• It's one of those topics that is a non-topic to MOST people when they're under 40...I think it has something to do with scapegoating, add a dash of fear of their own mortality ( old people remind them of that ), well i just fell asleep at my keyboard and have to go to bed now...you're a tough s.o.b...stay tough..

  • MrRoth, Grief isa rude guest...think of him as a character ina play if you can...he storms the party, he touches an ailig person and escorts him to death and on his way........but Grief sticks around, eats all the food, and tears at your heart too...you can't really get away from Grief and hte harder you try, he'll just crash your effort...wrestling him when he comes is the fasted way to get closer and closer to the Grief not killing you...you kinda make friends with it....I'm sorry

  • On every website including comedy central and mocospace even..the yungins think u can't be on it past 30. And it shocked me that they all idolize michael jackson who was grandpa age when he passed. Kids vote off good talent on idol as well.

  • What does age matter? It is just a number anyway.

  • My friend from Australia is about 50 and ppl think she has an obligation to be at home with her husband, that she shouldn't travel abroad by herself, and that her haircut is so short she looks like a lesbian. She's one of the most youthful people I know.

First of all, her husband despises travel, and two, she is one of the most adventurous people out there (the kind to carry a Bowie knife and some spare rope), and three, she doesn't value long hair because it's "bothersome."

  • You ARE to old for youtube DO IT ANYWAY! LOL oxoxo

  • Because people are douchebags.

  • Terry... if you're old, I must be ancient!! lol. You are never too old to be on YouTube. Youngsters have a lot to learn hahaha.

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for this... my own self-imposed agism has been the biggest obstacle to my deep desire to participate in youtube. I need to let that go, and not worry about what others may think.

  • I saw one of your Zipster videos, (not sure which one now) but thought, geez, another crackpot on YouTube. I'm 63 now man, and was "away" in the 60's if you know what I mean, and saw plenty. Made it back to the world in 68 and just been learning ever since.

Anyway, I found T-Roth here and all I can say is WoW!! What a genuinely, nice human being.

Good luck to you Terry, really like your videos.

  • Wheel in the sky keeps on turning. When I was out there being different it was "never trust anybody over thirty". Now with half a century in the rear view mirror I am amazed how much I knew back then versus how clueless I am now.

  • agree good like

  • Terry....love the smile....keep it up you need more of em.

  • your not to old...age is j a # and i love ur vids

  • I wish I had subscribers! ha! =]

  • I've been watching Zipster for a couple years now. And while I don't comment much, I want to thank you for letting me into your life. I just found the TL Roth channel and I've watched all the videos. We are completely different, and while I'm much younger (21) and living a different life, I still feel that it's interesting to know what being older is like. Your insights are things that I wouldn't get from my parents or other parents. This doesn't make much sense. But just thank you.

  • WOW, thanks so much!

  • millions stars,TL

    i love to be old

  • I often wondered if I was too YOUNG for YouTube :)

  • I'm 26 Terry and I will never act like you are too old or you don't have a place here. You can laugh at them because of all of your subscribers.Your subscribers (including me of course) can obviously tell you that you have a place here.Youtube puts a face to the name but still the internet is great because it brings people that wouldn't normally be together together in one place that normally wouldn't see each other because of diff. backgrounds. But I am very mature for my age lol.

  • Hu says that we think only of ourselves u jerk!

  • Show some FUCKIN respect, you PUNK!!

Yes, kids nowadays think it's about them. "If you are friends with him then you're not my friend anymore" That goes around elementary school AND high school. Trust me. I've seen it and I was it but I've matured and THANK GOD FOR THAT!!!

  • Pardon my language lol

  • u r not too old ever to be on here...anybody can make a video...just b/c my generation(the kids)grew up with this technology and stuff, doesnt mean its ours...most of the baby boomers and that generation invented this stuff anyways so wtf is wrong with kids today?

