You are right. If you listen closely at 0:49-0:50 I'ts a cut in the song. I didn't know exactely how It ends, so I just wanted the end to be close enough to the theme.
I loved Robert Blake as Barretta back in the 1970's. I think it used to come on Friday nights on channel 7. Sammy Davis Jr was awesome singing the theme song, That's why i remember this show because of the theme song.
Eventhough i was a child back in the 1970's these was some good show back then and its to bad they dont have shows like this anymore. Thanks for the memories.
great theme song. with tvland should do a marathon of this. surprised some studio hasn't done a remake into a big screen movie. oops dont want to given anyone ideas.
Why oh why can't the television shows of today have great opening credits with amazing, creative graphics and photography like shows of the 70's?!?! What happened to imagination and creativity?!?
Creativity in the television industry pretty much died in the early '80s when commercial time became more important than time for the show. Too much intro. time means less commercial time. Nowadays they even sneak in commercials and promos for future shows during the show itself.
Amen to that! Esp. the same promos for future shows (can we say TV Land promoting these tired reality shows within seconds of each other??) -- utterly sickening -- anyway, it will take an act of God to bring creativity back to TV!
Yeah but he got off like OJ and was sentenced innocent for some reason. So technically he didnt kill his money hungry wife but we know........yes we know. XD
Actually Baretta is based on former undercover cop David Toma, who really did wear disguises while going undercover to bust up drug rings in New Jersey in the 60s.
I loved this show when i was a kid, and watch it even now. on dvd. Hopefully they will release season 2 soon. Too bad how things went sour for him in his "golden years" really liked tony blake.
weird.. i have this theme on cd.. and the words are slightly diffrent... cause at the end (on my cd).. he says.. "where can i go , where the cold winds dont blow....well well well ... " then it ends
One bad piece of music dis. I was maybe 10 -11 when I saw this in the U.k. It was only on for a flash in the pan but something about the music hit me. am 48 now and although I couldn't remember the music I just typed in Baretta and backside! the music was and is still bad ass. I must look up who wrote it
robert blake should have taken his own advice "dont do the crime if you cant do the time". he was fined $30 million in a wrongful death civil trial. what is up with all these actors going to jail and what not? you would think with all the money they make they could at least be law-abiding...
Blake was arrested on April 18, 2002, and charged in connection with the murder of his wife. His longtime bodyguard, Earle Caldwell, was also arrested and charged with conspiracy in connection with the murder. The arrest came almost one year after the murder on May 4, 2001 in Studio City, California. The final break in the case, which gave the LAPD the confidence to arrest Blake, came when a retired stuntman, Ronald "Duffy" Hambleton, agreed to testify against Blake.
His wife, like Nicole Simpson was wrapped up in so much dirt til' if Blake did do it, the dirt did not support the evidence. The man was aquitted, why do some of you have a problem with a persons' innocense ?
You need to understand that "not guilty" is not the same thing as innocent. Not guilty means that in all likelihood you committed the crime but there simply is not enough evidence to convict you beyond a reasonable doubt
Oh, but I do understand my friend. I have praciced LAW for fourteen years. You are right, the likelyhood did not even support the evidence. Remember, Robert went back inside of the resturant to retrieve his own pistol, which he had left on the table. When he returned, his wife was dead. Again, her lifestyle was in question as well as Nicole .
So what if he killed her! She was beggin for it & deserved it. She went to parties seeking out millionaires or movie stars only-then she'd do them right there. She tried to take everything from him-Ha! she got what she deserved.
What the hell? Robert Blaake was a truly gifted actor as his performance in Baretta clearly shows...but he was/is truly unstable...as the murder of his ex evidently proves...oh, I mean "alleged" murder for the word police out there...
I loved this show and the subject matter for the time was pretty advanced. Did pimps every really look like that, however? And Fred...loved that bird.
pimps DEFINITELY dressed like that. (see Huggy Bear from S&H also). Baretta was loosely based off of the movie Serpico, as far as him dressing in different undercover outfits.
wow i didn't know it was available on dvd. I'm going to order them. These shows were as good as movies are now. Starsky & Hutch, Streets of San Fran, Kojak, even Wonder Woman. Just quality sh*t! ....and the theme songs are freakin' classic Funk!
I remember, here in San Antonio, on the talk radio station, they would play the Baretta theme song when they would do the segment " the Robert Blake Update" when Mr. Blake was on trial for the murder of his wife Bonnie. I used to laugh when they would play this theme song as they talked about "what happened" the day before in court. Its funny, Baretta on the other side of the law.
Hell Yes!!! I wasn't allowed to stay up late to watch this show back in the day, but maaaan after all these years this is intro is still so damwn slick!!

The very end It's correct - I think. The wrong part is probably from 0:50-0:55, if you compare to the original theme.

never heard of this. dont think it was on in england. that robert blake look like he could go on to bigger things though wonder what happened to him.

0:55 is GTO abuse. Why isn't this illegal? Justic demands the perpetrators be brought forward to face "The Judge". Only then will the abuse stop.
