Please check out Ockman27 who has recently published three full length live action movies of Shenmue and the third is the original imagining of the story conclusion. Fan movie done with excellent acting and direction and camerawork, not to be missed fan movie with humour and excitment and hollywood special effects too. All the main Shenmue characters interact in this funny and nostalgic epic.

first of: it meant to be free but it ain't. you can zoom on everything, but you can use only a few percent of things. you can do almost nothing in a town: there are a lot of restaurants and shops, but you can only buy in 1 or 2 shops. you can use the arcade and your saturn ok, but nothing else to do.
you wanna play this game, but it tells you no, you gotta wait for predetermind moment etc

YES. Thank God someone else with some good sense! :] The mood is perfect. It transports you to the middle of a little Japanise town in a very convicing way. Its a very calm, slow paced (I LOVE that aspect of this game!), almost as if the game would respect your own time and pace at lonely investigating the very mysterios death of your father.
Shenmue's innovation as game-narrative has yet to be surpassed, simply because half the story is your own exploration and aesthetic experience of the city.
All of that in a very moody and truely immersive Japanise little town. Amazing in almost every aspect of the word. This game, Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker and, maybe, Resident Evil 4, Half-Life 2, GTA 3, Metal Gear 2, Super Maro Galaxy, Goldeneye, Mario Kart 64, Gran Turismo 3, Sonic Adventure 1 and Ico (especially the first 3 ones!) were the biggest videogame impressions printed on me since the very beginning of the 3D gaming world.

Best place is ebay mate, you can get an unboxed one with adapter etc for about £10, it may go a little over but if you want to play this classic its bloody worth it.

adjust the potentiometer on the laser. There are tutorials here on how to do it. It should fix the problem. Then it'll read the discs again.

Lol, wow...dude, this is just a video game! There's only so much memory they can fit on a disk.
It had the most free world in a video game at the time...if it lets you zoom in on something, you can pick it up and inspect it.
The game lets you buy only what's useful to Ryo in some way.
SEGA wasn't trying to sell you something that isn't what they said it was.

Whenever I hear or see anything about Shenmue...I miss that game so much...to a point that i want to buy another 4th Dreamcast system to only play this game once more, which i might do since i'm watching this at the moment. BTW...I would like for Sega to bring this game back as the same format, but for either the Wii or X-Box 360

somebody stole my dreamcast a couple years back and I was pissed beyond bleif because this game was my shit I loved it I've beaten it about 50 times and still want to play it more. I'm getting a new(used) dreamcast pretty much just so I can play this game anyone that hates is a punk.

i, i agree the fuckers went a ran off to pick up a ps2 than rather look at the fine consol that was the dreamcast, i belive that whole ps2 thing was the demise of shenmue, and alot of hard-core shenmue fans agree.
and stilsman, i know how you feel, wheneve i watch a vid or listen to the main theme, i cry a little inside knowing what a fine game, they turley given up apon. bothers, sisters, fellow fans we all know how we fell right?

You can also buy it on CD from ebay, most of the time you can get it for about £5 max, which is quite good for a 2 disc OST.