  • agism is in this political race too

"what is john mccain trying to do? hes too old"

    its sad

  • Totally agreed. Some of the videos the kids make are so dumb they aren't even worth watching. At least you talk intelligently and I can listen to you and understand you. You're right too about kids thinking they own computers, internet, youtube, myspace and all the other technology that they didn't even have a hand in creating. Interesting how they think it's theirs even though it is the Boomers and Xers that invented a lot of it.

  • Kids do the the world revolves around them. But we can think the same thing and feel good about ourself and our generation, right!!?

  • I'm thirteen. I think that it's never too old to be on youtube, kids who would say that to you are just being immature, little, stuck up, kids.

  • I love how most kids who complain about the older crowd on youtube, yet they go on about Pink Floyd, The Beatles and all these bands that their parents have grown up one...like god!

  • U have a sweet spirit and i am happy to have found you.............I call myself the "mid life crisis lady"........i would love to have the energy i did when i was 20....but with the wisdom i have at 56!!

  • Good morning,

to the a little bit smarter one!

    Nice to hear you

    Elisabeth/ Omalissi (that's means grandmotherLissi)

  • The young will watch the young, the elder crowd will watch the elder people...and if either crowd feel like a change they can swap and change...Just remember they still have to go through puberty LOLOLOL Suckers!!

  • Of everyone on youtube, you are my absolute favorite. Thanks for putting so much time into this thing. Take care man.

    Peace

    Tom

  • Re ageism, I always get amusement from realising that the type of 'young' person who is ageist is just a future 'up-tight, narrow-minded, small-picture hypocrite....', so, take heart, Mr Humbug! Age is but an attitude. They will get old before you and I both!

April at 41 (and a week. Eeck!).

  • I have learned to truly value the advice passed by the seasoned people in my life. People like Terry/Zipster really make mediums like YouTube a better place. If people don't value these contributions, why even watch the vids? I'm 27 and I really don't care what happens in a 14 year old's day at school, sorry. But hearing stories from accomplished artists like this guy here, well that's the sort of thing that I can value.

  • Zipsta your not even THAAAAT old. Just kidding your not old at old zipster

  • Thank You Christine! HA!

  • Man, kids don't know everything! To give them credit, I hear "I wish I was around in the '70's or '80's because things were better then." The ones that say that about music mean it. I always appreciated older people. Kids have a lot to learn. Some of the smarter ones seem to get that.

  • however if you want to judge by facts, the older dominate everything else, without giving the younger a chance. is it not understandable that youth would dictate where they can? this is balance the older generations have taught them.

  • you complain about ageism then go on to say that younger people always think everything is about them/have no wisdom or anything to share other than what they did at school that day...

words of wisdom from a younger individual, the majority of any group, whatever age, race, creed, has always been tainted and ignorant. i don't care if you are on youtube. you shouldn't care if a bunch of punk kids can't understand why you would want to be.

  • i dont think its all about me! haha

and i like watching older people on youtube because i really do like hearing stories from the 60's and 70's and i just really think older people have more expierence in life (oviously) and just have more interesting things to sayy..

  • Hi Zipster, just keep doing what u have been doing. It was at one time that if ur 50 and older that u have to step back and let the young kids take over, NOTTTTTTT! i'm over 50 and i dont step back for on one including kids.Today ppl of older ages are going strong and there enjoying life. You tube is for everyone of all ages. Keep it coming. Hugs to u .....

  • What a sad thing to think 'I may be to old to post on You Tube?

I didn't realize there was such a conflict going on.

More so I didn't know that the kids put an age mandate on here,

Silly kids, don't ya know dictatorship is for Bush to hand out not yous!

  • Hey Zipster it's me...Carrie

Seems that everytime I turn around I find another link to either the music or some other part of your personality. While Zipster makes me smile, you..here...now..on this site makes me feel like I'm listening to an old (well not THAT old) friend. I'm even thinking about digging out the webcam and maybe trying to post a few myself. Thanks again for the inspiration...see how you are!!!

  • I think you're awesome, and I love that you're 'older' you have more experience and more stories to tell. Don't let them get you down, because there is no age limit for entertainment.. I love your videos!

