SPOILERS the chipettes dream of stardom so they could meet famous people (particularly the chipmunks). Ian decides to use them to get even with the chipmunks. He yes to them saying they left him and his heartbroken. In order to keep their stardom he convinces them the chipmunks can be trusted. Despite the mutual romantic attractions (its love at first sight) between the chipmunks and their chipette counterpart. They do what Ian tells them to keep their stardom. So it becomes a rivalry as well.
