I really hate to say this, but Hoffy kind of asked for it. He was exploiting many for his personal gains and then being hostile when questioned. That usually doesn't generate a good deal of kindness.
@trapper2 - Hoffy? The barracks chief? I agree he was exploiting many, but mostly for purposes of escape, not personal gain.
Or do you mean, Septon? He exploited no one. And he explained his hostile attitude. It's not his fault that he was housed with a bunch of lazy socialists. Anyone else could have gotten off their fat butt and done business as he did. If they had the creativity and willpower.
@mphrdldn It wouldn't have made a difference. Price was a trusted man, among the prisoners. There might be suspicion but nothing would have been done before Price could have let his handlers know that he was in danger and they would have gotten him out of there or he would have just walked away. Besides it would spoil the movie plot.
One of the best lines of the movie: Curtains would do wonders for this barracks. You won't be getting them.
