Glad to hear it, we lost a few good engines in the last cuple years because they somehow got filled with water even while covered with a hood, aircleaner and even tarps.
So when you get the truck up and running and legal, are you coming up here to race my 36 Rat? :p
That tie rod end idea of yours... doesn't look like it will hold. See that plate steel there that you used? Take some of that and cut a hole in it and try putting the whole tie rod end in it...then weld the edge of the plate steel to the end of your radius arms. That rod sticking out of the tie rod end...that just doesn't look to me like it would be strong enough because it is so small. Fine for steering because it doesn't have any weight on it. but now you have a front end on it.
it what most rodders do! i would send you a link to show you what i mean but youtube is being a complete dick and won't me past the link on here not even a spaced link anyways its what most do and the others use a busing or hiem joint which look to weak to me
It is allready too late. You have water in your engine. You see that airbreather? You see how it's concaved inward? See the rust? That means water. Try taking that top half of the breather off and turning it over and putting it back on. Better yet, since you are in a rainy ass area like you said, just put a plastic trashbag over it and lay an old peice of carpet on it...and maybe tie it on there with some string or rope or speaker wire or something. Water in a motor rusts valves and shit dude.
actually it hasn't leaked yet! i checked it several times! the reason for the rust spot on the air cleaner is because it pools there until it dries or until i blow it off
It's your motor man, but I tell ya,if it were me, with as much rain as you guys get up there I would at least put something over that breather. If rainwater stays there long enough to make a rust spot then 9 times out of 10 eventually it will make it's way down into the manifold. That nut have a rubber washer under it or somethin? Anyway it's comin along very nicely I see. Great work. You gave me some inspiration with these vids. I have a 1930 chevy truck truck I am making into a rat rod.
yeah i know i should but i torqued the shit out of the wing nut and it held so far and next month it will be back home in the garage! should be up and running in the fall! (depending though on job status)
Well...keep an eye on it I guess. I was tryin to find a way I could do the front suspention the way that you have it there but I couldn't see how to do that and keep the fenders too, and the splash aprin. Chevy truck has 2 front leaf springs.
man i cant wait to see this thing done ,i was thinkin it would look better if the front frame was 2 ft shorter but at any rate youve got some crasy ideas, love the box
Holy fark mate, thats the worst welding I've seen in ages. I hope it never is driven on the highway.
