I read this book a long time ago, but from what I can remember Coyotito, the child, dies because he is shoot by those greedy guys which were following his familly. No matter what some would say, this is a wonderful book, and Steinbeck is a great writter. All should, first of all, read this. After all, it has not got the size of -War and peace-. Come on!
SPOILER ALERT~DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW THE ENDING
@TheSkrawnyApple No, the baby dies at the end. Another fantastic work by Steinbeck, the baby is mistaken by a hunter to be a coyote. See? His name is Coyotito. Cool huh? Anyways, at the end a hunter shoots the baby because he thinks its a coyote and he shoots his gun into the cave where Juana and the baby are hiding. When Kino and Juana return home, Juana is caring a bundle, which is little Coyotito.
John Steinbeck was worse than pathetic(if that's possible)--Frank Muller gives life to his scribblings and makes the dull material worth listening to.
@buzzclick500 how can you say that?! Steinbeck is an amazing, describtive, author. He provides so much imagery. Personally, I hate the Pearl's storyline... but still... I dare you to read 'Of Mice and Men' I just started it and am so bewildered by his word choice. It has fantastic imagery. Lets see you do any better! Again, I'm not crazy about the story line, but it's still a classic, and descriptive piece of literurature.
@kittykatz428 : Good comment. I've been reading since I was 5, and writing comprehensively at 9. Stephen King is good, and I had that opinion long before I knew that he also teaches English. ;])
@kittykatz428 : All a writer really is(and I'm certainly not putting us down as a group)is someone who compulsively puts words onto paper. Some of the best ones can't hold a normal, decent conversation with another person. I like some of Ann Rices work, but I wouldn't want to converse with her--she's long-winded.
@kittykatz428 : If description is what you want, try reading the Marquis de Sade--get your parents permission first, 'cause it COULD traumatize you for life. Edward Lewis Wallant is good, "The Tenants of Moonbloom"(one of my all-time favorites). Also, "It Can't Happen Here", by Sinclair Lewis.
@buzzclick500 Yea i love to read but im more into fantasy like Harry Potter (!!!) Fablehaven, and the Percy Jackson Series. I read Steinbeck's work for language arts class :P
NEED MORE BOOKS THAT ARE READ IN SCHOOL LIKE THIS ONE - EXCELLENT AUDIO BY MR. FRANK MULLER- LOVE HIS CALM VOICE EXCELLENT JOB................THANK YOU, MEMPHIS CHARTER SCHOOL......THIS MADE MY LIFE EASIER AS MY SON AND I BOTH LISTEN TO THE NOVEL READ BY YOU.....THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN.
I personally would want to help those in your situation but I am merely an uploader, a Romanian one, who, fascinated by some readings, thought he could make a contribution by posting some of the works that he could discover on the Internet. I can only advise to browse different torrents and hope that those interested will find what they need.
