je ne m'en lasse pas et l'apport de Paul bonifie le groupe, il ne copie en rien le regretté freddie mais il fait ce qu'il a à faire parfaitement! quel talent ce Paul
im glad that queen and paul rodgers gave the world a chance to hear the great music of queen and to all those bashers out there this is a tribute to freddie and the great work he did i think freddie would have proud
To all you "He's not Freddie", I'm not a fan of the association between Queen and Paul Rodgers, but I must admit that they gave the young generation the opportunity of seeing half Queen on stage and get the feeling of a live Queen concert.
We have to gave them credit for that.
That being said, I have more respect for John Deacon not selling his soul, and I will stick to all my TRUE Queen albums and cry myself at nights on Queen I, Queen II and Innuendo.
Paul Rodgers is the soul of rock n roll. Yes we love Freddie and Eric Carr whom died on the same day but hell, give Paul respect man he sang a Queen song and still remained "paul". I'm sure Freddie would have even been flattered. Paul Rodgers FTW
Deacon is awesome he wrote this song, but without Freddie singing it , this song wouldn't have so success like it had and has, so long live to Freddie songs, and to Freddie memory!
@mrozik2000 a little bit yes :D one of the best rock singers ever :) and my opinion is ... Magdi for me is trying to sing with hard voice but she screams so much ... not good voice for ears ..
OF COURSE he's no Freddie. He's NOT trying to BE Freddie. Nobody can replace Freddie. But guess what, idiots: FREDDIE IS DEAD and he's not coming back.
So you'd prefer that that these great musicians STOP playing? Or would you prefer that they find a "Freddie imitator" whom you can then berate?
Paul lends his own rich voice to already great music.
Get your albums and LISTEN TO FREDDIE, if that's what you need, fuckers.
@cosmotcat That's wright man!!!!Enoug of busting ball's with Freddy!O.k,he was QUEEN,and a great performer, but don't forget, that Paul Rodgers was already recognized star with FREE,when the Queen were at the begining....He did WOODSTOCK,for fuck sake!!!!!!As you said:Paul lehds his own dimension of interpretation of already great music!!!Amen
@cosmotcat it is very sad to see Paul and Queen, not together any more, very sad !!!! best band very put together .. i have been to many Queen shows and when Paul joined them they have become a very special band , Freddy yes was a good singer but will never be a Paul Rodgers, sure there are the gay followers Queen has !! i Seen this band in Ukraine And two other places and with Paul and his song with Queens Songs,God Dam !!! there is no band that even comes close to put the show on like them !
Paul Rodgers is a great vocalist, and i like the fact that he's not trying to mimic Freddie. He has his own style, and it's very good. Of course we must face the facts, nobody will ever come even close to Freddie.
I just don't get it. Brian May and Roger Taylor were both a part of my childhood with their music, but how better if they retired in 1991. Or keep on with their projects - just don't call it "Queen". Queen are: Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor, John Deacon. And pretty much each of them was an unchangeable part of it. Deacon included.
I'm sorry but you CANNOT replace Freddie ,,,What are you doing Brian? I have just seen the unseen archive that Peter ratty Hince has bought to us here in Australia and I was stoked to see outfits and pics of you guys was amazing!! but seeing this video has made me feel just a little ill.
While i 100% agree with you no1 can take freddies place, thats the beautie of paul rogers hes not trying to sing like freddie mercury! he does the songs his own way, its a crime for outstanding musicians like brian may and roger taylor to never perform again just because freddies gone
Paul Rogers has a great vocal and is a very good performer.. enjoy the best you can get from queen now - without Freddy.. of course no one can perform songs from queen better than Freddy, but have to admit, that Paul is great too..
I remember a show where Brian introduced Paul as "our hero and our friend." So, he seems to have the band's seal of approval. They've said as much.
Considering Freddie loved the music and the meaning of it all and, as a gay man, probably endured a lot of hate I'm guessing he'd be the first one to say "Welcome Paul - the show must go on."
well , first of all , i have to say i was in hamburg back in 2005 ! paul will never replace freddie ! but for those ones who hadn`t ever had a chance to see queen lined up with freddie , it`s/was a nice chance even to go to a concert with 2 less members! sorry fpr that bad english ! i`m german !
so you say that queen has to stop making music? Freddy is dead so they must stop making music? I didn't like Paul first but now I just love his voice! I love Freddy to but times are changing...
Paul Rodgers is very underated to me the man is a legend he deserves much more recognition , he wrote some great songs from his earlier bands , Free, Bad Company , The Firm , and solo projects . A+ all the way
My previous comments were more of a pro Freddie Mercury rather than anti Paul Rodgers. Mind you, it was rather harsh. I guess nobody can compare to the great Freddie!!
Of course it's hard to step into Freddies shoes, but keep in mind it is a brave thing for Paul Rdgers to give it a whirl. It's really about the demand from the fans for Queens music to continue. Paul did a great job. Quit being so critical.
Everyone is so hung up on - "It's not Freddie", but no one on that stage is trying to replace him. The Queen guys, sorry to be blunt, have not died! Why should they not continue to play their music? So they get one of their mates - with a great back catalogue himself so they can all tour again and do what they all enjoy - and the fans as well. Anyway - to be fair - Freddie was a one off. But PR was not meant as a replacement. "Queen and Paul Rogers". The gigs do both catalogues.
