Hey man I love your speaker videos. I followed your fundamentals and made a speaker that actually makes a lot sound. If your interested ill make a video to explain its internal parts
Check out my 24 inch home made sub with $150. worth of neo magnets. And I have a point amp occur 1250 watt mono.d class amp..im re making the coil and former.and new better spiders.
Hey MrPeterAtwood i can build a lot of stuff out of aluminum. If i build a 30" frame for a speaker you think you can help me with a very very sturdy seamless cone??. The magnet, spider and coil will be no problem I already have something in mind for the spider and I can specially order the magnet from this place I know. basically what i want to know what type of material should i use for cone?
This is gonna be a project I'm gonna help my nephew with.
Packing foam doesnt work . I however know a material and a way to form it that does. I also have other designs you might be intrested in talkin about Mr Peter
I am open to suggestions. I am looking at designing the surround out of thin sheet foam packing material. Perhaps forming an annular ring by pressing it down over a raised ring on a flat surface and using a hair drier to set it. Then cut it out. Also still working on designing a seamless cone.
If there is an easier way to get the same performance I will collect the ideas and make speaker v2.0.
@MrPeterAtwood you could make a seemless cone by making some kind of mold out of carboard or something and putting a small layer of wax on it and fiber glassing against it and when its dry just pop the mold off and clean it up.. i was thinking about making a speaker myself but i was wondering what kind of magnets would i need to use and where can i get them
very good speaker! bravo!

sounds like it can use a crossover to filter the sound a bit.
what would you do differently to make the speaker into a sub woofer?
