  • I have a really important question! I have an LG Rumor 2 and it's virgin mobile, and i am getting the LG optimus V, but i was wondering if i can keep the same number

  • @DutyBubble yep, you can keep your number

  • Hey quick question. I'm thinking about getting this phone and I also wanted to buy skin for it. I go to skinit.com for my skins and i dont see this phone there. could i buy custom skin for the optimus S and have it fit perfectly for this phone?

  • @powpowouchy5 I don't know about skins, but I bought a hard case made for an Optimus S and it fit the Optimus V perfectly

  • @geeklooptv cool. they must have the same basic shape.

  • @JennaHaze2000 tell them how and u provide the technology to incorporate it and keep the phone at the same price it currently is. damn man u dont know nothing.

  • @camargo2012 you right! Your not getting ripped off.

  • @JennaHaze2000 if you want a phone with a nicer camera, go ahead and get a different phone (and pay more). Nobody's stopping you.

  • @JennaHaze2000 along with your "awesome" $40 5mp phone, get a frickin dictionary.

  • @JennaHaze2000 Says the person who can't spell stupid correctly.

  • @JennaHaze2000 How old are you, 10?

  • @yingdiskette You ugly Cunt

  • @JennaHaze2000 Yes the phone is what is "stupied". And you're exactly right. The phone is now $100 so if there was a $40 dollar 5mp camera then you're asking for a $60 smartphone.

  • @Italiankid1029 Bend over and I'll show you.

  • @JennaHaze2000 That doesnt even make sense

  • I cant really see the background moving cause your FINGER is in the way

  • Can you also send texts using the dial pad??

  • i want this phone so bad !!!!! :')

  • @oOKeyalaShawOo Me too. i'm just worried about the phone plan.

  • @myfatcat3 The payment plan now/cheapest is 35 dollars a month for unlimited texting and data, and 300 mins for calling

  • @oOKeyalaShawOo Me too. i'm just worried about the the payment plan.

  • Question: Do I have to buy the phone card at the same time that I buy the actual Phone, or can I do it seperatly?

  • @XXTeamCORE you can do it separately. The phone should work with WiFi even if it hasn't been activated with Virgin Mobile. You just won't be able to text, make calls, or use 3G.

  • @geeklooptv Oh thank you for saying that! I've scoured the internet trying to find out if I needed to activate it. I just ordered mine from Amazon and was going to wait to activate it about halfway into the next month when I need it. However I just wanted to use WiFi on it and put apps on it during the time being.

  • Thanks for telling me about the TV.com app! :)

  • do u have to press the screen like the cheap touch screen phones or is it like the ipod touch n iphone screen

  • @sahoboyable it's a capacative touch screen, not resistive touch. That means the amount of pressure you apply to the screen doesn't make any difference. It worked quite well for me.

  • Thanks man I learned a lot about this phone

  • Can you video chat via skype using this phone?

  • @Aleiscool310 No. You need a phone that has a front facing camera, such as the Motorola Triumph. You can use skype to expand your phone minutes on a V to unlimited if you need to (for a monthly fee), though that will run only through 3g or Wifi.

  • how do i get flash player in this phone?

  • @itsmeadin this phone's specs are not good enough to run flash player.

  • @geeklooptv seriously? I thought Android could handle flash. I know apple can't. WOW?!?! There were a lot of people laughing bashing at the iPhone about this. I really didn't know this.

  • @jackies35 Android is an operating system. Android supports flash. But the hardware that runs the operating system has to meet certain requirements in order for Android to run flash. The Optimus V hardware does not meet these requirements.

  • @geeklooptv oh, thank you for explaining this! I understand now. So, do the newer phones like Droid incredibile, could held flash websites?

  • @jackies35 per Adobe's website, here are the current requirements to run Flash 10.3 in Android:

*ARMv7 processor with vector FPU, minimum 550MHz, OpenGL ES 2.0, H.264 and AAC HW decoders

    *Android™ 2.2, 2.3, 3.0, 3.1, and 3.2

    *256MB of RAM

    *Android web browser

  • @geeklooptv thank you... sorry.

