  • His mothers death really I don't think get over, nor will I

  • Poor Johnny.

  • when was this recorded? i have a feeling it was earlier then the 70s

  • @Julesnshane 1970 no doubt.

  • @Julesnshane In 1970. This song conclude his firts album "John Lennon Plastic Ono Band"...

  • My Johnny's dead ;(

  • @misscarly12 thats clever and depressing :-(

  • how old is this song please? year?

  • @GedopPa 70-71

  • That song sums up Nirvana's whole career in 50 seconds.

    RIP John

  • This song could bring up more emotions in a person than a pristine, perfectly, studio mastered track and it's under one minute long.

I hope John and his Mum found a way back together wherever they may be.

  • Im sorry John i love you RIP Julia and John

  • @Tullvideoclips I agree completely.

  • haunting.

  • i hear an entire generation of grunge or post punk band inspired by this kind of song... kurt cobain is the first name that come to my mind

  • Not only this is one of John's saddest songs. In my opinion, this is also one of John's scariest songs. Think about the atmosphere he put in a 50 seconds song. Beautifully done.

  • Poor John :(

When I hear this song, I can't stop the cry. :(

  • Apparently 3 people don't care about their mummy being dead . Dicks ...

  • That is soo sad... :(((( I love you Johnny....:(

  • 計り知れなく悲しい事。すべて受け入れ、そして新たな一歩を歩んで欲しい。

    友人よ待っています。

  • Mine too. July 4th, 2009. I miss you dearly, mom.

  • tears streaming down my face, i feel for you Johnny.

  • poor john.

  • A sad and beautiful song.

  • one of those rare songs which actually made me cry....

  • I like the way he say's mummy, instead of mum or mother. It's like a child's way of saying it, i think that makes it alot more sad aswell

  • @GSheppo92 yeah, that has been said on many occasions. good comment.

  • Maybe this is why John was attracted to Yoko so much because Yoko was older than him and she filled the mother figure that he lost...

  • @79itsjustme I hate that people rag on Yoko... she made him happy....

  • @BeatlesMadeTheWorld Yeah coz heroin addicts seem overwhelmed with elation - she was overall a negative force in Johns' life, pulling him further from reality every single day - sad, very sad.

  • @79itsjustme that actually makes a lot of sense.

  • my mother is also dead and whenever i hear this song I cry thinking about her

  • I'm crying

  • Saddest song i've ever heard. Makes me cry for any loved one i've lost.

  • My dad just died.. this morning.. well.. good song..

  • @POOPOOSOLDIER I'm sorry for you bro.. i can't imagine the pain.

  • Not to be off subject or anything, but does anybody know how to create this effect? I can't find out how to make it all low fidelity like this. RIP John

  • @toasteroven427 uh, record it on a low fidelity recording device.

he probably used a tape recorder or something

  • @flashypork

i guess he probalby also used the first guitar ever he got from his mom here.

  • @toasteroven427 They have really weak amplifiers (Usually the cheap, small ones) that can give this kind of sound.

  • @Paperhouse81

That sounds like it could work! Thanks!

  • Wow.

  • Listening for my Mum who is dead and I cant celebrate Mothers day with her.

  • Based on "Three Blind Mice". I think John knew that, but felt it was appropriate:

Three blind mice, three blind mice,

See how they run, see how they run,

They all ran after the farmer's wife,

Who cut off their tails with a carving knife,

Did you ever see such a thing in your life,

    As three blind mice?

  • My mummy died on February 22nd, 2011. She was a wonderful woman and I miss her very much. John says it all in this short but powerful song.

  • @LennonHat My mother, Erin S. Harter died when i was 5 from kidney failure. I am now a somewhat functioning 15 year old thanks to her in what i learned in those few years with her.

  • this brings tears into my eyes :'(

  • This gives me shivers

  • just AMAZING ! So beautiful !! :D

    John <3

  • who was john lennons killer??

  • @117Lovergirl Mark David Chapman

  • @darrin42 Please refrain from mentioning this name. Thank you.

  • @teveve31 Don't worry I share your hatred many times over I assure you. But people need to know the name of that bastard so they can scorn it.

  • @117Lovergirl

His assassination was orchestrated the the Richard Nixon Administration, Mark Chapman was merely a slave to the CIA's MKULTRA project! He was brainwashed and used as a 'patsy' to cover up the Governments evil deeds! Mark Chapman was never found to be clinically insane.

To quote John not long before he was murdered: "Listen, if anything happens to Yoko and me, it was not an accident."

That should explain who killed John!

    Peace!

  • There's something in my eyes.

  • So touching lyrics - I was fortunate enough to meet the man, such a dark person with so much anger and hate...> but such a legend

  • @BDixon999

john lennon wasn't full of anger and hate.

he was full ov love, but his witty personality could let it appear otherwise.

a man who wrote julia can't be so full of hate, Imagine.

  • Made me cry.

  • Comment removed

  • So sad ...

  • Aww Johnny I love you! :'(

  • Awh :(

  • Such a great, haunting song. And a perfect closer to the great "Plastic Ono Band" album, the best post-Beatles album from John, IMHO.

