@dueOneChandra With You method, you prepare some edges before you finish centers. The result is that you have unpaired edges only on mid layer and top layer. Horizontal slicing allow you to start F2L is the same direction than you paired edges and as you have nothing to look on the D layer, this is easier that with standard reduction method. Note that he still does the edges before centers using vertical slicing. I think this is the good choice for Yau method.
You should do some Yau walkthroughs. I know how to do the method, but everyone else that I've seen use it, always puts the cross color on the left while making the cross edges, while I have to do it with the cross color down. I want to see how this is done easily. I find it really hard on the left.
Not youtube WR anymore, Dan Cohen just posted a 38.74 average of 12.

You're crazy. I thought you were already sub 40 with normal reduction? Maybe I'll follow your footsteps and also switch to yau someday... :p

Yau
TheMrcuber 3 months ago
Is the Yau method only different in pairing edges? Or is it a different method altogether from reduction style, like K4 or something?
cubestack 3 months ago
@cubestack You build 3 cross edges after opposite edges, solve centers, solve cross, reduction and 3x3.
K4 is a direct solving method.

wtf. i just remembered, I dreamed that I had switched to Yau on 4x4 O_o
lololol completely forgot that.

Very nice! I was thinking of switching to Yau...but so far my times are worse than reduction. Very fast!