  • @geeklooptv Thanks. My bad!

  • **yawns* what action?

  • where did you get your screen protector?

  • @ohhyanno13 RadioShack

  • @geeklooptv were the screen protectors expensive?

  • @geeklooptv No way!! do you really use skype on this phone???

  • Does anyone know how skpe is on this, can you make the face to face calls?

  • @tymcdowell68 well theres no face camera so..... the camera is on the back

  • Bro. Dallyn! Ha! I got one of these phones recently and I love it. Guessed you were LDS when I heard your name. Seeing the familiar Church apps on your phone confirms. Nice video, BTW. Thanks! :)

  • Hello: while on a call, does this phone's keypad automatically go into lock mode after 5-10 seconds......and then you have to unlock it to press any more buttons?

  • can u get the app angry birds or photo editors?

  • @vampirediarieschick this phone runs on android so yes you can get angry birds to top it off its free!!!! go to the android market online then search the apps you want

  • @vampirediarieschick yup and yup

  • I saw ya got LDS tools

  • what phone would you reccomend, samsung intercept or the optimus v?

  • @codgod6928 the Optimus V is newer and faster. But if you absolutely must have a physical keyboard, go for the intercept.

  • @codgod6928 intercept was a was of $200! it can't do anything without freezing. optimus works about 98% of the time

  • @codgod6928 optimis v its better android platform and it has better graphics

  • I love that you don't change topics. like when you mentioned quicksettings in the beginning, you didn't show the app but stayed on topic. I really like that!

  • @Phloxx1 thanks!

  • My new phone rocks...but... is it normal for it to get so hot? I was downloading my apps from the market... :/

  • @thundered777 it does get a bit warm depending on what you're doing

  • @geeklooptv Yes, It was at a temp of 100 degrees farenheit, so I exchanged it. Battery and phone are new now so I hope it works.. I really like the phone... Thanks for your responses... :)

  • You helped me make my final decision of going with the Optimus V after about 5 months of researching phones and providers. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

  • @thundered777 I'm glad you found it useful!

  • im pretty sure netflix works

  • Virgin Mobile is not capping data, that would imply that you have to pay more when you go over. What they are doing is throttling anyone who uses more than 2.5 GB of data. The download speeds will drop significantly until the next billing cycle starts.

  • @dadsbrkn we can argue about semantics but from my perspective "capping" implies that there is a limit imposed on your data usage. The consequences when you hit that limit vary depending on the carrier.

  • @geeklooptv First of all I'm not arguing, just trying to clarify as others in the comments seemed a bit confused. Don't get me wrong, I think VM is the best deal out there in smart phones right now, and will probably switch when my feature phone contract is up with Verizon. In fact I may pay an early termination fee to Verizon and switch to VM as I can still save a lot of money on one of their plans.

  • @dadsbrkn no worries :) - I'm glad you commented, as it helps to clarify exactly what VM is doing.

  • @geeklooptv I really like your video, its very thorough.

  • @dadsbrkn thanks! I appreciate the feedback.

  • How much does this phone cost?

  • @iJoshiee see Virgin Mobile's website for details.

  • @iJoshiee $149.99.

  • a wifi hot spot?! so i can connect my ipad & ipod touch to this phone in my car with no extra charges?! thats awesome! And how many devices can connect to the wifi hot spot AND is it a locked wifi?! thanks! Do u still recommend this phone? i am really considering this phone OVER the iphone 5. because i cant stand the thought of just having 2GB of data usage per month. what a rip off! i want unlimited and thats the way it should be. please reply. thanks

  • @appletylercj I haven't tried connecting multiple devices, but I don't see why you couldn't. It's easy to configure it and set up a password using the free "Quick Settings" app.

