I do think women should be allowed to breastfeed in public with an appropriate covering. I understand breasts were made to feed babies, but having your boob hanging out in public could be considered public indecency. Also, 8 is a big extreme to still be breastfeeding. Breastfeeding is important for immunities and nutrients to be passed from the mother to the child within the first year or so of life. It's not meant to be a longtime source of nutrients, milk, etc.

To all those of you that say that as a child can have cow milk from 1year old, has any of you thought that we are all slightly allergic to cows milk? Have you thought that actually, cows milk is for baby cows? Why does cows milk make people mucasy when they're ill...? Because it's full of nutriants for cows. It's cows breast milk! @EmmaEmma888 I can attest to being allergic to cow's milk. It gave me a lot of congestion that doctors have had to get me off of milk. I no longer have cereal anymore. I don't know if I've ever been breastfed or not, but I do have bad allergies, asthma, diabetes, and I'm overweight. That said, I'm guessing I wasn't breastfed at all.

To all you that have claimed that breastfeeding a toddler is disgusting: get real! What's disgusting about it? Breastmilk is natural, and sterile and perfectly benificial to children AND ADULTS despite their age! Also - a 2 year old breastfeeding is comfort/nutrition, NOT sex. As for feeding in public; we are used to breasts and cleevage staring at us from the covers of magazines and from tv, but when it comes to feeding it is suddenly not ok?? Come on... This IS NOT normal. Breastfeeding should be stopped when the toddler can eat regular food. There is no nutritional health benefit after that since the child can take in his/her own food.

@sikvenum82 That is not true at all. There is a health benefit as long as the child wants to nurse. Think of it this way; toddlers drink cow's milk, right? Human milk is better for them, it has tailored nutrition. The WHO reccomends at least two years of breastfeeding, and longer if mom and child both want to.
