It's not my opinion, it's right there on screen for the world to see. I'd have asked the BBC to re-shoot the scene or edit it out if I were him.

If he does have such a "good reputation" as you suggest, this performance certainly didn't contribute to it.

Dove's head is tucked under index finger, fake head is produced from sleeve on white elastic, which is grasped between index finger and middle finger of hand holding bird, stretched, and let go of. Fake head is chucked up sleeve of hand holding bird, bird's head is released. Head position is natural for bird when roosting, so not a problem.

The head that was pulled off was fake. It was stuck on the bird. Actually, birds have the ability to hide their heads under their wings. The real head of the bird was hidden under its wings. After the trick you could see his right hand still clutching something. It might be the fake head.
