I watched this episode and I just wanted to say, Hate Crime isn't about when a white guy attacks a black guy, it's about when a crime is committed with the intention of scaring or terrorizing a group of people.

So for example spray painting "all **** must die" or something like that.

If somebody randomly beats somebody up, and they happen to be a different ethnicity or whatever, that's not a hate crime.

But if somebody outright attacks somebody *because* they're different ethnicity/sexual orientation/whatever, then I don't know-- something like that is intended to make other people like the one who was attacked afraid for their own safety. I guess the main issue is differentiating between intent?
