Awesome! I was wondering... I'm going to be stripping some leftover turquoise color from my already bleached hair and dying it red, but I want it to last as long as possible. The thing is, it's hot and sunny here in Texas and my hair gets oily the day after washing it. How can I make it last?

@claire0rockz What you can do is to first pick a good brand, Special Effects is the longer lasting brand and they have some really awesome reds! Check out Nuclear red or Blood red! :) Use products that provide sun protection for your hair, there are lots of hairsprays, conditioners etc.. and a dry shampoo is a good investment, especially if you dye with semi-permanent and have oily hair. That way, the color will last longer since you are not really washing it when using it! Hope this helps! :D

Hey, you said it was a darker red before, did you have to bleach the roots every time you redyed? I have naturally dark brown hair, but its currently black, I used to dye it red without bleaching just using live XXL red passion, and it went deep red. I have noticed that roots take to colour more easily so was just wondering :) . I want to go red again but with a slightly brighter shade, so am going to have to bleach out the black. When you bleach do you do the lengths first then do the roots? x

@kvit92 As I said recently... it's overkill to bleach your whole hair is you are not changing color. Just bleach the roots and dye your whole hair with the same color! The first time you bleach your hair, I bleach the lengths first since the warmth from your head is making the bleaching by the roots more effective!

@jadenstarr11 Hi! It would be overkill to bleach all of your hair if you are not changing color. Just bleach the roots whenever you need it and just apply the same dye over the faded color :)

Did the hair color help your hair feel better after it felt like straw? Did you use a developer?

@Kathylouu Yes it did help, but I needed products as well to bring the hair back in a healthy looking condition. No developer for the dye is necessary, the bleach opens up the hair, leaving it thirsty and will suck up the dye :)

@Kathylouu Manic Panic is AWESOME for getting rid of straw like hair. After I bleached mine, I couldn't get a comb through it without pulling. After I put in MP, it conditioned it so well, now it's not at all like straw.

I have red hair now on unbleached hair and i use Directions Semi- perm in Pillarbox Red but i want a more vibrant colour, right now it lasts me a good couple of weeks without having to dye it, how long does the colour last for before it starts to dramatically fade?

Special effects is a lot better for coloring hair, it lasts longer than MP, and the color pay off is awesome. I didn't even need to bleach my dark hair to get it purple.

@luxuriouscinder Hi! I wouldn't recommend MP for dying on unbleached hair, tried a while ago to redye my roots purple without bleach and there was pretty much no difference. I think you should try out Special Effects. Just tried redying my roots blue without bleach with SE blue velvet and the results were dark blue :)

SE has a stunning dark red dye - "blood red" - that might suit you!

They work wonderful, my hair is now back to it's normal condition of not even better! And that's after 4 weeks! So no worry about your hair getting damaged due to bleaching and dying! Manic Panic coloring doesn't stay in well, though. If you dye your hair again and want a BRIGHT color, I'd suggest a brand called Adore. The color pay-off is great and it stays in a good 2-3 weeks before REALLY fading.
