I'm kinda the same. I am mixed race and love heavy metal and goth music. And like you I have my days where I dress goth and have my days where I wanna dress another day, for example one day i'll be in my goth get up then the next day wanna dress in a 1940's tee dress. So I would not say I am 'proper goth' but in my heart I am.
it is the same with me, when I walk around south london looking 'gothed out' I get looks but I dont care. Like you said at least we are not dressing like every1 else

People think that gothic people are "mean people" or hard or soo on...but really they are just WAAY more confident non sheep verisons of everyone else...PLUS being much nicer :P
I'm a black girl who used to live in London and I didn't see that many non-white Goths either. I now live in Stevenage where there is a small Gothic scene, but not many people of colour. But it's never really bothered me; after all, doesn't it make you slightly more 'individual'? :P The only downside is that it can sometimes be hard to get decent hair & make-up tips... but the key is to just experiment. Sometimes I wear all-white instead of black because it contrasts more with my skin colour. ;)
