  • @asphyxiafeeling the Senator clearly states that this raise is merely to keep the minimum wage in step with inflation. By your logic, you'd be happy if the real wage had never gone up, which would put today's minimum wage at $3.80 an hour. Sign me up for your campaign!

  • Raising the minimum wage, while well intentioned, actually hurts poor people by pricing unskilled workers out of jobs.

Check out Friedman's assessment of it on youtube!

  • Is that Vodka in the glass? Kicked out of Harvard twice for cheating, murder, drunk, participated in a rape with his nephew in Florida, Bid investor in Krugerrands during White rule of South Africa. World is better off now that he is dead

  • The minimum wage is good for those who are working at minimum wage. It is a terrible thing for the unemployed and minorities who can't get jobs.

  • @kriskats19 Who wants to be employed and slaved for a week to week check anyway... I'd rather be homeless living in a box , and eating scraps for food

  • @kriskats19 Yes and being a house slave was better than not having a home and being on the run.

  • @kriskats19 Boo Hoo

  • @kriskats19 so are u saying minorities are not worth minimum wage?

  • Lets hope that the state of MA. returns some sanity to this seat next year by electing Professor Elizabeth Warren to the U.S. Senate. I think they will.

  • @susankohistany So the fuck what

  • I miss this man with all my heart and soul. I wish to God he were still here and healthy. He wouldn't be taking this shit lying down that's going on now.

  • @christinamickey06 I have this video saved for rememberance of this fighter for the working class. If he could only see the OWS movement. He would be proud. Perhaps he is watching.

  • We miss u;(((

  • Is it just me, but since the death of Ted Kennedy has anyone else noticed that the conduct and behaviour of American politicians has just gone into absolute freefall?

He was a rich man, yes, but he had an awareness of the hardships of many ordinary people and worked for them and their interests throughout his life. Who is standing up for them now?

And I'd love to have heard his views on the current economic crisis and the disgraceful relationship between big business and the political classes.

  • God I miss this buffoon. One of the biggest demagogues to ever darken the floor of the Senate. I love that he gave Barry a Portuguese Water Dog. The swimmer lives on in fond memory. I spilled my favorite gin on the ground, one for the Teddy.

  • This must have been after Happy Hour

  • People pay 15% Taxes Billionaires pay 20% , everyones happy...

  • god i wonder what he would say about whats going on now ted would cusify the current rupublicans and crush big bussiness this is the only voice we have ever had we need them now

  • McCain finished at the bottom of his class (only 4 of nearly 500 of his peers scored LOWER).

He crashed 5 multi-million dollar war planes. That's a considerable loss to tax payers, not to mention a pretty lousy success record as a pilot.

He got captured alive. In some books, that's not necessarily brave. Many consider those who chose NOT to be taken alive the greater heroes.

Would any of the above have impressed ANYONE if the guy on the resume was NOT MALE WHITE CHRISTIAN and RICH?

  • @avaiae Isn't that the Republican's favorite gripe? Minimum wage kills jobs?

Gett off it! When someone says high, you say low. You disgree to gisagree. You smell up every room you enter.

The upper 1% are NOT paying enough in taxes. 3/4 of the American people agree with that.

Let the filthy rich pay their fair sahre, and almost all of our budget problems will be solved. Then cut military spending to be in line with REALITY, and the working poor won't have to tighten their belts anymore.

  • @zerogullibility You don't think 35% federal tax + state, county and local tax isn't a fair share? Many are paying over HALF of their income to taxes and what has it done to better this country NOTHING.

  • @whothaplaya I think what millionaires and billionaires paid in taxes when Clinton was President was FAIR. What they are paying TODAY is not nearly enough, no matter how YOU try to dress it up to smell rosy.

Warren Buffett pays a lower rate in taxes than his secretary. THAT is not fair, and if you disagree with the richest man in the country on that one, you're a liar or simply misinformed (by FOX Noise?)

  • @zerogullibility Personally I believe in a flat income tax. EVERYONES taxes are to high right now. 15% flat tax.

  • @whothaplaya You're either an idiot or a liar. Our taxes are at an all time low. Millionaires are NOT sharing in any sacrifices and certainly no suffering. You defend this inequality for reasons you have yet to admit.

