  • Fat

  • Frakkin classic...this band should have gone far beyond what they did,

  • I like how Julien-K modernized this.

  • Imagine mainstream music not controlled by Simon Cowell...

  • I found that song back on a tape recorded around 82.... She has an incredible voice and therefore she looks good too !

  • All things aside,When this song came out,I was blown away! Debora has an amazing voice & will hold a place in the eighties as a chick that could vocally kick some serious butt!

  • Wow. This was from the movie Reckless. Quinn and Hannah.

  • @BOTANYBAY37 That's what I was thinkin'! Sexy teen angst movie from my youth!

  • She would be hot if she lost all that extra weight

  • just .....just try to top this one....off

  • This song is Uber cool.

  • must justin bieber share a name of such an epic song!

  • Happy Dance Tune that flashes everyone back to the day.

    ENJOY!!!!!!

  • Incredible song! This brings back so many memories :)

  • Ive always liked this song. :)

  • They opened for U2

  • BEST. BAND. EVER.

  • I love how she doesn't give a shit what she looks like. They tried so hard to hide Ann Wilson of Heart's weight gain back in the 80s.

  • When I first heard this back in the day it had a intense hypnotic affect on me

  • @TheMoonunit13

Absolutely and it stil does 30 years on...

  • One of the best songs from the 80s… which appeared in one of the best movies of the 80s, ‘Reckless.’

  • "I might like you better if we slept together" best lyrics ever.

  • @twigagawizard I always thought it was "Ma 'd like you better if we slept together"

  • Fn awesome.

  • WTF has someone's weight got to do with the song? I might like you all better if we didn't sleep together

  • Great

  • This Song brings me back the old school days This FUCKING SONG STILL KICKS ASS to this day!

  • This song rocks!! I bought the EP when it first came out and played the hell out of it. Got to see them in 1982/83 with Translator (another great SF band).

  • This is pretty much the only video from the 1980s that is as cool as I remember, and that I like as much as I did when it came out. But why did I think they were a "local band" ( from Portland, OR ?)

  • GREAT FUCKIN' SONG!!!!!

  • PURE AWESOME.

  • The world is full of chunky women who sing well. Allison Moyet. The british gal who won "Britain's got Talent" whose name I can't recall. Mama Cass. It's the vocal chords and training that count, not weight.

  • old school skaa

  • @MrFrogg46 i think of byron lee more as the "old school ska".. this is just new wave punk with a horn section. if you like it though you should listen to X-ray Spex

  • They were 20 yrs before there time!!!!

  • The early '80s was a brilliant time to be a college kid and be into the alternative scene. Romeo Void was one of those cool college bands of the day. Pogo-ing to this song in the clubs of Boston...unreal fun.

  • I always imagined the singer of this song to be really hot. i guess i was wrong.

  • @Mikeraske you are wrong.period...just because your imagination doesnt .live up to your tube sock and lotion..post a picture of yourselff..lets vote

  • @Simon4642 Lol wtf. I was never complaining. I still dig this song. I'm sorry i don't think the singer is hot.

  • the 4 dislikes were rockin to hALL n oates...dilts

  • @sabalouie2000 ` LOL!!!

  • no doubt she can sing her ass off

  • This band / Lead Vocalist is siiiikkkkk

  • Say what you want; this chick was f`n hott!!! PLEASE someone tell me she`s still alive............

  • @BIGBODYCONNECTION ....Dig!!

another big girl from the 80's that was great was...Alison Moyet from YAZ,

  • this band pushed the envelope when it came to a frontwoman. Debora is a great singer and should not be chastized because of her weight. American Idol is full of skinny girls who can't sing half as good as she can. if it's bad ass...it's bad ass no-matter what. you dig?

  • @BIGBODYCONNECTION Hey, I like my women with a little meat on them!

  • I love her

  • this girl's a female meatloaf

  • ok what was the name of that 80's movie this song was in i loved that movie and cant remember the name of it.. the girl in it ha d loooooooong ass blonde hair???

  • @sicilianpride42" Reckless" with Adian Quinn

  • @sicilianpride42 Valley Girl with Nicholas Cage

  • @sicilianpride42 valley girl?

  • @24asteria The Move was Reckless - best dance seen ever.

  • the only void is in the refrigerator

  • @1nondescript1 + I'm fat, and I HAD to like that!!

  • They are great one of the reasons I moved from Milwaukee to San Francisco, Deborah is the real deal, talented and Native American and sweet as pie, I'd see her at the Up and Under Pub in the Mission back in the day, real cool, real New Wave, all American punk rock, seminal.

  • WAS She A GREAT BIG FAT LADY ?

  • GREAT SONG.,and video.Miss these days!

  • Anybody remember the VH1 special in 2003/2004 where they brought Romeo Void back and had them do this song again live?

  • i love this song another one of my all time classic tunes from the 80's i sure do miss this band they was fantisitc!

  • All other music blows! This what it is all about... Get into the Void!

