I now you've covered it before but do you use multi cam or get the actors to stay still as you move the camera to the next angle You said you do the whole thing multiple times from different angle in the other episode but do you do that for action scenes and how do you get the both angle exactly the same.
@UCOUSAMedia i actually believe that when they are doing the interviews they are recording on laptops (macbooks probably). if you look in the corners of the shot, you can see them. that way they just record the whole thing and then they switch the angles in post. :)
@boomactin @ThePress2012@boomactin They use a microphone not connected to the camera, I don't think they would use a shotgun mic for it so perhaps a box microphone(I have no idea what they are called )
I love watching these videos but I wish someone would make an actors version of this. This is more helpful to directors than it is actors. Still, I love the videos they're great to watch.
why not cut what he said instead of bleeping it? or even direct him not to say it, or even why bother recording what he said if its going to get bleeped?
Thank you so much for the directing and acting discussion. I'm a film student and have been looking for directing tips and techniques. Hearing you guys talk about your process has been a huge help. Thanks!
Dear Ryan, what camera do you use for your show and videos? How much did it cost? I'm looking into the Canon PowerShot SX30 IS... It is about 400 dollars. Do you think this is a good camera? Please Answer!!
@ASommerFilms he uses a canon 5d mark ii and more recently a canon t2i, both of them are hdslr cameras. I wouldn´t recomed you to buy the powershot because there is stuff you can´t use manualy and the camera does automatically, the optic is not the good and the sensor is quite lame. If you save 300 extra dollars you could afford a canon t2i or maybe a t3i that would totally worth each penny wasted, those are hdslrs as i mentioned before, they give you a "film look" by a very reasonable price.
Dear Ryan, what is your intro song? im making a soundtrack for a movie im making and it sounds great for the credits. by the way, i miss the old saying "grab some popcorn and get comfertable, this is filmriot"

Hello there, I love your videos, each one makes me laugh and gives me great tips. I would lik you to show how to make a light coming from a electronic devise. Such as a small devise like an ipod, and a larger one like a TV. The actual light coming from the electronic isnt bright enough and i dont know how to re-create it. Please help.
Hey Ryan Ive been watching your show since the beginning...and ive always wanted to know the process and the steps it takes to produce the show FilmRiot...i was hoping that you can make an episode showing this
@BadAssEffects and you should remove the "ass" from your channel name........ "BadEffects" is more suitable. try harder next time before ripping on a pro! Ryan is the boss!
Hey, another great episode.I do have a question though.About the film that you're currently working on, 'TELL'.I'd like to know, if you're going to post it online after it's finished, or are you only going to sell it via DVD and give a trailer or 2 of it online?
I so agree with Todd's POV about actors doing written bios and histories and profiles, etc for their characters. They're popular at acting schools but I've never experienced them adding much to a character's honest performance. It's pretty much pointless intellectualizing of a process that, by definition, can only be expressed in the moment. But, hey, if it makes you feel like a 'real actor'... go right ahead :)
Film RIot is a place od aid for film makers. It would look awfully non-credible, if they didn't show processes of film making. So good on ya Ryan for showing this, no matter who says it is a bad episode.

@filmriot I've got to say I think these last two episodes have been the most useful of them all. I mean, sure, I'm interested in visual effects and the build up an understanding of these programs, but as a film maker all I've ever done is these short 'one trick pony' videos and found the idea of shooting somthing this big with a script, proper lighting, dialoge, etc. extremly intimidating and, as such, have found these last two episodes very helpful and insightful.

It's been cool to be following Film Riot's recent progress: The 100th episode, the new logos/look, and now "Tell". Keep up the good work!