Stop kissing the ass of those who are doing just fine. Millions are jobless to satisfy the greed of a few. Millions more are enslaved in go nowhere jobs at sub-human wages. You are a champion of those evil ways of the super rich. You need to be ashamed of yourself!

  • @zerogullibility "Millions are jobless to satisfy the greed of a few. Millions" Tell me how higher taxes are going to create more jobs. Yes taxes are at all time low in recent history, but are still too high. Government is way to big right now.

  • WHEN DOES THE GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED STOP?! WE ASKED...THE OTHER SIDE!! WHAT IS IT?! SOMETHING!! SOMETHING!!! LOL

  • Edward Kennedy is full of crap. Minimum wage will NOT help the working class. I'm part of the working class by the way.

  • @TicoNicaX4

Would raising the minimum wage affect your salary?

If it wouldn't, you don't really have a horse in this race. And if it would, why in the world would you be against it?

  • @VysetheTard The higher the minimum wage is raised the higher the unemployment for entry level workers. It helps a few get a few bucks more a week but hurts the people that are now getting nothing. Have you noticed as minimum wage has raised places like Walmart have less and less cashiers? Say minimum wage was raised to 20 dollars tomorrow. Every major retailer would have almost no cashiers and just self checkouts. So tell me who does that really help?

  • @whothaplaya

What Wal-Mart wants is robots that never need repairs and will work for free, and for someone else to buy the robots for them. Barring that, they will hire as few employees as possible and pay them the bare minimum they can get away with.

Blaming wage hikes for fewer hires at a company that has ungodly, record-breaking profits every year is just obscene. Wal-Mart could pay its workers fifteen bucks an hour and give them full insurance benefits and still make an absolute killing.

  • @whothaplaya

Also, why is it that cashiers and clerks could make a decent living at retail stores fifty years ago, but these days it totally bankrupts the company and makes people unhirable to give them two bucks more an hour so they can maybe afford to pay their rent AND buy groceries?

Could you explain how it came to this? Because, y'know, I just can't help but think that our shriveled, stagnated wages are connected to these huge corporate bonuses somehow.

  • Nope, Shawn hunny, I'm not here to debate politics on a youtube page, that would be stupid. I'm just laughing at you personally.

You aren't really here for debate & I don't give a crap about your aggressive BS, because you don't really care either. I could no more change your mind than I could a rose bush, so why try? I just think you are spewing your impotent rage in a stupid place. so I laugh, just like I do at falcon boy below with his all caps and his (!!)

  • THE GREAT TED KENNEDY !!....A GREAT MAN !!!!!

  • Teddy boy was a pompus privledged drunkard. He got away with murder. he got jobs and contracts for freinds and family and abused America from the time he was born. The worst thing he did (besides murder) was getting a full honor burial at sea for a nephew that flew a plane into the sea killing two woman. military burials at sea are reserved for VERY few. Non issue for a Kennedy. Phone call,DONE. He was a punk.

  • @shawnbrennan1

I guess it hurts that such a drunkard and a punk achieved so much more with his life than you have. Of course your acrid post on YouTube makes up for all of that.

  • @airtech4 I can tell you that all I have acheived, I have done on my own without any family or political influence. I can also say that I killed a woman and literally walked away from it..I'd be in jail now. Defend that! More important, defend Teddy boy's actions when he made a phone call and arranged for a full honor military burial at sea off a commisoned U.S. warship for a NEPHEW that never served!!! Waiting to hear.

  • @shawnbrennan1

Yep, when you've got nothin' attack. I'm not here to defend Ted, I just laugh at nobodies like you who attack, attack attack,

All to no avail. impotent rage is funny.

  • @airtech4 All I want is to get paid back for the funeral for JFKjr. It was an insult to America. People like you have NO defense for it , so you sling insults. I own you.

  • @airtech4 so no answer as to why teddy boy is entilted to a funeral for a family member on a ship?...hmmm I thought you have an answer.

  • lol, $7.25 is the minimum wage in the USA. $15.51 is the minimum wage in Australia. Have a look around you, people. Americans are essentially wage slaves.

  • OMG! What if Harry Reid was like this? That would be fucking awesome! I so love how all those corporate whores and bought off shill repugnicans absolutely hated this man.

  • A liberal lion - he is sorely missed.