  • The vocalist kicks ass.

  • One of the greatest 80's songs, hands down.

  • fuckin legends - gonna cover this

  • Love this classic!

  • The lead singer reminds me of Rosie O'Donnell. Killer tune by the way.

  • I heard this on Dodgeball lmao

    I love it.

  • queens of the stone cover does this song alot of justice.

  • I have heard this song on Vice City, for a long time, and it's stuck in my head 2day. I just wanted to listen to it, but i ended up finding this. She is the exact opposite of how i pictured her! But it's cool. I really do like this song. :)

  • Guy on sax into fat girls

  • Eh heh...her family is local, know many of her cousins...

  • possibly da HIPPEST group ever,, NEVER SAY NEVER!!!!!!

  • One of my fav songs

  • great song, I remember listening to them in my younger years. thxs for the memories

  • Good Brit Punk!! Rosie O'Donnell could only wish to be Her

  • When was this song released?

    I love this song!

Where are these people now? Are they still performing? And who is that gorgeous little morsel at 2:01?

  • @pnolanrn It was released in 1982; it received popular radio & TV video play in Sept. & Oct. of that year.

  • When was this song released?

    I love this song!

Where are these pl now? Are they still performing? And who is that gorgeous little morsel at 2:01?

  • When was this song released?

    I love this song!

Where are these pl now? Are they still performing?

  • Serious TALENT her, you Bieber slurpers!

I might like you better if you weren't an art history major....

  • Loved this time in music. So much fun!

  • This hit MTV like Smells Like Teen Spirit, but the rest of the LP was chilly new-wave, not bad, but not the same. Not that ANYONE has written anything like this since.

And as anyone who reads the comments will note, there's the weird obsession so many wankers have with her looks. What are you saying guys? You like the song but can't masturbate to it? She's probably about 50 now, how's that mess with your heads?

Anyway, a classic, one of a kind.

Produced magnificently by Ric Ocasic, of the Cars

  • my dad told me he saw this band and he was so blown away on how they sound just as good live

  • also check out the 12"s: {Art of Mix 12} youtube.com/watch?v=YeuukZeCMtI and the original 12" youtube.com/watch?v=DOrgbv37S_8

  • @djfakt No way man! The QOTSA cover version sucks. This, as well as the 6 minute 12" version are CLEARLY superior.

  • QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE'S VERSION IS VASTLY SUPERIOR.

    NOT EVEN CLOSE.

  • @djfakt I refuse to believe you were born in 1978. You can't think that and be older than me.

    -Joe E Dangerously

  • A piece of rock history, this song captures the mood of the time....love it, thanks for sharing. Im reliving my punk past right now kiddies, kiss my barbed wired ass

  • i might like you better if you washed that thang ;-P

  • the QOTSA version owns this, but this is awesome too

  • the most angly woman ever

  • Britney Spears could never handle this tune . . .

  • i didnt know the lead singer was so hot

"i might like you better if we slept together"

  • San Francisco, baby...This SO rocks!! I was there in '83 and it was indeed awesome. I'm still there and it's still awesome!

  • I liked this song and seen them open up for another group I went to see at the Ritz in NYC early-mid 80s.

  • This tune still rocks,, luve it..

  • hey y'all this band is the shit! i was alive and present at their shows and i disagree that most of their music sucks!!! debra iyall is still a gorgeous singer and fabulous writer, screw the sexist creep remarks abt her size, she ROCKS

  • you know, the record label that they were signed on tried to get them to get a new front girl to give the 'void' more sexability. The whole band said get effed! good for them.

  • @fruchieyak - Who says Debora Iyall wasn't sexy?

  • you know, the record label that they were signed on tried to get them to get a new front girl to give the 'void' more sexability. The whole band said get effed! good for them.

  • I might like u btr if we slpt 2gether

this song is still the shit!

  • YES!!! Fun times! Fun music....

  • All this time I thought it was a girl band

  • Started DJing 80s in San Francisco recently, everything on 45. It took awhile to find this one, but it really gets the crowd going! Especially when played with Berlin and Missing Persons.

  • what a great pickup line

  • @LenMacHarStaBEAT what is?

  • HELL YEAH!!!

  • She's hawt for a big size. Love this band. anyone know if they're still together.. I hope they're all still alive. I'm pretty sure they're a SF band or bay Area. I saw them walking by slims in San Francisco on 11th one night. The windows where open and the concert fell out into the streets. People dancing off 11th and Folsom. Very cool night.

  • Everybody Loves Raymon and GTA VICE CITY!! :-D

  • Man - I never saw this girl singer before - had a WAY different image of her all these years!

  • @philipatoz Me too. I always pictured her to look like a combination of Terri Nunn and Siouxsie.

  • 3:02 love it!

  • this song is pure awesomeness when youre stoned.

