@kristofertheman Not entirely true. The uk did make a lot of crappy cars, but also some which have years of history in motorsports. The ford gt40, the nissan r390, the mclaren f1. All of them the greatest sports cars in history.
In the US you have a very loyal group of people who would buy a gm or ford even if they do not stand a chance against german or japanese cars. Without them, the american car industry wouldn't have survived.
The C4 is a cheap, reliable, relativly economical car with a great handling. Some cars are faster, many cars have a better made interior, but you don't get a better sports car for that price!
Ferrari, Jaguar, Lotus etc. may have made faster cars, but they aren't realy reliable and even if you have luck, the maintenance costs are a few times higher than the corvette.

Im going to put this into words that even the stupidest of people understand. America doesnt under stand sports cars, Thats because we recognize Muscle cars. The Europeans put out small light cars that are fast because they stick to the ground and can run high rpm's. Racing back then was all power. If you started to slide you pushed through and gave her more power and rode it out. Sliding was normal and if your good enough to ride it out, its encouraged.
Aside from the fact that Jeremy just doesn't like Corvette's (there are too many corvette lovers anyway), he chose like the freakin 2nd worst corvette. If he had chosen to compare the new ZR1 against an 80s aston martin, there would be no point to prove. Don't always blame the designer yall. Sometimes designers are at the mercy of the company presidents vision, and that vision usually involves saving money and cutting corners. Truth is, most cars look beautiful in the conceptual and ideation stage, but it's always the president who has the final word, and they are not exactly artists, they are businessmen.

The C4 corvette was the worst one. The current Corvette generation is amazing on the track and actually turns quite well, and it's not riddled with electronics and computer systems that helps the driver like the GT-R.
I'm not saying the GT-R is bad, I'm just saying it takes a better driver to control the Corvette and put the most power down efficiently.
I've got an 84, and the ride is stiff because it was designed with a performance suspension, read the Road & Track review of the 84, where they found that it outhandled a Ferrari. Corvette owners are not jealous of Mustang and Camaro owners are they?
First off, Mini-Guns are .30 cal, not .50. I am a big fan of the C4, but the early ones were rubbish. The interiors were bad plastic and the engines, so-so. The ride was brutal.

You make a good point, however for me, the design aspects of american sports cars are in essence most about making everything bigger. Drop in a Bigger engine, bigger breaks, bigger suspension without the slightest consideration for the intricate design, balancing and engineering that many believe should occur in the creation of a 'super car' or sports car.

The C4 corvette was the worst one. The current Corvette generation is amazing on the track and actually turns quite well, and it's not riddled with electronics and computer systems that helps the driver like the GT-R.
I'm not saying the GT-R is bad, I'm just saying it takes a better driver to control the Corvette and put the most power down efficiently.

First off, Mini-Guns are .30 cal, not .50. I am a big fan of the C4, but the early ones were rubbish. The interiors were bad plastic and the engines, so-so. The ride was brutal.
Clarkson couldn't hit the desert floor if his life depended on it. And I wonder how modified it was to be remote controlled? In short, how much "vette" was left?

Rolls-Royce Motorcars and Rolls-Royce are actually two different companies; the former is a division of BMW while the later is an aerospace and defense company. This happened when the motorcar business was spun off.
Bentley is owned by Volkswagen.
As for "investing," if the "investment" is a purchase of stock, the part of the company is then owned by whomever has ownership. If over 50%, it's a controlling stake.

You make a good point, however for me, the design aspects of american sports cars are in essence most about making everything bigger. Drop in a Bigger engine, bigger breaks, bigger suspension without the slightest consideration for the intricate design, balancing and engineering that many believe should occur in the creation of a 'super car' or sports car.
For me, ill stick with European engineering!