Keep in mind, though, that starting in October, Virgin Mobile will start throttling your bandwidth after you hit 2.5GB of data usage each month. All the cell phone providers are going to be capping data now. I know, it's lame.

I do still recommend this phone. I think you get amazing service and features for the price.

  • @geeklooptv What?! Capping my data usage at 2.5GB?!?! Then that means their plans are gonna totally change. Their plans show unlimited plans. That sucks so much!! Will they have a grandfather set up if u are a customer b4 October? This unlimited feature was the biggest reason why I was about to choose either virgin or boost mobile. They are taking too much away from people. Now I'm leaning towards boost. >>>I want unlimited Internet on a mobile devise for under $50 a month!<<<

  • @appletylercj as of right now the plans are "unlimited", but they will all be capped starting in October, and as far as I am aware, the "unlimited" plans will NOT be grandfathered in.

I don't know much about Boost, but I'm sure they will follow the rest of the pack soon and start capping their data. That, unfortunately, is the way things are going.

  • @jazzguru1 ok thanks for your reply. after several utube videos, im still considering the new iphone. im so use to my ipod touch & ipad. but i am impressed with droid as well. just not sure if i can move away from certain IOS features.

  • @appletylercj sorry, didn't realize I posted that under my "jazzguru1" account, haha. My next smartphone will be an iPhone. I have an iPod Touch, and now that I've had some good experience with Android, I now know for sure that I like iOS better. Still, as far as smartphones go, I think the value of the Optimus V is undeniable. You get a lot for your money.

  • @geeklooptv yup i agree. i cannot walk away from IOS! dont get me wrong, it was not won by a land slide. there are virizon androids out there that really got my attention. but like any close call nascar photo finish, there can only be 1 winner. And that has to be the IOS mobile device called: iPhone!!!

  • @geeklooptv since 2008 i have owned my first Apple products, which was the first generation 32GB ipod touch, which just blew me away!! then i went to the 4th generation ipod touch, and then the 1st generation ipad. so my answer is no, i cannot walk away from the IOS platform!! the iphone, itouch, and ipad is just incredible!!! i have to go for the iphone 5!! it is a must!!!!!

  • The screen is glass, actually.

    Good overview, though.

  • @Atheismrulez yes, it is glass. When I first bought the phone there was some confusion as to whether it was glass or not in some of the reviews I read about it. Thanks for the feedback.

  • @geeklooptv is there threaded text messaging on this phone?

  • @nennypsycho if you mean texts are grouped by conversation, then yes!

  • @geeklooptv awesome thanks! That was a feature I got so used to in my old phone, i'd hate to go without it haha

  • Flash Player Has Anyone Got It To Work?

  • Fox ten thats AZ

  • @rolandesch... Wtf no0 s0rry

  • @geekloop Hey, i got a LG Optimus V. I went to the market place and downloaded GO Launcher EX. Its REALLY amazing, it allows you to make the bottom row of things have 5 functions and you can make it scroll left to right or whatever and have up to 15 apps/shortcuts on your bottom row. and it overall lets you rename apps on your desktop screens and it even allows you to have up to 36 desktop screens to fill with apps (which you can actually choose how many desktop screens you have. That's all.

  • @Elkhartboy i love this phone it just needs a flash player.

  • @geekloop oh ok tnx for everything

  • @geekloop so they don't Kare bout the wifi hotspot so I can use it anytime and they won't Kare (it's breaking the terms of service)

  • @daisymyers09 I don't think there's any way they can really know you're using it as a WiFi hotspot, unless you consistently go over your cap every month

  • @geekloop but it will still be unlimited data and web right

  • @daisymyers09 well, in the sense that they won't shut your data completely off when you hit 2.5GB, yes. But you may not be able to do much when they reduce your download speeds.

  • @geekloop what does that mean capping in October

  • @daisymyers09 if you download more than 2.5GB of data in your plan month, they will throttle the bandwidth (make your download speeds really slow) until the beginning of your next plan month

  • @geeklooptv

Does video streaming count as downloading to them?