  • you are so right, teenagers take everything for granted and many of them have such a high level of disrespect for their elders. i am so glad to see people of all ages, sexualities, religions, races, etc. all sharing their opinions and stories on youtube. i'm also thrilled that i stumbled across your channels today and i am looking forward to seeing many more of your videos and hopefully getting to know you better, because you seem like such an amazing, down to earth person =)

  • you are so freakin' lovable=)

  • The people who make those statements about age should know that if they do just a little research about both MySpace and YouTube; they will discover that both websites were NEVER intended for Kids (that includes teens).

  • The plain fucking hypocricy of YOU speaking about indignity is almost insulting in itself. I am not one to preach condemnation, but I do give a little advice. Think of me as someone with a "little life experience." Look to thine own eyes first, asshole. And do everyone a favor, get some new material champ. Listening to an old man constantly bitch is more tedious than listening to an infant cry, and in this case, contains pretty much the same amount of actual reason.

  • No one's forcing you to watch his videos, and what he says for the most part is true. I'm only 20 and I get this same shit from little kids on video games I play, and it obviously doesn't stop at just video games. In this case YOU are the one being bitchy, if you don't like his videos, piss off to someone elses channel. It's really that simple.

  • well said. steve and in addition to the matter its people like you that promote these issues and by being to rough and vague in their reasonings... it really offers no real reason as to why... an please keep religious babble out of this

  • Its funny you should mention the idiocy of stereotyping. Does your whining like a hurt little girl about someone saying you don't belong putting your face on a video mean that you haven't yourself ever told someone they didn't belong on camera for something even stupider than their age. I'm willing to bet you love being the victim, but how many people have by your dentured mouth been insulted and otherwise mistreated because they were different from you?

  • I'm not following you... What does having dentures got to do with this?

  • hug =))

  • you can be on youtube you are the people that created these things for our generations thank you

  • ohh and by the way you just made "my" generation feel like an ass, thanks alot...

  • There's no such thing as "too old for YouTube"!

  • The "KIDS" have My Space, FaceBook, etc. for their forum. You are not too old to be on YouTube or any other form of communication that you wish to be on. There are no age restrictions as far as I can see. I love you and all of your characters and hope you continue to entertain us. By the way, I ordered and received the video of your performance at The China Club. I am thououghly enjoying it.

  • if you left youtube because a few ppl said you were too old, i would hunt you down and drag your sorry ass out in the street and give you an old fashioned smack in the mouth to wake you up!

i classify you as one of the building blocks of youtube

you always put a smile on my face, and i'm sure there's alot of people out there that feel the same!

    keep up the great work!!

  • Terry, your channels on YouTube are vitally important. It simply would not be the same without the "Heart of Zipster".

The people making those statements are bitterly jealous.

    We love ya!

  • You are cuter than a litter of puppies!

Thanx for puttin' this out there to the youngin's. As you say Terry, yeah, this happens in every generation. Being the oldies, we smile knowingly. I can remember waaaay back in the day, (i love it when I hear 20 yr olds use that expression,) when I got my fair share of the knowing buddahlike looks...!

  • never too old!! We love you!!

  • yes, more! :D

  • terry, you have the most enchanting smile... i love ya completely :)

perhaps those who are saying you're too old for youtube, are really too young themselves... at least mentally.

  • Terry you rule!!!! Who cares what age you are... Age doesn't matter!... =)

  • Never to old.

  • some of us get smarter, or maybe we were always smarter

thanks for your point of view, I've been dealing with it myself . . .

  • I like your point of view. I'm getting close to 50 but I remember back when I knew everything too. I guess it's only as we get a little more seasoned that we realize we still have a lot to learn and a lot to share.

You know what they say...the more things change...the more they stay the same.

    Peace out

  • can we change the subject?

No? Ok, check my video response and get to meet this old crazy lady.

    NEVER TOO OLD!

We have time enought ahead to keep on the madness,TL!

  • you better stay on youtube

  • I don't make videos but I am sure it would be hard to be judged and read comments that are not nice. Some kids now a days just have no manners and are disrespectful.YOU HAVE millions that love you and think you are wonderful so why focus on some dumb a-- kids

    that are just bored.

