  • Little late on the sell, Jimmy. "OH GOOD GOD, JESUS!!"

  • lol, I remember seeing that on tv. I was wondering why they had cinder blocks in a tv studio.

  • @don417 because they could

  • I think Vince missed the boat on not bringing Garvin and Precious in WWF in 1988. Coulda brought them in as heels to feud with Savage and Liz while Savage was champion. Woulda been awesome!!!!

  • A Classic here

  • this is what I loved about WCW on Saturdays. It was like anything and everything could happen!

  • Break a leg,dude!

  • garvins sell the first one like 2 seconds after :)

  • "HE'S BREAKING BLOCKS OVER HIS LEG, JESUS!!!" Say what you want about Jim Ross but he could make almost anything believable with his commentary

  • that was'nt fake.

  • Man, I had the hots for Precious!!!

  • Jim Garvin told me that he had a piece of metal wrapped around his leg from just above the ankle to just below the knee and he kept joking with Sullivan to make sure to hit the right spot with the blocks.

This angle was done so that Jimmy could have surgery on his ankle, which he had needed for a while.

  • "my leg, my leg,, my leg...lol"

  • it says in the observer that the ankle was legit broken but not from this incident. this was the cover for real surgery! look on pro wrestling only.com i forget the date of the observer though!

  • does anyone know where i can see garvin joining the freebirds

  • Yes, this angle was shot in September 1988, ending Jimmy Garvin's run in the NWA until his return on June 14, 1989 at the Clash with The Freebirds.

  • Garvin teaming up again with Hayes happened much later (June 1989).

  • This led up to the first Clash Of The Champions didn't it?

  • Yep, 1988

  • This angle happened well after the first Clash of Champions. The first Clash happened in March 1988. This angle happened in either July or August 1988 (after the Great American Bash PPV in which they had the Tower of Doom match with Garvin's team vs. Sullivan's team).
