  • suck it up! both were great players of their generation. but of the two, Pete was a better player! you dont need reasons or explanations to that. see for yourself!

  • The best returner of all time....Man I miss this guy. Some say that tennis may suffer when Nadal and/or Federer retires. What I say is that the day this man retired, a piece of my tennis heart got taken. I absolutely loved watching Agassi play. In my opinion, the most talented player of all time! If only we could turn back the hands of time..

  • best backhand ever!!!!!!

  • damn i wish i could smoke crystal meth and still be a professional athlete

  • HAHA

  • The greatest two handed backhand of all time.

  • @LDis1

Excuse me Mr. LDis1, I don't mean to interrupt you and all but.... David Nalbandian has 1 of the greatest two handed backhands of ALL TIME! @_@

  • @FinalFan0

Yes, but David could have done so much more.... Andre because he had to face Pete Sampras in era of Serve and Volleyers, which makes it even tougher....

  • i think kafelnikov's backhand is as good as this guys also especially down the line was a beauty

  • good forehand and the best two-handed backhand in history.

  • best backhand in the game, extends perfectly

  • nice car!!

  • this guy had the best ground strokes by far. rarely hits his ground strokes late.

  • Andre would use different grips for his forehand depending on pace and spin, always between eastern and semi western, as a pure ball striker he was head and shoulders above all, so he had many options as to play human yoyo with his opponent using more angled shots, or to flatten his shots and play trhough the opponent, so thats why he would vary his grips.

  • wimbledon 92, us open 94 ' 99, french open 99, and aussie open 95 ' 2000 ' 2001' 2003..(4 major grand slam completed). former ATP world no.1and one of the BEST player in era.. that's andre "bald eagle" agassi.

  • PERSIAN PRIDE

  • Best double handed backhand ever. Perfect technique.

  • Both Agassi and Nalbandian have perfect technique

  • Comment removed

  • actually i'm not sure lol.

  • eastern grip. yes?

  • it's eastern aaron, it's eastern...........

  • With all due respect, in the video, it really looks like he turns his grip to semi-western.

  • its a semi-western.

  • He looks kinda ridiculous with that oversized shirt and oversized racquet

  • ur mom looks ridiculous

  • You've all heard the stories of Andre going into the batting cage and running toward the machine while hitting 90mph baseballs like they were tennis balls. Its true.

You're watching the greatest racket-head speed and some of the best hand-eye coordination ever bestowed on a human being.

  • love the car in the background

  • I especially like the efficiency of his ground strokes. There was no wasted energy and he always made tennis at his level look so effortless. He generated a great deal of pace off both sides and was able to recover his position along the baseline quickly due to no exaggerated follow through.

  • Hey, if you know...um, Why does Agassi's use of velocity and angeling the ball change anything? I need this question answered for a science fair experiment.

  • because the physical interpretment of the back hand swing isnt equal nor fundamental to the mechanics of the playing style.

    hope this helps.

  • I noticed that he doesn't cock his arm back very far when he performs his forehand. oh well...it's still really good.

  • It's not an error.

He made that short movement on purpose, it was necessary since he played mostly on the inner baseline of the field, something that requires supehuman reflexes and quick movements.

  • @dmonopoly It's because of the speed he generates. Plus, you have no clue if that incoming shot was of serious pace. If it was a fast shot already, then redirecting it may be the best option. He had a serious forehand, and a superb backhand. Really, the guy had it all when it came to the baseline game. Best pure baseliner that the game has ever seen.

  • sheet, thats not a continental grip on his right hand right? Thats more like the one hand full eastern backhand grip but being backed up by a second hand. What grip is his left hand holding then to produce his graceful backhand?

  • perfection

  • wow simplicity makes those strokes beautiful

  • such a small back swing

  • I miss American tennis at it's prime

  • his footwork is almost as good as his wife's

  • I feel like Agassi has the best two-hander in history (followed by Safin and Nalbandian). He gets such great rotation and he takes it so early it's ridiculous...

  • i love his backhand

  • Andre Agassi is a pure tennis tactician. The cleanest strokes, always in the center of the racket, always great follow through, body weight moving forward during the shot- what more can you say. The greatest ball-striker of his generation.

  • some would say the best ball striker ever. and he is, without a doubt, the best returner of all time. though connors is right up there with him

  • i agree he is a great ball striker, but better than sampras? i dont think so...

  • When I say that Agassi is perhaps the best ball striker ever, that is not saying that he was a better player than Sampras, but that Andre's technique was so exceptionally strong and got even better as he got older. This was even more evident when watching A.A play in person and in slow-mo videos. Now, currently, Federer, is the best striker of the ball out there.

  • i do see what you are saying. i just personally believe that pete was a better striker of the ball. you only have to look at his volleys... pete also had such a devastating forehand and serve, he was ridiculously talented...

  • Well to say someone is a great ball striker, you can't just look at their volleys. People seem to forgivingly overlook the fact that Sampras shanked quite a few balls.

  • i agree. but to be as dominant as sampras was he had to have a great ball stiking abillity. his serve was ridiculous and the forehand was devastating. i personally believe that these qualities are derived directly from have a great ball striking technique... now obviously both are tennis greats but it will be pete who is forever remembered as the greater...

  • First off, let me say that Pete is one of the greatest of all time, without a doubt! Fourteen Slams says it all! But, to say that Pete will "forever be remembered as the greater," I have to disagree there. What about Pete's average backhand? Pete NEVER won the French Open; never got to the finals! Did Pete win an Olympic gold medal, no! Andre = career Grand Slam on ALL surfaces, 8 slams total. Best returner of all time. Who changed the face of tennis more? He's from Vegas, baby!

  • i see what your saying but...

pete is remembered as the greatest player... its simple, there is no point arguing here...

  • @trevorwinton Not really, there is no set definition that defines the greatest player. It's subjective because there are no strict guidelines for one to follow when making the decision. It's really a matter of opinion, and nothing more.

  • @acantu77 Perfectly said mate. I wish I could add to it but I just can't, you said it all so well in one quick post, congrats :).

  • @trevorwinton Wow, did you actually say that? Pete had a better serve and volley. He also had a great running forehand. But to say he was a better pure ball striker? I don't think I've ever heard that from ANYONE till now. In my opinion there is no comparison at all, Andre was clearly the better ball striker. Hell, he was possibly the best ball striker in history. When you have the best return, that is all ball striking....

  • @mousavsm a great return is also reaction. i believe pete was a superior athlete and also a smarter tennis player... seriously lets just face facts, at the rate that rafa is going he will be the greatest of all time easily. you can say this and that about the competition being different and what not, the competition doesnt look as strong purely because of what he does to them... in my opinion sampras is the greatest tennis player of all time so far, i think that rafa will steal that title soon.

  • @trevorwinton I love Rafa and Andre, Andre is my tennis idol but Rafa is a close second. Comparing era's is hard, but I don't think there's much separation between Andre and Pete. Just go look up the stats. There is more to the discussion than just 4 tournaments a year. You have to consider the complete picture. The career grand slam was something Pete never even put a scare in, the Olympic gold as well for Andre, as well as the Tennis masters 1000 titles he compiled.

  • @trevorwinton The difference between Rafa and Pete is immense in terms of accomplishments. Rafa, along with Agassi, are the only 2 players to complete the career golden slam. Rafa has 18 masters 1000 titles too. Rafa may very well become the best player of all time (not for me to decide), but Pete and Andre have nothing to do with Rafa. Also, the 90's was more challenging than Fed's era (100%) and probably still more challenging than Rafa's era.