I love Paul Rodgers and am so glad he was Freddie's favourite singer, so who better to help keep Queen going for Brian and Roger to still entertain us Queen fans!!!!!
Who cares what you fucking people say about Paul Rodgers, i think he is good, and he is not trying to be beter then Freddie, he is just different, and people goes to Queen concert so they think Queen and Paul Rodgers are good.
These songs deserve to be heard live, who would you people rather have out front? Stars in their eyes winner Gary Mullen? now that would be offensive. And Brian May looks like hes living a boyhood dream when hes playing those Free/ bad Company songs as hes an old rocker at heart too.
Freddie Mercury was a great showman/ songwriter/ studio vocalist but Live he was pretty poor, didnt do any of the high bits and basically bluffed and shouted his way through the gigs. Paul Rogers is a star in his own right, thats why its billed as Queen & Paul Rogers. Rogers is a rocker and even at his advancing years can still belt out a tune better than Freddie could in his prime. Im a huge Freddie fan but singing live, Rogers blows him away. No offence.
@nwood23 Freddie Mercury is considered one of the GREATEST live showmen in music history. Sure by his fans, but also by his peers. Rodgers IS a great singer, but Freddie was better. Watch Queen: Rock Montreal.
Couldn´t agree more with you, his overall performance on a live gig was legendary, but his vocal performance live was indeed pretty poor compared to what he did in the studio
paul rodgers was a top singer before freddie mercury even started, and is a star in his own right, many a singer has tried to emulate paul rodgers, paul rodgers does not try to emulate freddie mercury, he,s his own person
Someone more qualified!? Free and Bad Company are HUGE names in rock and roll! Paul Rodgers is dope! Just cuz the new singer isn't a 19 year old mockery, doesn't mean people have to be demaning. And I bet Brain just wanted to play again. Can't do boring movie scores forever!
he has a great voice.. Brian absolutely pumps it.. why couldnt they get somebody that is alot like freddie mercury?.. it would upset people i think.. but this guy upsets alot of people too.. especially his own little ending to a great song.. kinda ruined it :/ But still good
All in all this is a great performance by Queen and PRogers. I had to hear a couple times to fully appreciate it. I heard an acceptional performance emerge. So thumbs for this performance. Brian is still firing them lightning bolts!
Okay lets be understanding here Freddie would want the show to go on! Trust us on that.......I do see a problem with PR. Sorry it strange but its true..... Why didnt they just get a few great singers? Launch a new comer or get someone with a name but more qualified. I do hear some resemblence at instances where Freddie breaks through. Thats not to say there isnt another singer who could clearly channel the Fredmiester as well.....niss the hell out of you Freddie! Long live QUEEN!
play fair with Freddie? no way in hell... I think it was disrespectful to try to replace someone as incredible as Freddie Mercury... He made these artists into what they are now, and shaped them to be better. NOTHING will ever be even close to par with Freddie... what an icon, and an unforgetable man. Rest In Peace, always.
So far no. There is a rumor they will tour in the US with Adam Lambert runner up from American Idol... however, there is no concrete plans and all either side has said is that they would love to do it. IMO, his contract with FOX (and FOX's share of his profits) may be a sticking point.
Paul Rodgers is touring with Bad Company and hasn't ruled out returning to Queen "in the future".
Um I think Queen should go with someone like adam lambert who might not be able to closer resemble the energy Freddie brought to Queen. Just a thought but, wouldnt it be great if someone came and at least tried to sing the songs in a Mercurian saviour? I mean not imitate but emulate and respect in a way by using and perfecting his stylings? After all his melodies are what are his legacy. Why not perform them to the note? If not at lvery least in Freddies manner? There I said it! Please comment.
ok, let's just put vocals aside for a second here (hard to do, but just do), but there's not one single person that could cop Freddie's unbelievable stage presence and incredible persona, Rodgers does a fine job at doing the whole superstar cover band thing, but his charisma is pretty much unexistant
This is the way rock should be .. musicians clearly having a wonderful time on stage, with each other, and the audience. This is what a great show is all about ..
paul voice is grea8 man!!! luv freedie too..but because of u all have tosay i ll be freddie also cant sing paul band frees songs like paul did a great job here .... long live paul ...

Brian is still firing them lightning bolts!
mechanicalvalve 2 years ago

Rest In Peace, always.

anyone know if these guys are touring 2009 or 2010? I BADLY WANT TO SEE THEM :) queen <3
RIP freddie
robbin08 2 years ago
So far no. There is a rumor they will tour in the US with Adam Lambert runner up from American Idol... however, there is no concrete plans and all either side has said is that they would love to do it. IMO, his contract with FOX (and FOX's share of his profits) may be a sticking point.
Paul Rodgers is touring with Bad Company and hasn't ruled out returning to Queen "in the future".
nthingtoofear 2 years ago

RIP Freddy. Paul Rogers has a great voice, maybe they should write him his own hits instead of murdering Freddy all over again.