  • I have always absolutely loved this song! This song totally kicks ass for sure!! Debora is an amazing woman full of complete talent and her voice has a haunting feel to it that just draws you in. Romeo Void rocks!! Such great memories, the best really! Such a great era to grow up in. Why it all had to change, I guess that is life but hard to let go of what we loved the most. I will always miss the 80's but I hold the memories tightly in my heart forever. Missing the 80's. 80's forever!!

  • Deborah had such a great 80's voice...just think of all the imitators out there now.

  • high school dances this would rock mar vista imperial beach 1980's

  • that was the jam

  • thanks for the post!

  • i might like this better if she wasn't such a fat pig

  • i lived during this time. i was 13 when i heard this song and it rocked!

  • FUGGIN' AY! ROMEO VOID RULED!

  • gta vice city

    fuck yeah

  • Go Debbie, GO!

  • I loved this song!!! 1983 YAY!

    ROOOOOOOOOOOOOAAARRRRRRRRRRR

  • I Love New Wave! Come Back To Me

  • The lady's name is Debora Iyall and she sang her ass off in more than just this tune. She's now an art teach in Cali and in a band called Knife Through Water - and could kick Lady GAGme's ass off in a talent contest. I'd say her being part Samoan, she'd kick a morons ass or two as well, tekatetikitiki :) Debora ROCKED and still does...what are you 'kids' doing?

  • This babe isn't in the band for her looks, u MORONS. In music VOICE MATTERS.

  • @tekatetikitiki yes, but too many Americans watch American Idol seem to think thats what matters. No wonder theres so much poor music being made today.

  • @unemployablelegs:The answer to "poor music being made today" is that at the beginning of the 90's, the music industry in America, in "association' with the political left in this country put the finishing touches on "their objective" : 2 make the style & ways(among them rap music) of the minorities(most importantly black people),mainstream & acceptable..U did read it well: MAINSTREAM.Nowadays minorities & white people r more integrated, which is good, BUT THEY DIDN'T HAVE 2 KILL ROCK MUSIC!!

  • @tekatetikitiki the talent is lower then before as well. I don't live in the US but I fail to understand the whole rap industry. They talk about shooting and violence, what is the point of that ? African Americans don't like the N word being said yet that word is used constantly in their lyrics ? What would Dr Martin Luther King Jr think of that ? And can middle class white kids relate to what rap artists are speaking about anyway ?

  • @unemployablelegs: The political agenda of the "left" in America that I told u about on previous comments was supported IRONICALY by "capitalism", which sells rap and hip-hop music to a market of 80 plus million of potential consumers just in the USA.!!! Now, add some more Latin-Americans and recently "CONVERTED TO RAP AND HIP HOP MUSIC" white Americans, and you got the ANSWER: BIG BUSINESS!! ...YOU'RE RIGHT: Dr. King must be revolving on his grave if he listens to that CRAP.

  • @unemployablelegs: I don't know about Northern European societies, but this "MEDIOCRITY" process of lowering "taste" standards on every aspect of the arts it's not a local issue: In the Spanish speaking world,in the 60's,and up 2 the mid 80's(I'm referring now 2 "pop music")artists used 2 create great acoustic sounds on the form of ballads. Then came "want to be rockers" with what the music industry called "rock en espanol) & everything deteriorated;even rap in spanish came into the scene,ha,ha.

  • @tekatetikitiki after all you typed, you must like this song.....right? or no.....I like their sound and beat.....

  • @mrgarcia500: I agree with u......my extended comments were directed to "unemployablelegs", below.

  • @unemployablelegs :when it comes 2 sounds, the standards are LOWER THAN BEFORE. Unfortunately the masses follow "the winners", and that's why I laugh when Eastern Europeans, who never experieneced the West types of freedoms up 2 the late 80's, go & follow what America sells them lately: mediocrity such as Justin Timberlake,Puff Daddy,or Kanye West "music". I wonder if any of these punks know how 2 play a guitar, drums, or saxophne...MUSICIANS??? HA, HA, HA. Take care:Gabriel from California.

  • @tekatetikitiki yar damn you are right ! It's nowadays you MUST have a cool big boobies nice ass and a producer to sleep with and ... maybe ... you should have a voice)

  • @deminidze

The dude is right, it's very important to have a great voice when you talk-sing. A regular Susan Boyle, this one is.

  • I gotta say that I prefer the cover, but this version kicks ass.

  • SOOOO 80s! :)

  • it rocks!

  • It's not Rosie O Donnell, you freak!! This song is on Vice City, isn't it?!! And Dawn French is beautiful, so........

this lady is a real rock chick ain't she!!! oh the 80s...no fakery what so ever!!!!!

  • Did you just say no fakery what so ever....and the 80's in the same sentence??

  • @83Brokenwings LOL, Dawn French

  • @pazjoe16 You...idiot.

  • i know! i should have known! im like her biggest fan!!

    ....JFK

  • wondered how Dawn French got into the industry

  • this song is just the coolest. What more can i say except that Romeo void is a totally rockin' band and Ive been rockin' with them since the 80's. The 80's forever!
