  • @angel007mak99 maybe you should make a pftrack tutorial then?

  • which is better PFTrack or Boujou?

  • @alegaby7 I was wondering the same today, and having read various comments, it seems that Boujou is more intuitive, while PFTrack is more professional...

  • @alegaby7 As seeing that Boujou is 10 grand, I say PFTrack

  • Hi.I have doubts in merging a track into 3d scene where 3d characters are already animated. When I import the track from Pftrack, it is so small when compared to the scene. Should I scale the camera and track? Then, if there is a scene where human and cgi character should interact, how will I find the placement of CG character in the scene? like how can I find the exact position on of the human character in the tracked scene? so that I can place the CG character near them? Please kindly reply me

  • the grid for the cube doesn't pop up til after i solve, what should i do

  • @teun3sixty i wonder about that myself

  • hola no se mucho de ingles se q tienes muchos seguidores o subscriptores pero querio ver si me puedes ayudar a conseguir es programa llamado PFtrack no lo e podido conseguir seria de mucha ayuda saludos desde el salvador

  • i have a good question, boujou or Pftrack? which one is best?

  • @TheLydianPattern

pftrack is better i will not go into detail becouse i dont have enogh space below me

pft track was used for avatar

  • You put some points on your markers and then work with them..

one thing missing.. how to make those points?

your tutorial kinda.. sucks. sorry :)

  • my camera fails :| i think is too low res

  • Thanks so much!

  • How much does the program cost?

  • where can i get this program?

  • dude take the mic out of your mouth, and then talk!

  • thanks from Mexico City. Very easy, simple and helpful. Keep going an teach us more.

  • were can i get this program and how much is it great video man

  • Having a huge problem with estimating focal length. My track seems fine but when I pull the data into c4d and add an object to the scene the object floats and slides around. Any thoughts?

  • @DirectorEck i too have the same problem!!! and its really peeing me off .. i have just finished a massive anim say bout 1500 frames and in PFTrack it works the nuts!!! but when i save it using lightwave file the whole scene does not track with the background!! :( can anyone please help as i have not very long bought this software from a mate and i like it!! but if i cant import to c4d then it was a waste of cash :(

    and i'm not a rich person ....

    please help somebody!!! i'm desperate!!

  • ok...am cracking up "johnyl94" comment///about breathing!!!!!u r funny dude

  • Dude you need to breathe more regularly

  • @PictureBandit Clearly it would be less of a challenge for you.

  • @PictureBandit Take a deep deep breath an calm down dude

  • When i right click the Camera/object exports and saves it, It cant save the file in any format. It doesnt even create the file.

Although when i right click the 2D Tracking Exports and save a file, its all fine.

What the hell is wrong with it?

I would really appreciate some help as i just cant do anything right now :/

    thanks

  • @magkas16 Oops, lol sorry i found the solution :)

  • @magkas16 what was the solution im having the same problem

  • @saberfiend sorry to dissapoint you mate, but i've stopped using it for months and cant remember :(

    sorry

  • @magkas16 Have you figuered it out yet?

  • It just won't let me save when i click on the 3D, i just dont understand.

  • is their a way to use this software to track a person in real time and render it in game play but not have it pre-built but render it in real time as the character moves? i hope i made sense lol

  • It's sounds like your talking about project netal.

  • I don't think it works in real time but Im pretty sure you can get character motions out of it. Markers would help.

  • @richmeister4eva There is, it would be really unreliable though, if you wanted to do it you'd use motion sensors or something with more definate date.

  • Comment removed

  • also, how do i scale a plane primative on all axis with out moving it or loosing its orientation, and move the plane along one axis only please?

  • Hi,Sadly i cant get a successful solve! I import my footage (dv or hd cam footage fails!) auto track, clean tracks (threashold 66%-rejection count at 100%) solve camera. process gets to 50-60% I get an error message " critical error-failed to solve" I have not had a single successful solve yet! tried various footage (from my came diff settings: DV or HD, mp4 and Mov formats and all res I thought it motion blur or cam quality so ripped dvd scenes, DL footage to try with no luck! help please :)

  • @darkseedfromuk I've been having the same problem!

  • What file type does the clip have to be, to be able to go into the program?

  • Irix RGB Softimage PIC Targa PNG TIFF JPEG IFF for Maya and Shake Cineon/DPX (Note: Cineon and DPX formats are loaded into PFTrack as 8-bit images) Quicktime movie support on Windows and OS X platforms. AVI movie support on Windows and OS X platforms SGI mov, Quicktime, AVI and MPEG support on SGI platforms ;-)
  • how did you set multiple origins? (it only allows me to select one) and how do you get your grid to show when estimating focal length (all i get is the box, without the grid). thanks for your time creating this tutorial.