  • My Idol's Dead :(

    R.I.P. John

  • Julia beetles

  • This song gets stuck in my head. I never thought a song that goes for 50 seconds could be so sad :(

  • "my daddys dead" poor julian and sean wouldve thought.

  • 3 people hate their mummy.

  • This song is really touching. So short, but so meaningful.

By the way, I noticed something. This resembles Polythene Pam, but slow and acoustic and touching

  • We love you John

  • This song give's me chills...

  • Happy birthday John. We love you. And I'll always remember your inner beauty.

  • Seriously i never cry about anything. But this was enough to bring a tear to my eye :(

I cant imagine loosing a mother. I wish i could give john a big hug right now :((

  • This song is deeply influenced by the rhythm of Japanese peom - "Haiku". Actualy, John used to learn how to make "Haiku"......

  • "It was the worst thing that ever happened to me."

    - John Lennon

  • This song is fucking haunting. Beautiful.

  • My mom didn't die but my dad did when I was 13.. and anyone who has lost a parent.. this song explains everything it feels like to lose a parent..

    r.i.p dad.

    r.i.p John

  • T.T

  • my mom died when I was 6 years old, now I am 12 and everytime I listen to this song, I can't help but crying :'(

    R.I.P John Winston Ono Lennon

  • whatever two people gave this video a thumbs down are idiots xD

  • My mum was having trouble with pain from her lower stomach and back and last week she went to the emergency room in an ambulance, all this I heard when I came to her work after beening at a jobsearchmeeting in town, This song pretty much describes what I thought where about to happen...but thankfully it wasn't as serious at it sounded - mum I love you

  • John Lennon

John Lennon Dad: You must choose who to live with! Me or your Mom!

John Winston Lennon: *Taking a moment* Dad, Dad.

    *Mum walks away*

*John Lennon runs up to her and hugs her*

    True story.

  • @JackOfBlades434 And what a way of telling it, you've got.

  • :(

all i can say now is that hes happy and painless with his mother now

    I LOVE YOU JOHN :(

  • john lennon speaks words of deep passion when he sings this song. I always sing to my mother in hopes that she can hear me in heaven, he is right though, the pain will never go away

  • I dont normaly recomend books but for a fuler understanding read THE PRIVATE JOHN LENNON by Julia Baird, Julia is John s sisther, same mum differant dad. It will clear up some misinformation. Julia Stanley Lennon, mummy loved her son, did not give him to Mimi, he was stolen TAKEN. But John was set on seeing his mom and she WANTED her son, she wanted ALL of her childern. The mother / son relationship was always strong. If you dont mind crying its worth the read. Its on Amazon if interested

  • @darkflamer23

    im so sorry darkflamer..

  • Both this and Mother are so sad.....poor John...it makes me want to give him a big hug. :(

  • me va hacer llorar

  • AT least he can see her now...

  • @mryoshi1221 I really, Really hope so. I really hope we all get that same chance. I hope that this isn't all there really is. And that John, moms everywhere and people don't all just disappear.

  • "The copper came to the door, to tell us about the accident. It was just like it's supposed to be, the way it is in the films. Asking if I was her son, and all that. Then he told us, and we both went white. It was the worst thing that ever happened to me." -John

  • It's one of the saddests songs I ever heard

    RIP Johny

  • I actually cried during this video.

  • same :(

  • when was this written?

  • @beatlesrock4567

it's the closing song on his album Plastic Ono Band. It was released in 1970 not sure if it was written long before that but that's the 1st time it was released.

  • o thx

  • YAY!! JOHN LENNON IS AWESOME!!!!

  • My mother just died 8 months ago. And this song, even though its so short, describes exactly what I'm thinking. I can't believe that a 50 second song just described exactly how I feel.

  • @cookieinbk My mam died 5 months ago and I know exactly what you mean.

  • @cookieinbk srry for ur loss. my baby cousin lost his dad, too bad he wont remember how much a great father he was..

  • @cookieinbk i feel ya,check out "mother" from this album

  • @cookieinbk i am so sorry :(

  • @cookieinbk Im sorry for your loss.

  • @cookieinbk i'm so sorry i subscribe

  • @cookieinbk My mother died a few days ago, this song has been in my head ever since even though I only heard it once years ago. Incredibly sad and haunting, I wish I could explain how I feel and think, this song is the closest explanation I have

  • @cookieinbk

    brother don't cry

  • I hope that i never have to go through what this genius of a man went through.

This guy influenced me beyond anyone else, and he was one of the greatest peace ralliers to ever live. If i could've done something against Chapman, the world would be a better place. What could possess someone to kill one of the most peaceful men in the world? That is all I have to say.

  • Definitely one of the saddest songs ever written

  • I'd say he was trying to make it sound like he was recording it when he was 16 or whenever his mum died, that's why it's short and has poor sound quality.

  • lovely...very chilling.

  • Is this version the one he put on album? It's so short, and the sound quality isn't perfect, so I was just wondering . . .