  • I hope they buried him face down, so he can see exactly where he is going.

  • I wonder how many people trashing this speech or his flaws would feel comfortable living at minimum wage. How many would even be able to post a message on this site.

  • @mikolasa What difference does that make? That it has been decades since I worked for such a low wage doesn't alter the fact that the minimum wage has never accomplished anything but to make those who do not generate a sufficient return unemployable. It demonstrably does nothing but harm to the very people it is ostensibly supposed to help.

  • @mikolasa I wonder how many of those minimum wage earners would have been college graduates had Kennedy's policies have not been passed. Him and the democrats are always advocating policies to keep people poor, if you know anything of history you would already know this. It's a voting block for them. Moron.

  • My favorite drunken, lecherous, degenerate murderer. R.I.P. fatso.

  • @46spoony aka GW Bush

  • @hellfirewrestling98 ?????? Tell me when George Bush drove his date into a lake leaving her to die until he reported it the next day?

  • @quarterxchange laura bush killed a man

  • @hellfirewrestling98 Last time I checked Laura didn't start with a G.

  • @hellfirewrestling98

Actually, my friends call me "The Gipper."

  • Great speech.

  • @stevebremner Tell me what's so good about the minimum wage law. Explain why it's needed.

  • @quarterxchange look at the countries w/o a minimum wage we cannot be a high consumption economy with low wages it is not possible

  • @hellfirewrestling98 Correlation =/= Causation. Hong Kong doesn't have the minimum wage law, yet has become one of the most economically active "city" in the world. This economy can certainly be a high consumption economy, and as I have explained before, people who make the minimum wage rates will not have their wages reduced, because being paid the minimum wage in the first place shows that businesses already consider their labor to be worth the minimum wage rate.

  • Republicans are, and always have been, the scourge on the middle and lower classes of America.

They are sociopaths, plain and simple.

  • @TheLeftyGrove You're a stupid dumbass. If you had a lick of sense and two brain cells to run together, you'd realize how bogus and destructive minimum wage laws.

  • @quarterxchange "Two brain cells to run together"? Yep, you're a smart one. A perfect Repuke, I would say...

  • @TheLeftyGrove Explain what good the minimum wage does.

  • @quarterxchange Sorry, you've already proven it would be a waste of time. I can already tell that you aren't up to my intellect. Keep up with the Limbaughisms, though. Sheer genius.

  • @TheLeftyGrove You started dishing out the personal attacks by calling republicans sociopaths on no grounds, so I called you a name too. Now I'm asking you to clearly explain what good the minimum wage law does.

  • A GREAT MAN !

  • today it's two years since Senator Kennedy left us may you live forever in our hearts!!

  • minimum wage is the US is $5? WOW!

  • @indivum 7:25 and some people think its to high go figure

  • @hellfirewrestling98 There shouldn't be a minimum wage law.

  • @quarterxchange well there is so live with it or move to a country w/o one like china. this is America we hold a standard of living and there is a minimum and if a company cant pay a bade minimum of 7:25 hr they do not deserve to be in business. we cannot have a high consumption/ low wage economy, dose not work, hate to be a prick about it but I'm tired of worker rights being stripped away y not get rid of overtime and clean air laws to?

  • @hellfirewrestling98 That's retarded. That's like saying, "go move somewhere else if you want gay marriage".

The minimum wage law does not help anybody. Businesses don't participate in charity, meaning they don't hire you for more than your labor is worth. People who make minimum wage or more aren't affected. It simply forces businesses to not hire people whose labor doesn't justify minimum wage pay. Rather than holding a standard of living, it keeps the unskilled unemployed.

  • @quarterxchange as a small business owner once told me "i don't care if minimum wage is a dollar or 10 bucks an hr I wont hire more people than demand needs, i hire 2 more people at next to nothing, they will stand around and do nothing, no demand, how do i look someone in the face and say they are worth less than the minimum wage, and expect they will work hard I get what i pay for, i pay shit ill get shit, people need to support themselves and actually buy stuff to keep business alive"

  • That's not the case with all business owners. I know plenty of business owners who would love to hire teenagers so they can get on the job training and develop some skill, acquire some knowledge and develop a good work ethic all the while they have extra help from teens, whose labor doesn't justify the minimum wage law, but can do manual labor. There is a market demand for labor, meaning the amount a company pays you is what another company will pay, regardless of the minimum wage law.

