Having attended an Awards banquet earlier this month, I witnessed the Lightsphere in action for the first time. What particularly impressed me was how well the various skin tones were captured, since many of those attending were men and women of color. Based on your recommendation, I hope to pick up both the cloud and clear units in the next few days. Thanks for a very helpful video!
I attended an Awards banquet this past month, where the hired photographer was using the Lightsphere. In particular, I noticed how well the various skin tones were captured since many of those who attended the function were men and women of color. I have had several occasions where bouncing a flash got by, but in general their skin tones absorbed too much of the light. From what I can see from your video, both the clear and cloud should be purchased, since they each have their own application.
I've just received my Universal Cloud and chrome dome, so haven't had much time to 'play' but I'm hoping they will be versatile enough for both scenarios!
I have Lightsphere Universal Cloud and I need more light for distant shooting. In your opinion, which one is better? purchase chrome dome for LS Cloud, or purchase Lightsphere Universal Clear?
Both have about the same price so I need a professional photographer's view.
How well does the clear one work for portraits. Ideally I need one that will cover both situations, but until I can afford to get one of each, which would be the most versatile?
If you want one that you can use for both portraits and more distant work, I would not get a Lightphere-2. Instead, I would get the Lightsphere-Universal-Clear, which falls between the LS2 Cleat and Cloud in translucency. Then, when you can affor it, I'd add the chromedome. Remember, get the LS-Universal -- not the LS2.
lol did you record this on your cellphone?
