Patrick Snyers had everything to drive for! McRae didn't! It was Mark Lovell, driving a Ford Sierra RS Cosworth, who set the early pace, but he retired with engine failure after only a handful of stages. Fabrizio Tabaton (Lancia Delta HF Integrale 8v) was the European leader! So Snyers was flat out 2 win and McRae only had to finish in the top 3! To win the Open Champion! If Lovell hadn't had engine trouble..... He would have walked it easy! He was a God in the Cosworth!
Awesome driving Patrick!!! Put that in your pipe and smoke it, little Cosworth boys! 1 m3 entered kicking serious arse!!! I remember it, although I was a kid!! And that made a huge impact on my opinion cars!!!!! Lol!!!! Even today , only BMW,s I drive Thanx to Patrick and his m3! Lol!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome driving. Nothing beats a driver who has found the sweet spot in a car, especially one as well balanced as an E30 M3. Cheers Evo for telling the story.
I think they should only let you buy an M3 if you promise to drive it like that. I bet you there would be a different bunch of folks driving M3's anyway lol
He'd have that beemer talkin' to ya. Phenomenally gifted driver. We met him on Cyprus Rally 86 - a quitely spoken, modest and thoroughly nice bloke, with a smile that'd drop any young one's knickers at 50yds! The Irish fans adopted him as Paddy Snidgers ;-) Hi to his co-driver Danny Colebunders - maybe the bravest lad out there!
There's some serious speed in some of those sections, that man must have had balls of brass SO big, he'd have to take them off to get into the car. XD
Sooooo much more exciting that boring World Rally Cars. Would be interesting to see Loeb driving one of these on tarmac (or a Manta 400, Chevette HSR, Escort Mk2, Porsche 911, Renault 5 Turbo, Lancia Stratos ... in fact anything with RWD and a LOUD engine!)
3 people that dislike this should be shot immediately

Just read about this in EVO magazine and had to take a look. Stunning stuff, don't think that motor ever dropped below 7000 rpm !!

M3, one of the (now) forgotten rally machines, same as the 911 is getting to be forgotten too. Great shame as they were great cars.

I would like to see Mattias Ekström in a RWD rallyecar on tarmac. He was pretty good on gravel and snow with RWD.