  • never mind. i got it. :)

  • how?

  • PFTrack has a bit of a quirky interface. When you estimate focal length, the shape is tied to the frame you first set it up on. If all you can see is the uncolored shape, you need to find the frame you created it on to move it.

If you want to get rid of the shape altogether, that's where it gets quirky. It's very easy for the reset button to appear outside the viewing area. If you don't see it, drag the viewer up and to the right and that should reveal the button.

  • i dont have any fromat under the export section. can some one please help me. please

  • @mikh3x4 You need to have a .AVI file

  • Great tutorial, everythings looking good... but it wont allow me to export to blender.... or any other file type just says close...

  • this is awesome thanks but for some reason i cant export the file the save button is blank and i cannot click on it:(

  • nice tut...this program works better than boujou for me

  • nice tutorial.

couldnt you better go to the end shot and match the box for the estimate focal length?

  • what do you mean?

  • what are the requirements of this program?

  • Does anyone know what CGI computer programs where used for the making of 2012

  • i think is Boujou and 3ds max and Other 3d texture units

  • 3d max

  • @TWIGST3R

maya / cinema 4d. finalrender for the renders

  • @TWIGST3R $12000 ones

  • @TWIGST3R 3Ds Max and some other software!

  • @TWIGST3R i think boujou since its 5k program

  • @TWIGST3R Google Digital Domain. They did the effects.

  • @TWIGST3R Maya mainly

  • @TWIGST3R who cares, their CGI is no match for Avatar. and carefully look at the part when they take-off ( after the dude took a map ) the plane model sux.

  • @TWIGST3R Autodesk Maya and max primarily i think, along with a few others

  • @TWIGST3R

    for tracking they used Syntheyes

  • @TWIGST3R •Autodesk Maya (most shots)

    •Pixar Renderman for Maya

    •Autodesk SoftImage XSI

•Luxology Modo (model design, e.g. the Scorpion)

    •Lightwave (low-res realtime environments)

    •Houdini (Hell’s Gate scenes, interiors)

  • @TWIGST3R •ZBrush (creature design)

•Auodesk 3ds max (space shots, control room screens and HUD renderings)

    •Autodesk MotionBuilder (for real-time 3d visualisations)

    •Eyeon Fusion (image compositing)

•The Foundry Nuke Compositor (previz image compositing)

    •Autodesk Smoke (color correction)

    •Autodesk Combustion (compositing)

  • @snowdobby Nuke was Weta's main compositing tool, im sure it was ILMs too. Fusion was mainly used by the smaller VFX houses. You are also missing The Foundrys Mari software, it was used to texturing all the CG characters and creatures. Also that guy asked about 2012 not Avatar which this list is =p

  • @TheKumaDB oh correct ;p

  • @TWIGST3R •Massive (vegetation simulation)

    •Mudbox (floating mountains)

    •Avid(video editing)

•Adobe After Effects (compositing, real-ime visualizations)

•PF Track (motion tracking, background replacement)

•Adobe Illustrator (HUD and screens layout)

    •Adobe Photoshop (concept art, textures)

•Adobe Premiere (proofing, rough compositing with AE)

    •many tools developed in-house

•countless plugins for each platform, some of them Ocula for Nuke, Ktakatoa for 3ds max, Sapphire for Combustion/AE.

  • @TWIGST3R Rayfire for destruction :) its a nice plugin for max.

  • @TWIGST3R Nuke was one of those. Check Digital Domain page.

  • @TWIGST3R RayFire too

  • @TWIGST3R Maxon Cinema 4D

  • @TWIGST3R just google it

  • @TWIGST3R MAYA

  • @TWIGST3R LOL EPIC QUESTION <333333333

  • @TWIGST3R Houdini, Maya, 3dsmax. All the destruction was Houdini mainly.

  • @TofurkeyMan Actually Rayfire plugin for Max was used for most of the object fragmenting. FumeFX, pflow and Krakatoa for smoke, dust and explosions. Houdini is good but Max is the top special effects setup at the moment. I suspect most of the breaking earth effects were done in Houdini though, it lends itself to those kinda effects.

