I don't think so. The Adol shadow kicked my ass. Wearing the rainbow fragment let you see better in the dark and the true form of the Adol shadow got weaker armor and lower HP.

By the way, this Rainbow Fragment item sucks, it only changes the form of one opponent. If you not use it, you will fight Adol shadows later, but if you use it, you will fight a very much annoying creature instead. My advice is never use it!

for those seeds, does adol eat them, or does he like, grow them instantaneously and eat their bore fruit?

You'll need the bell of silence to beat that boss you couldn't damage!

Also the rainbow fragment brightens dark areas, reveals hidden platforms and the true form of a certain enemy that mimics Adol.

Getting all tabulas isn't required to finish the game. However, I can't remember if you get anything for finding them all or not.
