I know what u meant, but the absurd thing is to put china and germany in the same sentence, there is no comparison! What the DDR used to do is different, but then try russia as your example cause the DDR discipline was influenced by russia, but the DDR doesn't exist since 1989 and now the average income in germany is significantly higher than in america, so lot of talented kids don't try the way of an athlete because there are always other ways to earn your money in germany!
to: fingazinhizazz22. The Olympics just highlighted the Chinese exploiting child gymnasts. Germans used to fancy themselves superior in athletics and a few other things too... This culture of riding young kids to be superstars @ sports is ruining some(a lot) of em. I've talked with the kid's dad and everything, and here you come a year later policing posts. Shut up and watch lil man do his thing, chump...
Ain't no such thing as "the # 1 6th grader in the nation" . What the hell is this China? Germany? Let the damn kid grow up! He may want to be a doctor or a politician when he grows up. Ranking kids limits the kid's perspective of himself and the adults around him. Do we really need another Black basketball player? I wonder about the kid's gaurdians...
You reinforce the point I made for me...I was referring to the ranking of grade schoolers in general, anyway...I've xchanged posts w/ the kid's dad and thankfully he's a responsible parent...I see Luther every summer at the annual Moore Park Tourney in Chicago. Will Bynum and Tony Allen are regulars too...
