it was so UNORGANIZED. There was no signs to tell people where the line began or which direction it should go. And here is a tip TYRA, next time make it a two day audition for NY. Day one for people with last names beginning A-M and Day 2 N-Z .. Or some other sort of classification. AND be more specific of what you want.. more requirements would make for a smaller line. There was girls on the line that obviously didn't stand a chance (over 150lbs) need not apply!!

Really, they're in their 12th season, they know how many girls try out for these things. They should have had

1) Paramedics on hand

2) Water and free snakc to keep the girls hydrated in case there was an emergency

3) Some kind of crowd control

4) a bigger venue with more audition stations to make the line go faster

These are not just auditioners, they are viewers, and human beings. In big groups like this you need to take safety precautions

Hi, I was there too. Thank you for your video, because I agree with you 100%!! This casting call couldn't have been anymore unorganized! Lucky for no one was seriously hurt, but it could have been a possiblity. They broadcast the audition on commerical and all over the news...What were they Expecting?? It so Unbelievable and it is ALSO an experience that I WILL NEVER FORGET!!

Thanks for the 1st-person-account, which you described very well. My niece related her experience in another city, orderly, but still ridiculous in the amount of time spent on the side walk in bad weather-- 6 hours or more. They were seen as a big group of 15 or more all at once, when she thought she would have been able to at least have a 30 second conversation with someone. It was poorly planned, and although it wasn't dangerous for her it was still a disappointment. I'm glad you were safe!

i feel your pain it happen to me and my friends as well it was hell and you are lucky you left cause you would have been going crazy. They are having casting again and to be honest i dont think alot people will show up but thanks for posting and if Tyra is reading you should have way better seucrity and you should talk to the people that hold the american idol casting because they have huge numbers of people and you never hear about somthing like this happening.

hi, hun. i was there, too, but i actually stayed til the end. i was about 20 feet away from the door when everything happened; when the car smoked and when the guy had the gun. sorry u had to endure that, but to blame tyra for everything is really unfair. this is the first time that this has ever happened, and tyra takes this seriously. this was the fault of the immature little girls that were there, along with the nypd for not doing their job. and don't ever give up on modeling :-) ur beautiful

Good video....I watch the show but had no idea that their auditions were so unprofessional. I have a 13 year old niece that wants to be a model and watches AMNT religiously. I WILL NOT allow her to go audition for this show unless they get their act together. NO WAY in hell.

I auditioned in Denver and over 1,000 girls showed up and they were totally unprepared. I waited 7 hours in line. Tyra and her staff should have known better there are far more girls under 5'7 then above. There is NO WAY the show is going to weed through 1,000 applications to pick only 10 girls from Denver. They will probably only review the first 100. What a shame and what a complete waist of time, I have been to cattle calls before but this was ridiculous

Hi, I auditioned in Denver, and the response there too was overwhelming. I waited in line 7 hours and there were over 1,000 girls. Tyra and her staff should have known the response would be overwhelming. There are far many more girls undre 5'7 then above. There is NO WAY the show is going to review 1,000 auditions out of Denver just to pick 10 girls. They probably will only view the first 100. What a waist of time!

the biggest problem perhaps was with the antm ppl.. becus normally in the other castings they have barracades early.. this time they didnt... until 9am.. wth is that. the hotel ppl didnt know what was goin on.. becus the entrances kept changing...

I was happy to find this video as my daughter had a very similar experience at the audition site. Shame on Tyra Banks, her production company, the line-cutters and the city. It's hard to defend the circus=like American idol auditions but at least they give the people who audition a safe environment. The girl who made this tape, who had her last shot ruined by a lack of planning and lack of concern is just one of many. To the rich Ms. Banks - the buck stops with you! Learn your lesson.

I'm so sorry that happened to you and the rest of the girls standing in line for the audition, doing any form of audition for any kind of TV show is beyond me, especially for this reason. I believe there needs to be much better security at such events, and the police definitely should have intervened much earlier to prevent this from happening. Same goes for the poor Wal-Mart employee trampled to death during Black Friday, where were the police?!

thanks for posting your experience. I saw the video of the riot on perez and I was shocked! By the way the mainstream media had reported the incident, it didn't sound that bad. Well, I guess it was! I couldn't believe that Tyra didn't make a comment to the press about it at all. Sad.

I blame the cops. People were camping out starting the night before, yet they didn't put barricades out until 2 the next afternoon? There's no excuse for that.

I was there with you... somewhere in the line... Had I not made friends with the girls near me I would have been down being trampled. It was my birthday, and I could have been injured... It was very scary, and I'm glad that you weren't in the craziness... it was completely out of control.
