Looks like the human brain. Though when an Euler number is involved natural patterns persist. Fractals are pretty but termination due to imperfection is natural.
I bet theres a great market spot for a company that makes ferrofluid art/sculptures/whatever you can possibly think of :O someones gona make a fortune out of this
@yulianaz Do a google search for ferro fluid. There are several places that sell neodymium magnets and ferro fluid for experimentation purposes. I bought this stuff from a company called ferrotec.
i'd like to try and make this into a living painting, think it would work? if we contain the liquid inside a sealed glass case would it maintain its properties?
Hmm, that looks strangely familiar to the way our brains look. I doubt there's any connection... but it's a strange world... I wouldn't be surprised if there were a connection.
@nin0nn - It doesn't make spikes because it stays contained in the fluid. If you could see it from the side, you'd see that it is actually forming ribbons that are the depth of the fluid. We tried it with deeper fluid, but that's when the spikes begin to form.
@nin0nn the spikes are made by the magnetic field. On typical bar magnets it will be attracted to the magnet following the magnetic field. If it's a weak magnet like a refrigerator magnet it will have a weird magnetic field like this one
@schneemonkey - the fluid is 70 % alcohol. It starts to break apart after a short time and tends to stick to the dish in certain spots sometimes. Mind you, this is a very small amount of ferrofluid in a ceramic saucer.
can i die if i drink that?