  • the key word is KIDS... kids always say crap like that, kids now a days have no respect for anyone, well most of them, why? their parents, end of story. also no one is watching them as they type that shit on here. now lets here from all the parents who will say other wise and its not their fault.. when we were kids we lived by the fear of getting the strap, now kids fear nothing because they get everyting.

  • if you can't win them, join them

  • People are so dumb.

  • I just do not get it when people say that you are to old for YouTube!Myself I am 54,but I think that YouTube needs people in ever age.Otherwise the page will be to boring and biased!

  • What can I say Terry? You're my little brother's age so it's kinda hard thinking about you as too old for YT. Most of the kids are pretty boring.

  • this is my first time checking out this channel and ive been watching zipster for about a month... wow.. i must say, im even more charmed x 10.

  • Its so nice to see another video on this channel, I cant wait for the next installment, and yes you are correct, Id rather watch a wiser older person than someone with no life experience.

  • i like watching your videos but why do you have to you tube? you don't have to tell me.

  • I was just remarking to a friend of mine how I met you at Southtube and how vibrant you are- you've got more life in you than a lot of the 20,30 40, etc. somethings I meet.

  • Thanks, did you also tell them that it took me a week to recover? :-)

  • As I write this I am a 56 year old gay male, who lost his mother 13 years on this day. Damn I am having flash backs to this day. In one hour it will be when the corner called me to let me know that she died of a massive heart attack. 30 years ago I told her I was gay, she should not accept it.

More to be added. Sorry it is your page that I need to vent.

  • Please feel free!

  • I know that's right! :)

  • Great points Terry....I sometimes question why I am here and you summed it up perfectly!!

    Hoo Hoo

  • if you live long enough you get old

  • One thing is for sure, we all grow up.

  • People who spout that nonsense need a hobby. You're delightful. It's used as a cheap, unintelligent dis.

  • Keep on youtubing--I enjoy your videos. Sometimes I feel too old to be watching YouTube videos at 42, but it is just so entertaining.

  • zipster on crack

  • It's a youth-oriented society here in the States. I don't get a lot of respect from the teenage YT'ers, but the college age kids I work with are respectful. I'm 46.

  • Hey, in Japan, the really internet-savvy people are the old grannies. They think it's fun, and a good way to keep in touch.

  • Happy Birthday to the man behind the mask.

    You're a treasure lovie.

    Natal day kisses,

    Vera

  • happy birthday!

  • well said and insightful, some of these kids out here have real talent and I try to encourage at very bend, but the vast majority of them are just the average turn of the mill prepubescent ramblers of uninteresting trivia. It is always refreshing to encounter meaningful posts by folk who wish to impart their personal wisdom.

  • yep, like me, you've probably been called an ole hippy, too...I just ignore, but feel sad that that outlook is a part of this younger generation; on the up note, there are those that do love the elders...honest! I know some! LOL my good friend's daughter likes hangin out with the older crowd! (no, she's not on drugs lol)

  • I don't care what someone's age or sexual orientation is ~ It's what they say and what I can learn from them that counts.

I just discovered you here after subscribing to Zipster awhile back, and I do enjoy listening to you as.....well, YOU!

Keep up the good work...I luv ya no matter what age you are. :-)

  • I with ya MAN!!! Nice to see ya here

  • I agreed to Underdog123, age is just a Number. You´re never to old for anything. If it makes Fun just do it, playing around on YouTube play Computer Games

the only what is important is that you have Fun.

  • Well, 15-year-olds think they invited the word "fuck" and the act of sex itself. Ha ha.

    Great vid, full of wisdom.

  • Age is just a Number you're never too old for Youtube.

  • I agree with everything you just said. I am also thinking that these kids will be mortified when they look back and see what they so 'profoundly and deeply' stated when they were young. They have no clue about the wisdom they will have after 40. They think they are wise now. Hee hee!

  • Ain't that the truth? LOL. I'd never want to be 18 again.

