i remember when this and the tg-16 came out i thought this game was like so state-of-the-art and arcade-ish i had to wait a year to get it, but it was well worth it a lot of fun days were spent playing this
You're welcome. I hooked up the TurboGrafx-16 to a giant Toshiba VCR I've found in my house's garage, then using a double-ended component cable connected from the VCR to an ADS Tech Video Xpress unit, which is plugged into the computer via USB port. Videos are recorded with the muvee autoProducer 5.0 program that was included with the unit, and the considered best video is edited with Window Movie Maker.
Yes, as long as you have basic component (which should come as a standard connection means for video game consoles now) or S-Video cables, since these are the only hook-ups that it supports. I sometimes use it to capture video directly from my Wii.
I think I might do a walkthrough later on this game too I got a capturing device on my computer I'll just5 have to keep close track on how much time I record because just like quick capture I can only record 10 minutes of a video
I used to love this game way back when, I must of finished it at least a half a dozen or more times, never could beat the last boss with out using the glitch/cheat in which when you fall in his lair just right he stays perfectly still and in one peice.
Don't know why everyone hates this game. I see nothing wrong with it. Every magazine or gaming website that mentions the TG-16 calls this "the imfamous crappy pack-in game" or something. I think they were paid by Nintendo and Sega to say that.
I sort of explained this concept in the description of the Reverse Zone video. It's rough controls (only being able to fall neutrally in midair when changing directions when jumping, for instance), difficulty and music can irritating for some players. I don't think video game companies have direct control over reviews, since they don't really hold responsiblity for words, as reviewers are sometimes misjudgeful and deal with unfinished copies to review from, and some end up following the past.
Ahhh! This game brings a lot of good memories! I remember playing this game when I was 3 or 4 years old when I was playing this game! Haven't gotten any farther than the Glacier Zone (The 5th Stage)
There is Magic Engine, but there is a five-minute time limit to use for it unless you pay $15. There are also several others such as Mednafen, Ootake, MESS, Yame, and Hugo, though for the most part they can only play Japanese versions of games. I recommend Google-searching for these types of emulators to point which one would be the best for your needs.
There are plenty of locations that require precise timings in order to avoid falling into spikes or running into enemies, but the two particular locations I can think of are in the Glacier Zone, which after the last Ninja Bomber, a directional jump is needed to get down, and in the Robo Zone, as a neutral-then-directional jump and a small hop are needed to avoid the B.A.D boss's attacks. Other than that, with a bit of practice, the other parts can be conquered.
was it the boss to world 4 my uncle had the game too for Turbografx-16 when I was a kid and he couldn't get pass world 4 from the boss in the underworld but there was a cheat he figured out so after he died he used to cheat to get to world 5
I am currently working on this. I should be able to up the other zones within the next few weeks, probably two at a time by this point. I might have all the videos I want to record from this game by the end of May.
If you want to keep a look-out for these, you can. I should definitely have the Reverse Zone uploaded by Sunday since it was just recorded earlier today.
I used a gigantic VCR to hook up the TurboGrafx-16 to the computer through an ADS Tech Video Xpress. If you have a capture card that supports certain inputs such as RGB or S-Video or a device that can be connected to the PC for these means, you can record from real hardware.
You think so, Black Tiger? I see that it does have a certain enhancement over other videos I've seen from the system. The framerate did remain the same between the recording and uploading of this footage. Truthfully, I didn't think a person would notice that the Gun Heads were fought in a great deal in order to show the obtain another heart. Good of you to note that, SuperPCEngineGrafx.

I loved this game when I was small. Thanks for posting these up! By the way, how do you record from the hardware itself?

Awesome! Can it work for the newer game systems like the PS3 or XBox 360?

I used to have this game.. Japanese version of course but under the name of Wataru..
There was a level I couldn't get past .. I think it might have been a certain jump that required pixel perfect timing..

Nice video (image) quality. Was the framerate the same before you uploaded it?
I like how you waited to get your fourth heart before facing the boss.
The shading and sound really impressed me as a Genesis player back in the day(still does).
