Marijuana does not contain carcinogens. Combustion produces carcinogens. Marijuana is not addictive, as every person that uses it for a while and then goes without for extended periods of time knows. Marijuana does not contain cancer-causing agents or toxins, but a long list of addictive and toxic substances are found in tobacco products, esp. cigarettes. Marijuana has never killed anybody. Pharmaceuticals, tobacco products, and booze kill hundreds of thousands of people each year.

@TrevaLynVF Marijuana contains tar, which is a carcinogin. Marijuana, according to you, is not addictive...have you ever tried to give it up? Pharmaceuticals, tobacco and booze kill hundreds, like you say...and these are tested government sanctioned products routinely examined for purity (except tobacco). Compare that with the number killed by drugs and recreational substances, none of which receive safety verification and may be laced by the dealer with hazardous substances.

@diddymuck just sh :) cannabis is not as bad as alcohol, and without putting it in a joint with tobacco, it can actually be good for you.. reduce some cancers.. its used in allot of medicines too, i think that cannabis should become legal, and people who want to smoke it, should smoke it.. but ones that don't.. dont have to! i think its up to the individuals what people do to their bodys' not the law.

@diddymuck Have I "tried" to give up marijuana? I used marijuana to counter detox shock and other symptoms while I kicked my addiction to pharmaceutical drugs containing amphetamine and opiates (What I called "speed", "pain killers" and "sedatives") to which I was addicted when I was 12 to 15 years of age. A few years later I decided to stop smoking pot with no detox side effects, unlike ALL OTHER substances, including cigarettes and coffee. Illegal pot can be laced, unless you grow your own.

@diddymuck I have known a lot of people that smoked pot, some regularly. None died from it. None overdosed on it, which is scientifically proven to be impossible. I have known people that died as a result of harm caused by alcohol, tobacco, and OTC and prescribed drugs. Tommy Chong has been smoking it for decades. He's over 70, still alive and kicking. Want the link to a report about a 120 yr. old woman that smokes pot rolled like Chong's super-toker joints?

and you shoot yourself in the foot by using an arguement stating the dealers use grass as a stepping stone to get onto harder drugs, because if it was legal purchasing cannabis wouldn't require a trip to a dodgy dealer!! therefore destroying the only valid point of the 'gateway' arguement. Also when you enjoy a glass of wine you do feel satisfaction because of warming qualities and even though you may not be inebriated that nice feeling is still an effect of alcohol

Alcohol causes severe dependence, in fact though alcohol and benzodizapines are harder to become addicted to then coke's known to be, they both are the hardest addictions to quit. Though cannabis may have more toxins, the amount of tobacco smoked by a cigarette addict would even out. Also there are amny ways to aquire a 'buzz' without inhaling the smoke for instance cannabis cooking, vapourizers etc

cannibis is usually smoked. Cancer causing agents are nearly 200 times more than in tobacco! Alcohol is dangerous but does not cause cancer. Cannibis is a VERY addictive substance, moreso than alcohol...you can have a beer 'cause you're thirsty or glass of wine to compliment a meal but you toke grass only because you want to become intoxicated, period. Marijuana intoxication accidents are a daily occurance, some quite horrifying! Familiar with Exxon Valdez? The '86 DC Amtrak accident?

Alcohol does cause cancer, actually. Cannabis forms no physical dependence, I'll grant you that it can be habit forming.

Alcohol is a deadly poison. The amount of accidents caused by alcohol out-number the accidents caused by cannabis many times over.

People shouldn't smoke cannabis at their place of work, just like people shouldn't drink alcohol at their work. Am I familiar with Exxon Valdez? Are you familiar with the hundreds of alcohol-related road deaths each year? How many for pot?

Marijuana smoke contains roughtly 3x the carcinogens as tobacco smoke. But the average marijuana smoker inhales 10x less smoke over time than the average tobacco smoker. Alcohol is a known carcinogen my friend. Where do you learn your information?

Cannabis doesn't contain carcinogens, unless it is smoked. The plant on its own doesn't contain any cancer-causing agents. (Unlike alcohol). Cannabis's addictiveness pales when compared to alcohol's. Twice the accidents? How? Twice the alcohol-related problems? That doesn't make sense.

I've smoked "cannabis" for 6 years now, i can still stop for months at a time with no withdraw symptoms. This is how i prove to myself i'm simply mentally addicted, just as i am to oreos... Oh, yeah and i can still run a 5:30 mile