  • @CTproductions100 yes, any data usage whatsoever goes towards the cap

  • Hey can u answer a question can Virginmobile terminate you account just for using the hotspot

  • @daisymyers09 no, I have never heard of anything like that happening. I don't think they care really how you use the data (as long as it's not for anything illegal). They'll start capping data usage in October, though.

  • Hey GeekLoop I have a question that I don't know if you can answer but: if I am a long-time VM customer with a current $25/month plan, would I keep my plan rate if I got a new phone or would I have to bump up to their new minimum?

  • @Rolandesch as I understand it, if you had the plan before they made the pricing change, your rate will not change and you can even change phones and keep the same rate. But if you change plans, that's when the new pricing kicks in.

  • @geeklooptv...awwwww daT suKx i waZ h0p!ng iT wuLd d0 dat w3ll iF u n0w b0ut an app daT d03s dat pLzz t3ll me...thaNkxx

  • I hav3 a ?..f0r every pag3 dat u change 2 culd u assign a different wallpaper 0r iZ da graph!c f0r aLl da pages

  • @Ily3110 no, you cannot assign different wallpapers for each home screen. There may be an app out there that lets you do it, though.

  • @Ily3110 Christ, could you comment in any more of an annoying fashion?

  • @Beccazeman the only thing "extra" you pay each month is the taxes the government forcibly extracts from you :)

  • @geeklooptv is this phone prepaid or plan? it says prepaid on amazon which i assumed was just like normal prepaids but the one on the website says 35$ a month?

  • @RcUniverseGuy it is a monthly pre-paid plan - you can set it up on auto pay or pay manually. And you can stop it at any time without penalty because there are no contracts. $35/month is their cheapest plan. It gets you 300 minutes plus data and texting.

  • @geeklooptv oh thats not really prepaid its just a plan with no contract.... i'll go with the optimus T i think

  • how does the skype work does it work nicely

  • @hotsauce543 it works well, yes

  • They don't do data caps when you're on wi-fi right?

I'm getting this phone tomorrow so exited !

  • @Ambereigh haha no, WiFi completely independent from 3G :) It's a good phone! I'm sure you'll like it.

  • ios 5 that is coming out in september has the notification center like the android.

  • @TheZaadams long overdue, IMO

  • how well do games like Angry Birds work?

  • @UnitedWeStand4EVR Angry Birds works best for me when I turn the data completely off - that way the phone isn't using resources trying to load ads. Still, there are some levels that are pretty choppy. But Angry Birds lag isn't unique to the Optimus V, from what I've read.

  • I like all your LDS apps! Represent!

  • Hey show me your Wells Fargo!!!! HAHA JK.

  • thanks for the views on this phone i think i will get one now but i have 1 ? for ya i have a net 10 pre paid phone can i keep my # when i switch

  • @hipoint45 yep. In fact, I ported my number from Net10 when I got this phone!

  • @geeklooptv cool thanks for the quick reply.

  • .....organize enuff guy ... thanks

  • can you show us how messaging like tetxs work

  • @themarshesmallow if you have a strong enough 3G connection, yes.

  • can you watch youtube videos on this phone with out having to connect to a wifi

  • @ccjd2009 yes

  • Motorola Triumph FTW!

  • Oh no please don't take my comment that way. I love the review. There were just things in it that were more about android features rather than specific things about the phone

  • this is more of a review of android 2.2 as opposed to a review on the phone itself and how it works with android. I think you should have waited till you knew more about android before you tried to make a review

  • @TheAndroidAdventure sorry you didn't find it useful. Many others have. :)

  • ugly ass little fone but it is virgin mobiles best so far

  • @LuqmanK not ugly, adorable

  • can u get the same apps that r available on an ipod touch and iphone? does it vibrate when you get a text message, or does a message pop up when you get a text message like the iphone and ipod touch?

  • hows single for virgin mobile

  • Does anyone have a problem with going over the data cap if you download many apps watch YouTube etc?
