Great playing Brandon! Super stoked for you brother, on your way. Hope you love the holy china and the Portnoy mini china stacker deal. Great Evolution crash by the way. Thanks for posting this.

Hey dude great job, I like all the negative comments on here because those are obviously people that just hate you because your better than them but you seem like a pretty modest guy but hey great job hit me up lets tour or some shit together
Fuck, man. It's performances like this that remind me why I'm focusing on composing more than performing... The competition for good performers is ridiculous because of people like you! Keep up the good work, I bet you'll go a long way at the Musician's Institute.
@CalculatingInfinity6 yeah, they think they have the entitlement of being a YouTube drummer critic, in reality, they are just like this guy, just playing drums or probably doing fuck all.
fuck all these wanna be's. Say what ever you want. I don't know why they are calling you a douche, but this is your video, yeah sure people can say a few pointers, doesn't mean you have to bow to them and give them the ego boost. Fuck it! Do what you gotta do, keep playing this cover rocked ass!
Good cover. But dude in order to progress with your instrument its important to accept and apply constructive criticism. (besides obviously rude comments) Keep it up!
All I have to say is: Great Job!!! I can't believe the audacity of some people. They start picking on you and come to crazy conclusions about you when all they've seen is a freakin' youtube video. You people assume too much about someone you haven't met. Like I said, Great Job!
guys, we all know his fills arent exactly the same as blake richardson did them, BUT WHO CARES? when playing drums, you are supposed to have your own interpretation and style of how a song is played. for example, cobus, the famous youtube drummer, plays songs to his style and interpretation... thanks man for the upload and the courage despite of all the haters who critique for style and interpretation. amen.
excellent job man. you've got a great sense of time and this was a hard-ass song to cover. if i can offer one piece of advice, it would be to flip out your left a hand a little bit (away from your body). you're using a lot of forearm and while that's good for volume, that can hold you back a lot on speed. speeds like this almost demand more wrist and finger usage. you've got talent and i have no doubt you're gonna go places. i'm looking forward to more vids. keep it up, man.
@stylerprofyler@NiKKiBangBang ok let's think B.Rich has been playing since he was like 11 right? What is now in his later 20's? This kid looks like he is just out of high school ; you have to guess when B.Rich played in his metalcore band @ age 17 he must have been the same way. Give him some props; he's pretty damn good for his age. Hell to be even playing BTBAM is an accomplishment in itself.
@Cixelated Thanks for your support of Brandon. Actually, when this video was shot, he was just 16 and a Junior in high school. He's just turned 17 and is a Senior now. He'll be attending the Musician's Institute in Hollywood next year.
dude, very nice cover!! don't mind the trolls, they're everywhere haha you did great on this one... just that last blast beat wasn't really that good, but the rest of the song was awesome! :D
@LorenScott69 From one drummer to another, this song is very hard. If my advice came off that way I apologize, but my intentions are good. I just wanted to let him know that if he worked on it a while longer and got it down, packed tightly, it would get a lot more recognition. So all I'm saying is that it's good, but it just has a lot of easy mistakes that can be fixed by looking at the colors live dvd and watching certain parts.
@NiKKiBangBang Brandon knows that it's not 100% perfect. He is only 16, and he is not Blake Richardson. Blake himself has watched this video (and others from Brandon) and given him very motivational feedback (on Blake's FB page). There are 1000's of musical kids out there that are trying to get better, and the quickest way to make them lose interest is to say something like, "Even though you practice your ass off, you still suck. Try harder!" How about, "Pretty good. Keep it up!" Huh?
@LorenScott69 i never said he sucked though man. The kid has balls to do this song, and its an amazing attempt. I give him a lot of credit, and I'm turning 17 in September so I know how he feels. It's hard for young musicians to get recognition these days. When I entered the drum off that's how I started getting promoted as a drummer, but still there's always one thing that every drummer should know though. If you play a song and you think its perfect, play it again and it'll be 10x better.
@haloinahaystack I think it sounds perfect. But, everyone has different tastes. For example, although I like Metallica's music, I have always thought that Lars' kick drums sounded awful -- too much pop and not enough boom. I thought about writing them to tell them that it sounded horrible and that I couldn't stand it, because it just sounds so damn sloppy. But, I didn't because I didn't want to sound like a total dick.
@haloinahaystack Nope. Just two well EQ'd AKG D 112 mics. You can hear the drums themselves without any other music by searching for "Brandon Scott Drums Sound Check" (take 1 or 2).
this kicks ass dude! are those pro mark mike portnoy signature sticks you're using? cause i play with those too! this is not easy shit, i've tried to learn it and it's difficult. so i give you a big round of applause for completing this. keep on rocking!
People have a point - there were a few tiny things off, I noticed specifically the bass drums in the "white walls" part (when you do a triplet on the 3rd and 4th time through), and the hilariously random sounding section around 9 minutes. That being said, you had easily 99% of it very, very good, and some of the places that sounded slightly off time could very well be a sync issue. I'm incredibly impressed, BTBAM is far from easy on any instrument.
I think these "errors" people so happily point out is just the timing of the music and your drums. not really a timing problem, but a syncing problem. just need the overlapping music turned down alittle so both drum audio don't conflict and it'd sound better, i think. anyway, i approve, better than i could do
Did you still use the same camera that you did the first one i watched you used a canon Eo5 5D Mark II camera, this pic looks much more clearer than the first camera is it still the same one or did you use a different one.
@doladar Yes, I used my Canon 5D MArk II to record this one too. I just got a bit better at lighting the room on this one than in the previous ones. On this one I used the same setup as for the Sound Check 1 and Sound Check 2 videos as well.
BRANDON!! Right on, brother!! You are going to have an awesome future ahead of you if you don't fall into the traps that kill so many promicing musician's dreams! Fucking epic man. If anybody that watches this video has connections with the band, hook this guy up with some backstage passes to their next concert or something. He deserves it.

@Neptune0100 haha thanks man, and i know that about my blast beats haha i just started doing them about 6 months ago or right around the time i learned Prequel to the Sequel so i'm still trying to get them tighter.
@kingvincedrums haha Thanks :) i wanna try and get out there and post videos constantly for my subscribers and stuff but a lot of songs i learn take months to learn haha
@Andro438 Haha i started learning selkies, i'm about Halfway through? it's just there's a middle section where i have no idea what the hell Blake is doing haha
@alittlemikeful Haha i've actually learned the beginning of swim to the moon but never thought about going 17 minutes haha but then again i never thought about going 14 minutes.. we'll see haha
ho man where do i start... flawless to say the least. your playing is so fluent, definantly one of the best covers of any song on youtube and best drum cover of whitewalls handsdown. What kind of kit is that, it's sexy [=
One thing, i think the volume on the low toms was a bit low compared to the high ones and everything else. minor thing. Keep it up holy shit =)
Brandon's dad here. I just realized that I must have had my headphones flipped around the wrong way when I recorded the audio for this. So,,, to actually hear it correctly (ride cymbal and low toms on the left and hi-hat and high toms to the right), just flip your headphones (or speakers) around (left on the right and vice-versa). Sorry about that. ;)
