@chocolate96466 I've added you to the "YES" count. Sorry, I don't have any advice on how to stop earworms except that sometimes when I have one that is annoying, I listen to some actual music that I like for a while and it seems to make the bad stuff go away. Hope that helps.
Yes, I very very often have music going in my head. Odd thing is, I have little control over it, and sometimes it will be something just great and other times it will be something maddening, like "Popeye the Sailor Man," which WILL NOT STOP.
Yes. All the time. Most of my songs initially come to me without effort. Even when I'm filming my movies, the music that will be in the film is ALREADY playing in my head ;-)
Yeah, but I ignore or enjoy it depending. I'm grateful for my musical memory as I suffered a sudden sensory neural hearing loss over a year ago. I'm now deaf in one ear. This is tragic for me as I have perfect pitch. I was born into a family of professional musicians. When I sing I only hear and feel with one side of my head. Why couldn't my hearing loss have happened to someone tone deaf (like on the stupid t.v. talent shows?) Sound is the emotional sense.. if any sense can be called that.
Yes. -And when I'm not 'hearing' music in my head, I notice that I group general noises into rhythmic patterns. It really bugs me when there are clashing tones or more than one rhythm competing, too.
YES!!! I do that too! especially with machine noises which are already rhythmic but other things like clanking dishes and silverware in restaurants or people walking, etc. cause the development of a beat. Sometimes they remind me of a song which then may develop into an earworm too. A lot of electronic sounds remind me of songs that also get stuck in my head. Life is just one long presentation of Stomp!
I am always thinking abut this, sometimes I here music in my head all day, and not a song from the radio, but real compositions or original music I have never heard before. Cool survey.
Yes. Especially when doing rythmic-based tasks like just walking, i synchronized the music playing with my walking... When I think about it, it's amazing. Tells us about how the most primitive region of the brain is wired to music. Somehow.
Yes, I usually do have music running in my head unless there is pain in my body. I have to be careful because often people are irritated when I hum what I am hearing.
i constantly have music going through my head, but ive also been a musician since i was 12 & im now 26. i started with guitar, then started messing around with bass, & when i was around 20 i started to play the drums. i've taught myself how to play all of the instruments on my own & im currently a drummer in a metal band. my guitarist and i were saying how it was wierd that i cant remember shit, but can hit random drums & cymbals fast as hell in an exact sequence over & over with out messing up
By the way: If you'd like, I will have our company, RichContent broadcast this with much more reach. If you have a thesis outline and/or article or press release, we'll get that distribution as well (you can do a quick Google search or check my bio here).
This is important work. Let me know if me or my team or associates can help.
I have music in my mind every now and then. Not all the time though.
Would love to read about the actual results of the whole researchproject actually so pls contact my youtubeaccount. Would be much appreciated since i am studying musicology myself.
In a short story by Kurt Vonnegut, "The Boy Who Hated Girls," one character is a music teacher who hears music in his head almost constantly, so much so that it often drowns out the words of people who are speaking to him. This has happened to me on occasion. I'd say THAT's too much, wouldn't you?
Yes, most of the time it's a few songs i've put together in my head to make one awsome song though. It's probably because I don't listen to a songs lyrics except if it's the chorus though lol.
yes! once a friend and i were doing some work outside... all of a sudden we started singing the same part of the same song. so the song was playing in both of us at the same time. it was awesome!
Oh, wait, after reading that again it's a "Yes" reply, people AND songs stick in your head. Maybe I should make another survey video asking who different songs make you think of besides the singer/composer.
Obviously not all the time though. Here's a challenge, try listening to strange music that you wouldn't normally listen to--i.e. folk music from Cambodia--and see if after a certain amount of time your brain has mastered it enough to give you an 'ear worm'.
Yes, but this same question different form always bothers me... "Do you hear your thoughts in your head? Or is it just a figment of your memory speaking to you as you think it?" It's confusing. :P
i usually see my thoughts written out, or in pictures. i only "hear" my thoughts if i'm recalling a conversation, noise, song, etc (even then it's generally subtitled though)...
I'm on my second iPod already. Traded the 40 Gig 1st gen in for a lightweight 2 Gig nano. Also bought iPods for everyone in the family last Christmas! (Except for the dog. I wonder if he hears music in his head...)
yes sometimes its completly random music when i wake up & im sitting there eatin breakfast & i hear that song later in tyeh day its weird or on a dif note i think of an episode of a tv show& i see it later on that day
17. Music plays in my head when my hamster is in the mood to play a gig, but i guess on the most part my hamster is running in the spinning wheel trying to process sumthin- like porn or boring math.
I usually am thinking about something instead of hearing music in my head, but sometimes if I'm bored or walking from one place to another, which is when I'll usually hear it, I'll have music in my head.
yes, but not allways, just lots of times. especialy if i like the song. but lots of times if im doing math or something other than nothing, i might be humming or haveing a song in my head. and i might even be talking and have a song in my head, just depends a lot if i like the song or not. lol happens to me a lot with the song zombie.
I don't generally have music in my head. There's a lot of other junk floating around in there. When I do get music in my head I sing it out loud as to not trap it.
Music playing in my head "most" of the time would seem to me to be quite a bit of music. So I answer No. Maybe I'm just not good at running two channels of thought at the same time. I'm usually thinking about *something*, however insignificant it might be. I like music but having it in my head most the time would crowd out too many other thoughts.
No, looks like I'm a minority. I rarely get a song stuck in my head, unless it's really annoying. There are too many other voices in there to play music. (JokeMaster)
I think your right Mike most of us have music playing in our heads. When GOD created us he created us to praise HIM and worship HIM to have a relationship. I think that it is kind of hard to express ones self towards another without a little movement (Salsa good!). Remember the first dance. an expression of reaching out to that person. To honor her. Some people like to keep the music in their head, now a days because of the damn thoughts that running wild they why they where created.