Beautiful song, no one will ever come close to John's genius.

  • I think being isolated and disregarded by your parents can be quite a painful experience too, especially for younger children.

Though I agree with what you are saying to a certain extent, I wouldn't generalise as much as you have.

  • Your right. Gosh, I must of been mad at something that day.

  • i think its even more painful for a child to have parents around that dont listen and dont know what their childs currently going through its like living with a ghost a constant reminder that theres no one there

  • I agree. I guess it is more painful that way, because you don't know if your dead parent or guardian would really listen to you or not. If you knew that they would listen to you, and you have a new guardian who doesn't, it's even more painful.

  • @StTnGoNtHDcKoFtHbAy - I completely agree. I don't have experience with this other than the fact I've been thankful for such a long time that my mother cared enough about me to want to know what was going on with me.

  • @StevieWonder501 it's this kind of thinking that drives artists to CREATE problems for themselves to legitimize what they do...you don't need a tragic life to be a great artist. it takes creativity and dedication.these qualities made john lennon a great songwriter...not his mom's death.

  • @liveoperator I partly agree with you. But his mum s death had a powerful affect om John and his sisthers, same mum diferant dad s. . To say tradgy dosent change you is so not true. No denying John s talent but he never really got over his mum s death, unless those who knew him longest are ALL ltiying

  • @StevieWonder501 I dont know if you ever lost a parent. If you have I am very sorry, if not I hope you never do. He is saying it dosent get easier with time and that s the truth. It is HIS pain and HIS mummy. If you dont like what he is saying fine, dont listen.

  • @missgibbdreamer Who? John Lennon? I'm fine with his pain, and I'm glad he put it out there, naked for everyone to see. I haven't lost a parent, but I know people who have (whether physically or not).

  • @StevieWonder501 - That's one reason not to like today's music but there's a lot of blues music back then that dealt almost exclusively with trivial shit, or made important shit SOUND trivial. Today's popular music (bands) is (are) manufactured by people who know the beat, sound and voices of "artists" who will sell well. Most is marketed towards teeny boppers. No artist in any genre of any art form will impress me like Lennon, unless they can voice the truth under scrutiny the way he did.

  • @ViperXXXXXXX Yeah, Iknow what you mean. I can think of a few artists off the topof my head that were Very honest, like otis redding, tom waits, stevie wonder, ray davies, dennis wilson, and sly stone, but some artists, like otis, had generally cliche lyrics sung by a painfully honest and outstanding voice. Just listen to "a change is gonna come," if you need proof (or any of his stuff). Dock of the Bay does have some very good lyrics, though.

  • @StevieWonder501 Where do you get your music? I'm sorry?

  • @bilbomarks Where do I get it? Um, I usually buy my stuff at a used record shop called Cheapos (I get Lennon there, too), but you can probably get it online (like at iTunes). Or, you can just listen to these artists on youtube. They all have a sort of honesty that not many others have been able to match since (they're mostly from the 60's). Oh, and Ray Davies is in the Kinks.

  • @StevieWonder501 I was referring to this: "See, this just makes me dislike today's music even more." I suppose I should've asked where do you get you're contemporary music?

  • @bilbomarks I actually listen to bands like the Fleet Fokes and the Delays, which are pretty good (they're from the 2000's), but not as much as, say, the Beatles. I get the stuff from the library and listen to it. When I am saying today's music, I'm not dismissing ALL the bands around today; I'm talking about the more "commercial" music, the stuff on the radio. Back then it used to rock, but now it just rolls along and runs over your eardrums. That's just my opinion, though.

  • @StevieWonder501 Oh, you can find good music also today.

I think in every decade they had good Music and totally crap.

  • @BPSkinhead Yes, but real good classics are a bit rare the last few years. Only a very very small group of artists/bands get a place in the musichistory.

  • Three blind mice. Three blind mice. See how they run, see how they run...

  • @kentonlarsen see how they run like pigs from a gun

  • @Hollylego54 ...see how they fly. I'm cryin'...

  • john<3

  • this is to set in the tune of three blind mice. what a sad song.

  • God, John... You're amaizing! Nobody can ce like you... You're the most incredible person I've ever heard about...

  • "is short, but has a lot of meaning"

Yes. He was trying to express that his mother was dead. At least that's my interpretation...

  • i'm so sad :'(... but I lost my brother and grandmather...

John, I'm sorry, and I wait that you has found peace, and you're mother in the heaven...

  • Omg, my heart is broken! At least they're together now. RIP John and Julia!

  • less is more.

  • its a wonderfull song

    but its sad.. :(

    love john <3

  • this is soooo sad! i feel so bad for him. R.I.P John, George, Paul's mom, John's mom, Paul's dad(i think), John's dad(i'm sure), Maureen, and Linda. :(

  • And don't forget Ringo's uncle!

  • fuck that gave me chills. :'(

  • And my daddy's dead...

  • I miss him. Such a great man. He really knew how to put feeling into his songs. RIP

  • that was incredible

  • What a powerful song.

    John's just amazing

    :]

    I miss him...
