniken which is like ancient astronaut theory and that what Prometheus has to do with.
PS: In mythology Prometheus was the one who took fire from the gods and brought it to humankind. Relating to ancient astronauts you can figure out what it could mean.
the first Alien is the best, Aliens is good but i dont think its as good as the first film, 3 is one of the worst sequels ever made and resurrection is actually pretty cool and really makes up for the pathetic 3rd film but AVP and AVPR are both shit impo.
The first "Alien" is hands-down the BEST!!!!!!! "Aliens" was a great sequel but not as good as the first. "Alien 3" was ok but very disappointing. "Alien Resurrection" was just plain AWFUL!!!!!!!! I can't imagine anybody liking "Resurrection".

When I was little I just got finished watching Alien with my family and my seven year old mind was like oh that was a cool movie. I started to open the door to the computer room up stairs and my dad was there with my Ernie bath toy in his hand and he starts to put it up his shirt (like the alien baby) and then threw it at me. Then my brother's jump out of the closest and start making alien noises...I don't remember screaming...It's a tie between Alien and Aliens...Alien cubed was OK.
by the way i think Aliens was the best one and my fav probally . Alien was great but kinda slow at times . Alien 3 was ok i didnt think it was that bad . the visual was good , but the story may have been kinda garbage . ressurection was too silly

@YourColourTelevision Alien 3 was actually a very good movie. The problem is that it completely disrespects the Alien 2 ending: Ripley and Hicks escaped, went home, adopted the little girl and lived on as a family. Alien 3 should have been about some one else. Another Ripley sequel should be made only if there's a really good story with a really good reason to bring her back. I like Alien 3 as a stand alone movie, but hate it as a sequel, if that makes any sense :)

aliens was better. the story got escalated it made sense they SHOULD have ended that movie differently if they wanted to make alien 3. with that said, alien three should have been escalated more so - like they put out a radio signal and ask for assistance & give details of the events that took place, and crash land on the alien planet to have a full scale extermination
I thought it looked cool and I the first Alien movie was the best also, obviously its a prequel (Ridley Scott doesnt know what he is saying) cause it shows the ship from the first and the alien eggs and all that stuff, I think it is about what happened that caused the people in the first movie to get the distress cal from someone.

Aliens was the best! I mean the amount of detail James Cameron put into this movie back in the day is OUTSTANDING!!! It may look like its borrowing from a lot of things if you watch it now but remember this was all we had back then I mean my friends and I would get together and just recite lines from the movie mostly Hudson's :D! Aliens defiantly set the bar for all SciFi movies and is still the best movie that has anything to do with aliens haha!

My fave film? Between Alien and Aliens honestly, I can't pick. The reason is I like them both for different reasons. If this makes any sense: the first one had an amazing eerie atmospheric feel to it, it built up the scares in a chlostrophobic manner and was a real horror/sci-fi movie. The seocnd I like because I liked the slight tongue in cheekness, the fire power, it was more of an action horror which is just as great.
When you are 6 years old and you go down to the kitchen at night for water only to see your parents watching a movie. Then a xeno pops out a guy chest... Yeah the water went though pretty quickly. But of couse my fav is Aleins

I'm sorry, but the dog or ox / alien hybrid is actually more insulting to the mystique of the original monster in Alien than ANYTHING Cameron put on screen in Aliens.
The terrifying part of these creatures is that they are part human. "Kane's son" is what they called the original beast. And what they could've done in Alien 3 to redeem SOME of that turd is use an excentric prisoner for the host.

the first Alien is the best, Aliens is good but i dont think its as good as the first film, 3 is one of the worst sequels ever made and resurrection is actually pretty cool and really makes up for the pathetic 3rd film but AVP and AVPR are both shit impo.

The first "Alien" is hands-down the BEST!!!!!!! "Aliens" was a great sequel but not as good as the first. "Alien 3" was ok but very disappointing. "Alien Resurrection" was just plain AWFUL!!!!!!!! I can't imagine anybody liking "Resurrection".

When I was little I just got finished watching Alien with my family and my seven year old mind was like oh that was a cool movie. I started to open the door to the computer room up stairs and my dad was there with my Ernie bath toy in his hand and he starts to put it up his shirt (like the alien baby) and then threw it at me. Then my brother's jump out of the closest and start making alien noises...I don't remember screaming...It's a tie between Alien and Aliens...Alien cubed was OK.

@Makrozon You know, i dont know what was so bad about Alien 3. I mean, it ended the series nicely. It was just different. Just like Aliens was a depature from Alien.

@YourColourTelevision Alien 3 was actually a very good movie. The problem is that it completely disrespects the Alien 2 ending: Ripley and Hicks escaped, went home, adopted the little girl and lived on as a family. Alien 3 should have been about some one else. Another Ripley sequel should be made only if there's a really good story with a really good reason to bring her back. I like Alien 3 as a stand alone movie, but hate it as a sequel, if that makes any sense :)

i agree alien, the big problem with that franchise is alien one was a great horror movie, great effects, great production
aliens was better. the story got escalated it made sense they SHOULD have ended that movie differently if they wanted to make alien 3. with that said, alien three should have been escalated more so - like they put out a radio signal and ask for assistance & give details of the events that took place, and crash land on the alien planet to have a full scale extermination

Aliens was the best! I mean the amount of detail James Cameron put into this movie back in the day is OUTSTANDING!!! It may look like its borrowing from a lot of things if you watch it now but remember this was all we had back then I mean my friends and I would get together and just recite lines from the movie mostly Hudson's :D! Aliens defiantly set the bar for all SciFi movies and is still the best movie that has anything to do with aliens haha!

My fave film? Between Alien and Aliens honestly, I can't pick. The reason is I like them both for different reasons. If this makes any sense: the first one had an amazing eerie atmospheric feel to it, it built up the scares in a chlostrophobic manner and was a real horror/sci-fi movie. The seocnd I like because I liked the slight tongue in cheekness, the fire power, it was more of an action horror which is just as great.

I'm sorry, but the dog or ox / alien hybrid is actually more insulting to the mystique of the original monster in Alien than ANYTHING Cameron put on screen in Aliens.
The terrifying part of these creatures is that they are part human. "Kane's son" is what they called the original beast. And what they could've done in Alien 3 to redeem SOME of that turd is use an excentric prisoner for the host.
