I review this after not seeing for some time. Reminded of the tremendous artistic talent that created this show, the care and collaboration that required everyone to adjust and grow. The impressive technique of classically trained masters, and the creative vision you had to recast for an American audience, Cal Arts Gamelan this would not have happened without you. Wish we could do it again.
My fav song "ojo lamis" /Dont get easily give promises Sweet thing /If just empty promises /Better be unpretentious my dear/And not let people down /Holds on to your love promises /Turns out to be empty promises/As if im waiting for the seed to grow/During the dry season/As if i got sick i dont get cure/Dont just empty promises/What was/You let me down/There are many instances/One who oft break promises

cool! i took the Javanese dance class at UCLA and the artists were great teachers. the show was awesome! shout outs to Ibu Uni, Ibu Heni, Pa Supri, Pa Sumidi, Pa Sunardi, Pa Rosa, and Pa Aris!
Di dunia musik gamelan ada campur sari. Disitu dunia perkusi boleh dicampur dengan dunia midi.
Di dunia wayang, ada wayang kulit ada juga wayang orang. Dulu kedua dunia itu tidak pernah dicampur. Sekarang sah sah saja, menjadi Wayang Kutang (alias Wayang Kulit dan Orang).
