So you used the whole last episode to build a system to disable passive mob spawning. And when you wanted to stop the passive mobs in this episode, you ignored that and just blocked the shaft. And we had to listen to the cows, sheep, and chickens make noise the whole episode :).

Notch the Crotch changed (for the worse, imho) the passive spawning system to be less frequent now, along with the fact they can spawn on any block, not just grass. They only have the highest chance of spawning when loading a chunk. They still can't spawn on ice though, however overall effectiveness will be lowered. So in other words, only 1.7 as you need the pistons.

Waterstream = W

Air = O

Sign = S

Glass= G

The cows will make it across while the sheeps will fall, atleast i think. Worked for me

Etho! In the mobovators going down to the EMP's you should only make the panel facing towards the base glass, the other ones snow/glowstone with a snow wall all around covering everything exept the glass, then it would look AWESOME!

And you should make the back wall you mentioned forward 3 blocks so its level with the front glass.

@Ethoslab, Etho, why not use pistons to push a monster spawner block into your hostile mob system, this could increase the number of spawns you get or could be used to control which mob it spawns?

@WTHXPI Unfortunately, that wouldn't work at all. You must be within 16 blocks of a mob spawner for it to spawn mobs, and Etho will be much further away.
