Yup but US pilots have hard time landing on the Charles de Gaulle. The french aircraft carrier is way shorter than any american carrier, and last time I heard about US pilot having landed there, they said having feared in final approach.

This can't be Nellis and Red Flag 08-4. I was there, plus the "Luke Welcomes 01-007 Provence" sign and the "58 FW Welcomes You" plaque gives it away. There was no After-Flag Party at Nellis that time because we lost an F-15D of the 65th Aggressors in a crash. The 65 AGRS Commander on the front seat perished while the visiting French officer in the back was barely able to successfully eject, less than 1500 ft AGL.

off exercise, rafales fought the RAF typhoons and beat them 3-1 4-0

however USAF refused to enter the unofficial exercise with their F22s. Yet the planes were there to officially defeat emirates mirage2000s and pakistanese F16s

Back home though, the USAF rep comments led to believe they crushed the competition... that's does not sound very honest, does it?

not exact, at last minute F22 & rafale do a dogfight gun 1v1, six rounds engagement, 0-1 in favor of F22 raptor. We have no bvr fight., no more detail.

F22's never engaged the Rafale yet. Rafale is 11G locked while F22 is 9G locked. Our pilots are used to do tricks at 11G and is more agile than the F22, witch is better than the rafale in long range engagement.

You can add the reasons I stated earlier.

@XpCorba During last UAE contest, there was a fake WVR with F22 against a Rafale. During 5-6 mins, the Rafale had the F22 in gun reticule almost all the time, the Rafale appeared transversally only once in F22's HUD.

During same contest, Rafale did 4 WVR and BVR against the Typhoon, winning : 3-1, 4-0, 4-0, 4-0

@MegaRaf2009 It was not red flag, it was ATLC where typhoon got beaten 15-1 to Rafale in both BVR and WVR. Typhoon is clearly behind despise having an intercepto design and Rafale F4 is coming very soon. Upgrades to engine, spectra, radar cancellation systems and more will come along with new electronic guerillia warefare routines and full meteor integration. Where's the EF2000 ? Rafale still needs some confrontation with the F22 where USAF still refuse official confrontations

Well, that was official report, not some "depth of internet personal blog". The Rafale owned the EF2000 like no one else, even with downgraded weaponry.

And it also proved to be extremely performant at omnirole engagement, firing with success 6 ATGM and 6 AAM in the same time.

To add to the USAF decision, they asked Rafale to switch off SPECTRA, sniffing routings to prevent Rafale to engage the F22 in full passive mode. Also SPECTRA lack F22 signatures data and they didn't want the Rafale to get intel on F22 EW signatures during this exercice. French air force refused, so USAF refused to launch the F22's.

This is not red flag, it is a friendly demonstration of the Rafale at Luke base.

The exercice was squadron of 6 Rafale vs 6 F16 in dogfights.

Rafale squadrons won all deathmatch exercices against the F16.

Side note, USAF pilots declared to be surprised by the french pilots skills and the Rafale aggressivity

I have no problem either with the French nor the rafale. I meant it this way, if a frenchman says that the french airplane is good, from the still not sure that it is so.

I saw the display of the rafale at the kecskemét airshow and it was awesome. I hope there are no anger between us :)

it's just that the french are a little touchy when hearing critics in english or german.

which has happened a lot since 2003 and our refusal to take part in the invasion of irak.

as for the rafale; we frogs have been the first to criticize it: too expensive, long birth, unsellable...but given it's results against it's equivalent (the typhoon) and it's supposed master (the raptor), we kinda changed our opinion on it. this plane is, indeed, a good plane.
