it stays at 6000 rpms cuz its a cvt transmission. it won't change gears cuz it doesn't actually have any gears. but it seems limited around 120 cuz it stopped. if u wanna race a maxima ur better off getting the older model. i love this car but it doesnt have the same potential the older model has. and thats a personal thing. i bet u can make it faster. but i personally don't think its worth it

gonna take a while... ive gotten to 154 using a diablo, but its not possible unless ur on a dyno and have a good 5 minutes. i reccomend getting the diablo, i have a custom turbonetics 47mm on her now (2009) and getting past 150, had to get a new speedo, i got the boost at 9 lb's so its not too much. you need to get an adaptor, and alot of other modifications... worth it tho. ive spent around 2,300 ontop of the midline version (not sure wat its called, it has the sport package with leather

one thing is you dont know how to work a CTV trans. how about you put it in Ds and (drive sport) and if you want to you can shift it and if you dont it will still be better in Ds because it won't stay at the same RPM. to get the performance and Torque out of the car you probably need to do that.

@bobbertobber Actually if you want to be technical it depends on what type of CVT you are talking about.. in the nissans case.. it uses two pulleys to alternate power ratios.. so there is really no shifting involved.. because there is no gear box.. when u put it in sport mode.. its still not shifting, its just changing preset ratios to simulate shifting..

You have a point ridingslow but stock to stock the newer maxima will destroy the 4 or 5 gen maximas. The only thing the older ones have over the newer ones are alot of mods there aren't many for the 6 gens and the same for the newer ones.
