I still think the creature Marshall Bowman transformed into was a giant chupacabra, a legendary porcupine-like creature that was believed to be an alien.

Hey man.

The idea of being both Untraceable and encrypted is intended to keep the location of the bug unknown.

So that the transmission itself cannot be triangulated or even detected in the first place.

You do need both.

This is especially important in black ops and just special ops into enemy territory - where you want to keep comm between the operatives, but not alert the enemies to any suspicious presence (doesn't matter if they don't know what that presence is).