  • When are we going to finally realize that we need to root out corruption from our political system? When will we limit each of our elected officials to a single term? When will lobbying be made illegal and jail time attached and transparent campaign reform be realized?

  • One of the greatest short persausive speeches of all time.

  • I have new found respect for the senator.

  • Awesome! I am sending this link to the whitehouse so Obama can grow a pair like Kennedy had!

  • if we had more ted kennedys the tea prty would not bully people around as much

  • @hellfirewrestling98 On the contrary. The Tea Party came into being precisely because people were tired of being bullied by an ever-growing, out-of-control federal (feral?) gov't. The Tea Party isn't an action. It's a reaction to economic oppression. I agree with most of their points. Obama is the antithesis of freedom.

  • @cincyblows so where were u guys from 2000 to 2008 when Bush ran up the debt with 2 pointless wars that were never on the books, ran up the debt billions and invaded privacy with warrentless wiretaps?

  • @hellfirewrestling98 Where were you when Clinton moved money into the general fund from social security just long enough to tell the American public, "See? Surplus!" before moving it back? Warrantless wiretaps of phone calls coming from nations that sponsored terrorism? Sorry, I'm not shedding tears for that.

  • @cincyblows and than Bush blew it on two pointless wars that our troops die for no reason in it. Bush started two illegal wars blew a surplus that if what u say is correct (doubt it is) but if it is than SSI should not be going broke than if that money went back ,?

  • @hellfirewrestling98 And would you prefer that we fight our enemies on our soil instead of theirs? Had you been born before Sept 11 2001? Doesn't sound like it.

  • @cincyblows anytime we have to give up some freedoms for our "security' we dont deserve either, this whole "fight them over there" idea dose not fly with me, how long do our troops die for people that will ALWAYS hate us? im sure as soon as the black man leaves office the tea baggers will disolve, u guys bitched (maybe not u personally) but the tea party didnt like the way bin laden was killed. had the bush administration been in charge they would have trwon him a parade

  • @cincyblows The war in Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Iraq was not our enemy - but it is now :0)

  • @virginiaerdie Then you better alert the Pentagon, since you know more about the war than the military community does. My congratulations to you.

  • @cincyblows millions killed in an illegal unfunded and pointless war, i guess soilders coming home in flag draped caskets makes not just terrorists happy, sigh

  • @hellfirewrestling98 Right. Keep telling yourself that. While you're at it, ask yourself why we're in Libya.

  • @cincyblows Lbya is a pointless war to, lets go to N Korea to y not

  • @hellfirewrestling98 So where do you want to deal with terrorists? On our soil or on theirs?

  • @cincyblows The idea is absurd. It sounds like a punchline in an action film.

"We fight them over there so we don't have to fight them here!!"

A statement like this is a jingoist tactic that only appeals to frightened soccer moms who have no tacit understanding of the world whatsoever,

I imagine the statement sounds noble and good to those who are young, or the young and terrified...but unfortunately it is profoundly misleading.

  • If we had listen to this man years ago we wouldn't have as bad as problems we have now.

  • @sethforsaken Yes because the housing bubble and collapse of the economy was caused by the a decrease in minimum wage.

  • @sethforsaken Dumbass, he is the one who advocated for windmill farms, then decided against them when he found out they where going to put them off the coast of his beach house. He is a "Not in my backyard" politician, he doesn't care about you, never would have either, fuck him. He will rot in hell where he belongs.

  • @sethforsaken You Mean an increase in the price of goods and services for listening to Ted Kennedy? I doubt it.

  • @sethforsaken lol, Kennedy was clueless about real economic issues. Rich liberal asshole buying votes with faux populism, and he fooled a lot of clowns like you.

  • @sethforsaken You're right, it'd be much much worse.

  • Yeah, the middle/working class would be thriving, more of the poor would be leaving the the poverty line and entering the middle class, unemployment would be under 4%, too big to fail wouldn't exist, a choke chain would be put on Wall Street not allowing them to shovel around worthless toxic bonds backed by bad debt... Geeze! All of this would've just been awful. At least to a conservative.

