Hey... maybe it's not ignorance that I have, maybe it's just that I (like MOST people in the world) would never even entertaint the thought of buying a 7000$ watch, because IF we ever had that kind of money, we would find a more practical use for it.
@CleverDjembe You argument is that it's a waste? Just because something can be done cheaper, doesn't mean the more expensive rendition is pointless. Similarly, just because something performs a certain function doesn't mean its value is only dictated by that single function. The craftsmanship, care, design and artistry which goes into this piece are also worth money.
Age old argument. A Toyota does the same job as a Rolls, a rubber band does what a 18k Money Clip does, a pair of flip flops does the same thing a pair of Versace's does. And so forth and so forth, but who cares. If you dont like the finer things in life, power to you go do whatever the hell you do, nobody's here telling you how to live.
In my opinion $40 is TOO MUCH for a Timex. Preowned 7.5k For this JLC is not bad.

Beautiful watch, you're a lucky man! There's just not enough Jaeger's on youtube. I am saving for a Memovox and Reverso Grande GMT, give it 4 months and I'll be a lucky man too. Thanks for posting one of the best watches on the planet.

I viewed this watch in the store and was generally not impressed. It is not comfortable. It is nothing special. The memovox is nice but for those prices I would rather save up and get a VC Overseas Chronograph/Breguet Typ XX Aeronavale, or even a base Patek Philippe.
I think you are being a bit too harsh, either way the VC Overseas is considerably more money!
The Jaegers show excellent workmanship and are very finely made, the GMT Reverso is the best of the bunch, spend some time setting the date, flipping the sides and handling it and I am sure you will agree they are pure class. The only downside is that no one would know what you are wearing, me and you and thats about it, but I dont really care about that.