  • Wow. I have to say, Zipster took a while to grow on me, and I just discovered TLRoth. Terry...I'm so SO impressed. Your wisdom and truth are incredible. Thanks for doing everything you do, and please...KEEP IT UP! :)

  • You are fantastic and inspiring. Keep up the wonderful work :)

  • Dude, keep it up, it's like a talk show which I like.

  • OMG, your video's are way better than Zipster.

  • You are so right, Terry. Thank goodness we paid a little attention during our years. Wouldn't life have been boring if we hadn't? HUGS!

  • If you want to post videos, then POST VIDEOS.

Who gives a shit what the kids think.

    They'll be old someday too.

Youtube is for everyone, not just kids.

  • *

    *

    *

    *

    *

  • I think you are one wise gent, Zippy, and, as you say, we thought we ruled the world when we were young too!

  • wtf,zipster?u have 2 accounts?oh my god,there's 2 of you!thats horrible!

  • The older the better.

  • I have always looked to older gay men for the very reasons you point out.. well sometimes more.. and I think I'm better for it.

  • Just think how much nicer this world would be if everybody was concerned more about who were the good people with good hearts instead of crap like their age, sexuality, etc. From what I've seen you are a good person with a big heart and I hope you know how much many of us value you as a person. Please don't pay the ignorant and their comments any mind. You can't fix stupid!

  • Hi Terry..you said it very well. I think its so sad that these kids have such lack of respect for well...everything. Fortunately they are not all like that so there is still hope....

    Keep smiling!

  • love the vid so true

    RgB

  • Too old?...LMAO, too many maybe! lol..I see something coming with Ida Rosenburg. I guess necessity is the mother of invention. Talk about a platform to rip on some a-holes! They should all be careful how they rip on you, or Ida, LM, GG or Zip will figure out a way to respond. There's a whole gang of ya.

    Peace to you all.

  • Thanks!!

  • amen zips !!!!!!!!!!!

  • The YT vid police keep saying "You need to enter..blah, blah, blah"..I DiD already, but alas it won't work, SO:

BOY, ISn't it the TRUTH?!! I grew up around mostly adults, and really PREFERRED to spend time with adults, {esp. older ones}, because I wanted to LEARN something! NOT waste time hearing girls whining about how they BROKE a NAIL, and whose biggest problem was what to wear, or a Math final on Friday! I had too much tougher stuff goin' on! GREAT vLOG Terry! Love ya;)

  • Damm you are too sexy for anyone to call you old. Anyone who can smile like that and brighten up my lousy day is not old. It's your heart, your sould, you are here to impart your laughter, kindness, wisdom and your heart...those who get it, do...those who don't often will learn when it's too late. Great vblog Zip. Love You

  • "we" love you too, mama!! xoxo

  • all those kids, they're too young for youtube!

  • heh just do wat ever you want i don't really care

  • so true;) one thing that worries me about the younger gener of today and the future is they have so many more mediums to have a voice, and they're all talking/judging w/o thinking. whereas before the 24/7 society, at least people were measured in their actions. I really love your strong voice in topics & the joys of your array of characters;)luv ya

  • well said!

  • I left u a vid response to this. Your mother is so precious. What a treasure you have in her. You are so fortunate to still have her.

  • That was such a sweet video.

Teen angst is so cute and funny. The older I get, the more it amuses me. As much as I'd like to smack some of these kids absolutely silly, I feel sorry for them, because they grew up in such a stupid, empty, culture. You have to have a sense of humor about the ageist part. :)

  • thanks a bunch for making me smile here and there, you are a wonderfull person =))

  • Thank YOU!!

  • I had no clue there was an age limit on youtube. HUh, I hope that rule disappears and that you keep doing what you are doing. You rule:)and I like the different ages.

