I have reached the conclusion that Malmsteen plays superbly the guitar, his technique is quite good (Neolassical is demanding, i know it from experience), but i have seen that his composition just, doesn't go on on rythm, he can play 10000 per second but it lacks from rythm, just see how Gilbert, Satriani or Petrucci plays, they are very good shreders/players and they don't lack of rythm like Malmsteen

Alot of you are not noticing the subtle nuances. The volume swells he's doing with the volume knob, the switching of pick ups and the gentle vibrato sustains from the whammy bar (not the cheesy neighing horse or the race car gear changing) plus his tone is just unreal, the sweeps are flawless. This is poetry. I can sweep and play a lot of the arp's here but NOT as clear and fluid as him.