  • @bigtexansfan No they wouldn't. Every single policy that requires government intervention on the economy has backfired. Unemployment is so high partly because of the minimum wage law, which requires businesses to discriminate against and not hire people whose skills don't justify minimum wage pay. Wall Street and other corporations getting bailout money is deplorable to conservative value and becoming too big to fail goes against fiscal conservatism.

  • @quarterxchange Bullcrap, unemployment is so high because WE DON'T BUILD ANYTHING HERE ANYMORE!! Because corporations have been rewarded for screwing over the American worker and exploiting the foreign worker. There's NO DEMAND because the better part of Americans are working shitty low wage jobs! In your logic paying people even less so they could afford less and NOT be able to spend would help the economy? Yep, that's republican economics alright. Still think it's gonna "trickle down" huh?

  • @bigtexansfan We don't build anything anymore here because it's cheaper for corporations to build elsewhere. Abolish government mandated unions, abolish the corporate tax and abolish the minimum wage law and make American labor competitive with foreign labor and we'd have a hell of low unemployment rate. If American labor was sooo cheap and "shitty low wage", corporations would do more business here. But U.S. labor is expensive, as are taxes on corporations, so they leave.

  • @bigtexansfan The regulations, taxes, and benefits we force companies to pay amounts to a large percentage of what they make. Government regulation forces them to leave. The reason they go overseas is because foreign labor is cheap. If American labor was cheap and the regulations and taxes companies had to pay and shell out for were eliminated, the cost of the products and services they provide would plummet. Did it ever occur to you that companies had to charge more when we tax them more?

  • @quarterxchange So your solution is to let them pollute the air, water, and land, pay much less, provide no benefits and totally exploit the American workforce to kill the middle class and install a plutocracy. That's your answer? Here's a clue THAT'S WHAT THEY'RE TRYING TO DO!! It's NOT WORKING AND WON'T WORK! Why do you think the Occupy movement have gone global? "We The People" of the world not just America are sick of it. They'd even yank kids out of school and put them in factories!

  • I'm against littering, and dumping trash in lakes and such is littering. Also there is nothing to suggest mankind can affect the global climate since other planets have been found to have similar temperature increases to ours. Also, in a free market, everyone's labor has a market value meaning companies compete to have good workers. People who already have good pay and benefits, wouldn't be any less better off. The only people suffering are those whose labor doesn't justify the minimum wage

  • @quarterxchange We'll save that debate for another topic, but there's MORE than enough highly credible evidence that reckless practices by humans are contributing to the emitting of excessive CO2 is a contributing factor to climate change. But exactly whose labor doesn't justify the minimum (if I could pay you less I would wage)? I never belittle anyone else job. I don't care if it's a fast food worker. I'm there because of the convenience they provide when I don't have time to fix my own food.

  • @bigtexansfan No there isn't. It's true that we produce a lot of CO2 but it's far from being conclusive that mankind is the cause. Again, NASA has found that other planets in our very own Solar System are warming up at similar rates.

The people whose labor doesn't justify minimum wage pay is anybody whose labor is worth less than the minimum wage law. For example teenagers and adults just entering the labor force. If your labor is worth less than minimum wage, you won't get hired.

  • @quarterxchange Who's labor isn't worth it? Some kid with a paper route, mowing lawns, or a lemonade stand? Other than that your argument is weak. You don't think that waitress, janitor, hotel maid, cashier, etc... is worth $7.25 an hour? Your logic is that crappy NON living wage is too much for them? I know teenagers working for this that can hardly pay their school dues and fees on it. But this is just the kind of conservative policy of GREED that's brought world economies to it's knees.

  • @bigtexansfan Again you are subscribing to the fallacy that the minimum wage law somehow raises wages. Believe me, if someone's labor or skill isn't worth $7.25, they aren't paid $7.25. And in fact $7.25 an hour is one of the lowest minimum wages in the country. In many parts of the country it's over $8, meaning everyone working for minimum wage elsewhere would be unemployed. This isn't about greed, most people are employed by small hard working business owners, not Gates or Buffet.

  • @bigtexansfan How about you investigate the GREED of your liberal Colleges jackass?? Why don't you fuckbrains ever complain about THAT? You liberals are the most greedy motherfuckers on earth. Now the fuckheads at the OWS protests are bitching about fellow protesters stealing their shit! LMAO! What happened to "redistribution" hypocrites? Lets not mention the girls getting raped at the protests! Ain't libtards wonderful folks?

