Illegitimacy was such a big deal then.........what gets me is that it was 'good' girls who got 'caught' the 'bad' ones knew how to prevent these things happening. I'm thankful we all have recourse to birth control if we want it!
what the hell!!!! May should just take the damn offer in going to a clinic, there's a good chance she might die having it at home. I don't get her, she doesn't want Brazendale near her but when he has to leave she is POed. I don't even know who pisses me off the most but I do feel sorry for Mr. Brazendale
@ChildOfTheFlower 1. She knows as an unmarried mother she will have to suffer the judgement of the nurses and she wants to avoid being looked down on as much as possible 2. It would be quite easy for the Brazendales to 'arrange' for the baby to be taken away from her the moment it was delivered and given to a 'proper' family to be adopted (ie them) and a working-class unmarried mother like May wouldn't have any means to stop it. At least at home she's got the people who care about her.
I've mentioned the music of "Lilies" twice before on these comment boards, but I have to say this. The music that starts at about 7:12 is so beautiful and heartbreaking.
Is this the last episode?

Wow! For church attending folk, they sure can be hyperjudgemental and mean!

May looks just like a girl in our town who steals from people's houses and scams them all over the place. It's irritating to watch May.