  • @schnitzil Rayfire was used for prefragmentation. Houdini was used for complex simulations and voronoi fragmentations. They built alot of plug-ins around Bullet, and used Houdini's RBD solvers. Max is not the top VFX setup, Houdini is. Max is just the most widely used. Houdini is by far the most powerful. The sequence where the volcano erupted didn't use FumeFX, it used Digital Negatives in house fluid solver.

  • @TWIGST3R I know that, for the water, they used... a 3Ds plugin for water nodes.... shoot, now I can't remember... Corridor Digital used it too!

  • @Vrud2601 If your thinking of Realflow its not a plugin for 3dsmax, the plugins are just for importing. Its a standalone fluid solver :)

  • @schnitzil We'll, ya, you're right: but it basicly still makes water effects and can be imported into 3Ds Max :)

  • @TWIGST3R Probably boujou which you can buy for 10k

  • @TWIGST3R I just know that the physics effects use Bullet.

  • pftrack defenetly has a cleaner interface than the other two major programs

  • Thanks man, but take care of your voice ;)

  • for some of us we are starting in this stuff of 3D tracking I think it's cool =)

    thanks man!

  • This seems like it was a first take. Need to say "uhh" less!

  • obvious things, very slow man.. but great video anyway, thanks for sharing

  • Blender? sweet ok peace

  • How do you export to cinema 4d when i go to 3d export it shows all different 3d apps but no cinema 4d..how do go about this?

  • export as.lws cinema 4d will take this file.

  • Yes, an after effects Tutorial is needed. how to apply the tracked motion to the null objects.

  • I need to place a Poser model over a footage shot with an unstable cam.

I tracked the cam with PFTrack and imported it in AFX. The tracking worked fine but the 3D object lost it's perspective due to being exported from Poser as a 2D footage. The object needs to interact with camera movements like a 3d mesh to look realistic. It would be easy if Poser had a motion tracking plugin.

    Any ideas?

  • i need to know how to import the track in after effects....that's so difficoult for me....i don't know why....:-))

i'm an expert of after effects, generally i use mocha, but i wanna be more tredimensional....:-)

if u need i can make u final cut tutorial, or after effects, or shake, or photoshop, or live, or illustrator, but pftrack....not so easy for me to export and import in after effects....

    would u tell me please........:-)

    alex

  • were dide you get the CGI

  • Thanks you helped me to know how to export on pftrack :)

  • Cool tutorial but is the mic down your lungs? Come on man! Move it away a bit! :D

    :)

  • pretty good tutorial. But dude it sounds like the mic is down your throat. I hear everything your mouth is doing. :P

  • Nice tutorial, it should help me get started with pftrack. Though the heavy breathing and gasping sounds get a bit annoying :)

  • thank you!

  • man you rock! Thanks for this.

  • same here it for some reason my footage it shows just the first frame. Is it because i am using the 5.0 [PLE] version

  • I'm having a problem, i imported a video but when i click play it doesn't move a frame!

  • which is better? boujou or this one?

  • OMG thx for this Tutorial nice job

  • thanks for the tutorial,

im running pftrack 2.0 ..i tried to do the camera> estimate focal length although it was faded out and non clickable

maybe for my version i need to go somewhere first to turn on setting up the solve?

    and suggestions

    thankyou

  • How much is this PFTrack???

  • £3000

In other words costs as much as a used BMW.

  • but combined with Lightwave, you can make a NEW BMW and make it seem like you own one:D

  • That's a good way of looking at it. You could probably end up buying one too, if you have skillz.

  • and/or selling the model afterwards.

  • i fixed my previous problem, but after its all done, i cant export the scene. the Okay button is greyed out.

  • i have the same problem i think its because its a demo crap!

  • For some reason my videos won't play in PF Track.

  • This is great! :)

  • This is great! Plus it's the only free tutorial I can find on the Internet. .

  • Thankyou very much for this tutorial.

Simple and easy to understand. Excellent work.

  • where can i get PF Track. Is it free?

  • No, it's FAR from free. It costs 3,000. But you can download a demo from the website. You could probably find a serial for it somewhere as well if you're into bootlegging your software.

  • Good tutorial, Ive never used PF Track but you make it seem pretty easy haha. Ive messed around with Boujou but its kinda tricky if you no guidance and not a lot vid tutorials like this. Maybe Ill try to use this app. some day.

  • I've installed PF-Track 4.0 and this is the first tutorial I watched. Very well done. Good info! The segment on 3ds Max was well done too. 5/5 for both!

  • Very usefull tutorial, thank you. I have installed Pftrack. Its a good program