Oh, but its the teaparty folks who are "Angry & violent"!! Bwahaha!

  • @bigtexansfan Aye tough guy. Why do you reply on my channel but won't say JACK SHIT on this thread? Too embarrassed that I fuck you up & make a complete fool of you on every thread we visit so far? COWARD!

  • @falcondriver100 Once again I just want to let everyone know that falcondriver100 is a mentally challenged, unemployed, middle school dropout that sits in his mom's house occupying space playing video games, and touching himself all day. He's so much of a loser that when he disgust himself too much to masturbate he stalk other guys on YouTube. Just excuse him like you would any other retarded person with the intellect of that becoming a pile of fecal matter. (my apologies to fecal matter).

  • @bigtexansfan ROFLMAO!! You're so freaking EASY to control! Its just like pulling strings on a puppet! I LOVE IT!

What you just said about me is called PROJECTION. YOU'RE the one who was caught jerking your pud to soft porn here on youtube & chatting with fellow wankers about your "hot wives"(that don't exist)in the middle of the night! Bwaaaaahahahaha!! Nice try wanky boy!!!!!!!!

  • @bigtexansfan I just want everyone to know that the ignorant, big mouthed, libtarded pussy "bigtexansfan" finally wised up and stopped allowing "recent activity" to be shown on his channel! Why would he do this AND block me? Because he's a loud mouthed cunt who hates anyone with intelligence & knowledge smacking him down, proving him a foolish buffoon & a LIAR,, and telling everyone he's a pervert who frequents soft porn, cock tease video's to wank off & chat with his perverted buddies! LOL!

  • @falcondriver100 Geez buddy, you seem like such an even tempered, logical nice guy why would anyone not want to hear what you have to say?

  • @airtech4 Might you happen to be a buddy of "bigtexansfan"?? Why no comment to him, hypocrite? Its called fighting fire with fire.

  • @falcondriver100

Way to be paranoid genius. No, I don't know bigtex, I was just moved by your irrational venom. Yep, fight fire with fire on a youtube page. Ha ha ha try to set some better priorities for your self.

    Heh.

  • @airtech4 Oh so you just so happened to stuble upon MY comments and non of HIS?? Interesting!! Don't look know, but YOU are arguing on youtube yourself! LMAO!! What an idiot.

  • @falcondriver100

Nope I came by to look at a video and I see you spewing like it means something, and I thought I'd rattle your cage a bit. I'm not arguing with you, I'm just provoking you... Obviously I've succeeded.

Yep, I'm the idiot, because calling someone on a youtube page a "big mouthed, libtarded pussy" is so impressive. Yep. you've got me there man, I concede. You win!

See? don't you feel like you've accomplished something today? Thanks for the laugh. bye.

  • @airtech4 Oh yeah!! You've really got me "rattled"!! LMAO! You see how rattled I got from bigtex didn't you? I enjoy makeing ass's out of assholes. Anytime my friend!

LOL!! I even have you repeating my words! This is hilairous! Thanks for the flattery! Luv ya RETARD!! Oh, and I'm SO SURE you just happened to see my post, and not bother to read the posts of who I was attacking!! Gee, it wouldn't be that you AGREE with bigtex would it? You must you're 'wanking buddys'! LMAO!

    Buh bye!

  • @joshatkins94 Same difference.

  • Why not increase the minimum wage to $100 per hour. This guy was an honest man but an economic illiterate

  • @shotsky94 he wasn't proposing that. $100 != $7.25

  • We need more good, decent people in our government that care about the least fortunate in society.

RIP Senator Kennedy, the country is lesser for your loss. =[

  • @DivideByZeroGetCake You lack critical thinking skills if you think that the minimum wage law actually helps anybody.

  • @DivideByZeroGetCake The country is lesser? I thought we are doing less terrible with his proposal to increase the price of goods and services.

  • @DivideByZeroGetCake yeah we need more drunks to kill woman and get away with it...we need more morons to get burials for family members off U.S. warships as well..