  • Small component of a much larger discussion. When we were growing up, "elder" was not an archaic word, but we have taught them that we don't want to be burdens to them. We taught them that philosophy. I have also heard older people speak ill of younger people, and treat them disrespectfully. I worry about the young people who are cutting, etc. now. But yes, agism is a big problem, and I am sorry, especially since I am an OLD LADY now. :-)

  • I think the kids who say, "you're too old for Youtube", just don't get it. TV and movies are starting to get boring...because they can't tell an original story anymore! You and Peter have many stories. They are life lessons learned. They are funny stories of another time, when the world was a different place. There are some interesting kids on Youtube, but kids can't take you back in time.

  • you want me to get the goons on him

  • OMG Terry -- YOU are one of the many reasons why I come on here! I never would have found your awesome music and all the stories that go along with it. You can rock harder than alot of "youngsters" on here! LOVE your smile!!!

  • yea, yer never too old for.. anything at all. :)

  • Well spoken. And I have to add that you have the best smile. That smile at the end... fantastic! :D

  • I think it's really important to preserve and promote diversity on YouTube, if we want it to be a genuine community, especially if we want it to be a forum for sharing real ideas. If it's left solely to one group, it will become intellectually stagnant, and lose a lot of its value. Thanks for being on YouTube, and bringing your opinions and experiences to the community! :)

  • Our own TLRothavarius

  • You got it. Wisdom and Life Experience is valuable and many young people do understand and a just few mentally slow ones don't. But that's okay because it won't be long till they catch on. hmmm Maybe, if they ever do but let's enjoy the 99% that we are proud of! Mr. & Mrs. GeezerArt

  • never to old for youtube ,, youtube is basicly built on reality and in reality most respect our olders and learn alot from them with there storys and advice etc , those that are saying this just want script fake 30 second entertainment clips as they fear anything diffrent to adverts on tv on which they was brought up on

  • Terry..

How many times did you almost slip and say prescribers?

I do it with occifer all the time. And the simple answer to the universe is when you realize that you know nothing you'll find peace ;)

  • Yeah! You tell 'em TLRoth! Your aging like fine wine my dear!

  • I find myself calling everyone 25 and under "kid" now. I do look forward to getting older just for the fact that I will be learning more and more. And there is no way you're too old for youtube.

  • Yer so handsome!

  • I agree with you, I can't stand Teenagers now a days. I als can't stand the EMOS.

  • Ageism... since the beginning of time.

  • Where did these cretins get the idea that it is any of their business ? If it had been exclusively for teens and young adults it would have been called YouthTube and people of a certain age would not have been able to sign on.

  • God.. do you realize how scary it is watching this... after meeting you?

  • How is it scary?? I've met him too and it doesn't have that affect on me! :-)

  • Yeah....what Sue said!??

  • creepy zippy :P

  • You are never too old for this place. As long as you have a head on your shoulders, and you know the value of a kind word, then you can't be too immature either. But that's the problem, I guess. I'm young with a mentality beyond my years, but there are a fair share of older, and younger, idiots out there. It's all about sorting through everyone, really. Me thoughts? Go for it, and enjoy whatever you can get at. And yay for all the queers on here. I love it.

  • This isn't ageism, these idiots will say anything to anyone. They'll tell someone they're too fat, old, gay, stupid, ugly, black, whatever. It isn't about them being young, it's about them being fucking retarded. Young people get a bad rap sometimes, but idiocy is evenly distributed across the age spectrum.

  • T, at 50 I am truly troubled by the stupidity of others as well as having a very low tolerance for bull s--t. I am very scared for the future. What if these kids had to deal with the stuff we did on our way up the line? I mean their lives are on auto pilot because of people like us. At times I think to myself that maybe it is our fault for making it too easy for them. I don't have an answer but I do believe in evolution...and I'm worried about it.

  • TL, you know that only the ones who aren't creative enough to come close to producing the videos you make are mostly the ones who post dumb nasty comments. Keep doing what you are doing.

  • ur fuckin creepy

  • nope - never too old for you tube! - i'll be 50 this coming saturday - these are the best years!

  • NO TOO STUPID.....

  • Yep. Ageism sucks. Like most isms.

  • "Old age and treachery will win out over youth and skill".

    Steve (GG)