  • I'll tell you.Min. w. up= < people hired, for businesses don't want to cut what they make, prices go up, the money grandpa worked hard for is not worthless. I started my job when min. wage went up. All my coworkers worked for years to get to that amount, and I started there. Did my cheap company say, "oh well, since minumum wage went up, we'll boost you too?" No. Min. wage went up yet again. They said that was my raise, as if I had worked so hard over the years to get up to that min. wage again.

  • Just today I read that minimum wage is a poverty level wage. A barely squeak by. this is so morally wrong and Mr. Kennedy is dead right. He was a great man!

  • a great man !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @littleozzyboy In the eyes of a sheeple.

  • REPUBLICANS ARE SCUM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @littleozzyboy Ted Kennedy is scum

  • Nobody legally is stopping anybody from working and if you got rid of minimum wage laws this does not stop somebody from working that is their choice, there are many jobs available and if you do not like how much somebody pays then either look for another job or go in business for yourself - which lots of people believe they are entitled to a job and pay and that is what forced minimum wage does.

  • If minimum wage is increased, then so is spending power. The money goes right back into the economy. This is why I can't understand those employers who claim they can't afford to pay their employees an increase in minimum wage. If I work in a restraunt and make $8.00/hr and the min wage increases, then my employer might worry. But people working for other companies might begin frequenting his restraunt more often, so his profit (and profit margin) increase as a result. Sounds good to me.

  • @cincyblows Sorry but you are wrong when you increase minimum wage you increase cost of production of say food in the food service business, what happens this will drive the cost of going to a restaurant up to the point you can not afford to go out to dinner then who loses then the restaurant goes broke. If you do not like what the restaurant pays change your job, get educated and move on to a higher paying job. that is reality.

  • @redwhiteandblues I'm right: yes, the cost goes up a little, but then so do wages. You have to look at both sides of the equation. If an employer has to pay an increase in min wage, then initially his costs increase, yes. But if those who earn a low wage suddenly receive a higher wage, then they have more money to spend.

It's all ridiculous; min wage increases neither hurt nor help much in the long run. They do, however, make some politicians look good during election years.

  • @cincyblows I think you nailed why we have MW...it's a campaign strategy to be used on the economically illiterate masses. MW is actually worse than zero-sum. It has no benefits to the public good. 1) It prices the least skilled workers out of the labor market. They don't get paid more, they get laid off. 2) It cuts into some or all business profits, forcing otherwise resourceful enterprises out of business. 3) Less business production lowers supply and raises costs to consumers.

  • @cincyblows If spending power increases, then why don't we raise minimum wage to $100? Then spending power will go WAY up and more people will buy things! No not really, because businesses don't have magical monies to pay for the wage increase in the FIRST place. You're assumption is that what will happen in the future will affect business leaders today. But, no they'll lay them off and raise prices today, and then no one wins... except them if their profit margins have gone up.

  • teddy looks drunk in this video

  • Here is a great idea lets redistribute Kennedy families wealth - how would they like that. Everytime you increase minimum wage you lose jobs, who can afford to hire somebody when GOV forceable drives up the cost of labor, what happens this forces businesses to close or outsource to another country to produce goods and services. This is truth as to what these progressive policies do, get rid of minimum wages NOW. And stop printing money NOW.

  • @redwhiteandblues You tell em!! A man without the right to freely contract his own labour is commonly referred to as a slave.

  • @TorontoPermaculture I of course agree - what liberals like Kennedy never get that part. He was a liberal who has never met a payroll and who never understood reality and human nature. Forces people who run companies to pay minimum wage is facism at its highest level and you are correct it makes slaves of us all and takes away our freedoms, as long of course as the Kennedy family can stay in the empowerment and is considered part of the elites that's all the Kennedy's care about.

  • @redwhiteandblues I don’t like using labels like liberal, and since Ted Kennedy past away a couple years ago, I won’t comment on the man. However, the action of enforcing a min wage results in people being priced out of the job market. Telling a person they can’t work legally because a so called law has made their skills unmarketable is the reality of the min wage.

  • @redwhiteandblues If you lack the skills to earn the min wage, you simply remain unemployed due to discrimination. It’s like not having enough cash to buy a full loaf of bread and there being a law on the books prohibiting a grocer from selling 1/2 loaves, even though there is self evidently a market for them. But don’t worry; the welfare will give you ¼ loaves to keep you barley alive.

  • does anyone notice the uncomfortable woman next to kennedy? lol

  • This video plays like a pop song for me. It has borne repeated viewing. It is 8 minutes of kennedy at his best giving a great delivery for the common man, peaking out with "When does the greed stop!!". A Classic.

There are few wealthy ambitious people that have chosen this path to make their living. At it's worst you can say fighting for the common man was the Kennedy schtick or angle - which is far better than the Bushes at their best who are corporate gangsters for the wealthy.

  • @NowPleaseReadThis I couldn't agree more! When the Kennedies get their percentage of imported scotch revenue, they stand on the street corner and hand it out to the poor. Ole Ted only has 1 good suit and he wears that to work. The Kennedies all hope to die poor by giving away all that cash they never had to work for. Stupid Republicans want to hold on th their hard earned cash. Stupid Republicans! Pay more taxes dammit!

  • @earlyhemibill yes, Ted was born to money.. yes he was a hopeless alcoholic for a long time... yes he was responsible for killing a young woman.... I agree you can pretty easily poke holes in Ted and many of the Kennedys... but if you can watch this and not see that he is sincere you are blind. There is a power of perspective and redemption that can come to you later in life. Watch Robert Bird's speech on the silence of the Senate while we went to war... what is his past, and is he insincere?

  • @snippy2 sorry, Robert Byrd with a Y... stupid mistake for a name I know and came to admire.

  • @snippy2 Actually I feel sorry for all of old Joe Kennedy's children including Ted. They learned by example from their dad. This guy would literally bring home a girl friend to have supper with the family after his wife cooked it. Ted was called the liberal lion of the senate. I'm sure he meant well, but in the words of Benjamin Franklin "NEVER MAKE A MAN COMFORTABLE IN HIS POVERTY". The libs have made welfare a way of life generation after generation to the detriment of those receiving it. Bill

  • @earlyhemibill I actually agree with you about the welfare state and I am somewhat of a liberal... though I try to have an informed opinion on a variety of issues so on some things I can actually be conservative. My only point was I think this speech is both brilliant, true, and sincere. And also paying a minimum wage closer to a living wage can actually help people get off public assistance and stay off it. To break the cycle we need better education and job training... no easy task

  • @snippy2 "And also paying a minimum wage closer to a living wage can actually help people get off public assistance and stay off it."

Actually, it is quite the opposite. Minimum wage makes it illegal to hire unskilled workers who are worth less than MW. These unskilled workers will then collect welfare instead and continue to be unskilled workers. However, if there wasn't a MW, these people would get jobs and learn a skill that would increase their worth.

  • @NowPleaseReadThis The Bush tax cuts increased economic productivity, increased employment, and increased economic growth...fact! Ted Kennedy is responsible for the manslaughter of Martha Vineyard and the soon to be increased costs of healthcare.

  • @JasonCIAHudson tax cuts DO NOT increase economic growth DEMAND dose u can cut taxes all day if their is no demand for a product people are not working

  • @hellfirewrestling98 I agree that demand increases growth. But when there is high demand, lower taxes will give businesses more capital to invest and increase jobs. During the Bush years we did have economic growth despite two recessions that were not caused by Bush policies.

  • @JasonCIAHudson Having read your comments regarding other issues, I find that I agree with all of them except MW. That remains a sticking point for me. Oh well...

  • @NowPleaseReadThis You're a dummy if you think the minimum wage helps the "common man"

  • Ted and his entire clan(starting with Joe, minus Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr., a American Hero, and running through the lot) are bootlegers and pimps. The family gained their money from nefarious means. But yet they decided to hold others to a different standard. Old Joe was a hitler admirer. John lost his ship due to dipshitery naval commanding. Who's idea was the movie? Robert went after the people that put John into power, who were Joe Sr. "associates". And young Teddy, felt so empowered

  • @JCRIV8406 and do you happen to know the history of the Bush family? At least the generation that followed Joe contributed--more than any other political family.

Under what rock have you been living?

  • Respond to this video... Wow, I just read some of the stuff on here. It seems to be absolute proof that Americans are definitely the most politically and economically ignorant people on earth!

  • @lorizett Go eat a snail, Pierre.
